To speak to one another in narrative, simply that since his immediate answer hadn't been to destroy Seto that he wouldn't do the same to anyone else, that he didn't have the resources to hold somewhere near ten people against their will, and that he wasn't just super motivated to do anything more than was asked of him. Specifically, though, Kyo's want for trust was a want for them to give of themselves for their comrade, and to trust that it would work out for them. Konoha had brought the knife he held in his proverbial hands now, after all. "That's a good attitude to have," he stated, nodding. Even if it's among the weirdest ways to convey that attitude I've ever heard, Kyo thought to himself. "But I don't know that your ninja won't try to rescue you once you're no longer in command. I don't even know where," he stated, gesturing with his free hand, "in all this they even are. I know from our previous scouting that there are at least seven others. One is accounted for here," he continued, gesturing to Saya again. "But the rest are Sage-knows-where. There was also one more that ran off when we were approaching, too."

Since things had gone this far, it was safe to finally say that he hadn't intended on keeping all of them in the first place, but he wasn't about to just let an unknown number of randos with village-destroying techniques just run off willy-nilly without at least a pinky-promise of causing no more trouble in this specific conflict. That would be *Poor* judgement, and Kyo had at least *Average*. "Make them come here and surrender." Yeah, you heard him - crowd this topic *even more*. Hopefully, with some meta concerns probably addressed here in the narration, things could quit seeming to literally stop every time the Hokage were about to respond. He did all of these things without simply ignoring any surprise attacks or traps, and would of course change his actions to respond to them if it came to that.

This style of post brought to you by Skia, with a nod toward Temp.

It was admirable for Kanari to say what he did. To take responsibility for the lives of his shinobi in such a fashion. It was the first good she had seen out of him aside from his looks but those too had been tarnished by his actions. Kyo seemed to agree but before she could think anything else he added an addendum to his agreement. She couldn't help but nod her head after he told the Hokage to have his others come and surrender. After seeing the forest they now stood in she had to agree that the option of an attack after the Hokage had stepped down could be troublesome. She did want to say that she was aware of the locations of the others aside from the one Mokuton shinobi through her Sensory, but doing so would take the wind out of Kyo's sails and right now those sails were the fastest route to resolution. Instead she kept her mouth shut but her senses open. If any of the Konoha Genin did not come forward after this she would know, even the one hiding somewhere behind them.

It was within reach, a peaceful resolution that left everyone, at least physically, no worse for wear. Pride and reputation those were the true casualties of this battle. Well, that and most of Kemurigakure's structures as they had trees crush them but those could be rebuilt. She looked at Kyo and then 11, then to Mizui. It was amazing to know these Swordsman were in the village with her and on the battlefield with her now. She was thankful she hadn't just given up as she thought to so many times before. If only Ryoka were here...

11 stood with the group while the Hokage and Kyo hashed things out. Mizui voiced his concern about Jubei, but there wasn't much else they could do to help him now. It could be seen as some sort of hostile move if they tried to release him now. Mizui had tried to help heal him that was going to have to be good enough for now. He shook his head slightly looking Mizui in the eye. His students naivete was to be expected, 11 doubted he had ever been in a situation like this.

Kyo and Kanari began to discuss the details of Seto. Kanari offered to be taken in place of Seto and to forgive all those who came with him. 11 didn't like the sounds of this offer, like Kyo had pointed out what would stop everyone from attacking once Seto was de-crystallized. 11 had no trust for this man but they need to get this sorted out. Shouko had yet to point out any hostiles coming their way. He was glad that she had decided to join them. For now it was time to see how things played out. He was ready to act if things got ugly. Perhaps things wouldn't go that way but you never knew!

Naturally, the worry was cast aside as the injury of a single genin paled in comparison to the current predicament that halted the war. Brushing his eyes with his free hand Mizui looked towards the two focal points of the exchange, an exchange that was upped by the confident Kyo. Stabbing his sword into the ground he retrieved another vial of herbs, having wasted a dosage on avoiding those pesky vines. It didn't look as if the caster of the wood jutsu was present, only the Aburame and Hokage stood before them save for the frozen Seto. If the Hokage doesn't declare the surrender this could turn into an all-out fight... Nervously ashing his bowl he packed the empty pipe with another helping of prepared herb, doing his usual strategy of packing tobacco alongside it to prepare a hit for later. Lighting the side packed with the recreational bud Mizui took a short breath through the pipe and closed his eyes for several seconds.

He had to put on a tough face, even if all he wanted was to lose it and scramble for Joobs. We've got a job here. The people of Kemuri need us and this could be the pivotal point in their assist. I just hope it's short enough to let him make it. Opening his eyes he looked forward, resolved to be strong through the whole affair.

As she stood behind the statue that was her sensei her ears were the first to notice Kanari's appearance. She tilted her head so as to see him but not turn too quickly in front of her captors. Still unaware of what their intentions were she didn't want to give the wrong ideas through her movements. As she looked up toward her Kage the words he said hit her harder than she would have thought.

This battle had been an eye-opening one but not one for the better. Shingen's words danced in her ears, that the world behind him was the one of the strong. While it was true these people were strong did that not mean that her sensei and her Kage were also strong? They did not show if it that was the case. She knew that her skills as a Genin were likely to pale in comparison to those of her enemies, two of which were at least Jounin in rank. That was the same rank as her sensei however and in one motion a man of equal rank had subdued and entrapped him. In one motion a man of lesser rank had forced her Kage to submit.

The similarities to her spars with Seto were astonishing and for the third time that she could think of, the Uchiha had been beaten due to his unnatural hatred for simply moving. He had stood still the two times she had been let win and he stood still now. He stood still the way Daichi stood still. Why was he so adverse to moving forward or even taking a step backward? Did he believe that if he did not face everything head on that made him less of a man? The pride of an Uchiha perhaps? No matter the reason, it seemed disadvantageous to constantly expect that you could overpower everything in your path.

That was what Kanari was realizing now too. That he was also incapable of tearing through insurmountable odds and all of the stacked decks against him. She couldn't help but wonder how he couldn't have seen this coming though? From her count and her sensory earlier there were no others from Konoha among them. Only the Genin, most of which had become discouraged after their battle with Shingen, the Kage himself, and her sensei. Hardly a battalion, hardly an infantry that could storm the gates and claim victory for the village. This was also immediately coming off of a loss and draw from the Exams, something she would have thought would dissuade Kanari from launching his attack without further reinforcement.

They had already proven to be weaker than at worst, or equal to at best, with the Genin of the other villages so that only left Seto. Seto against everyone while Kanari fought the Kemurikage. What was Kanari planning with this battle? How heavily had he leaned on Suna's shoulder in planning this attack that their absence had taken everything out from under them? It was an endless series of questions she would never ask. The thought of it all was beginning to make her nauseous. She had never questioned the orders of her leader and the other higher-ups, but after today she had to wonder.

Did they truly have the best in mind?

Man, Jūbei was having dreams about, like, saving people and shit. What would have happened if he succeeded in rescuing Kaoru? In this dream, he actually made a significant effort in the fight, which was pretty cool. (Only in your dreams, kid...)

It was a pretty calming kind of dream to have, given that his last conscious memory was getting sleep gassed and slumping to the ground. At least he was able to break that bunny nin's fall though, that was cool. For now, however, it would seem that the boy would be down and out for the count.

The Hokage's advances had suddenly slowed down, it was almost terrifying how the pace of the battle had seized too exist. Did he even have a plan? Or was he trying to stall the situation until reinforcements arrived? The young Senju couldn't tell, she had peaked down below, counting the number of enemies still left. One, two, three, four...Konoha was with...so many more! They could still do this! She glanced behind her, checking if any of the genin she was with had followed her through the roots. No sign of life was to be detected, however. As if they had all decided to call it quits and walk back. Did Shingen, the legendary loser really manage to do that? Damn it. This was bad. Cowards! The lot of them! How could they leave when they were at such a crucial point right now?!

Think Ayano think, what could they do. What were their options? One kiri-nin and one kemuri-nin were captured. Four were down below, barely able to make it through her attack, Saya was down below too, come to think of it, for someone that was awfully quiet, she sure did actually talk a lot. The Hokage was there too, though Ayano couldn't tell whether he was a clone or not, she couldn't risk to find out now, if she did she'd have to drop her suppression, right now the risk was far too great if it were just to satisfy her curiosity. One thing was for sure at the very least, they had no idea where she was at this very moment, and that was good. No doubt they'd know that she was somewhere though, it didn't take a sensory-nin to realize that trees didn't grow out of nowhere by themselves.

Eyes shot towards the enemy village, observing whatever was left of it. It was pretty much destroyed, the interior integrity failing as bricks and debris crushed whatever was left. At the very least, the leaf had accomplished one thing. Taking away Kemuri's home.

They had won the battle, the war was next.

Covered in dirt and a couple tears into their Kemurikage robes, Tane and Rumi made their way over towards where everyone had gathered. They knew that their arrival would come in late in comparison to the magnificent speed at which the Hokage was capable of flying off, meaning they would likely miss the initial lines of dialogue. As they neared the clearing where a large number of trees had been cut down, they softened their pace, dropping the blurriness that carried them here in order to better allow for those in the area to identify them. Having only recently been announced to the public as Saizo's successors, Tane and Rumi couldn't be sure how informed Kirigakure's forces were as to who they were just by their image alone. However, the robes that they wore and the headbands tied underneath their bangs would certainly be enough to announce their side.

As the twins entered the area, standing separately but side-by-side, their eyes quickly scanned the faces of everyone present. While there were several unknowns among them, a few important ones stood out: Two of Kirigakure's notable Jounin, Lyuun Kyo and Number 11 (were it any other situation, the twins would take a moment to contemplate why that was what he was known by, but now was not the time for that). Beside Kyo was Konohagakure's Uchiha Seto encased in the solid, shimmering crystal. So that's the hostage he mentioned. Rumi pointed out, while Tane's attention was drawn to the unarmed Kanari standing some distance behind the crystallized Jounin and the other girl. It looks like Kanari's giving in. Although they had arrived too late to hear whatever initial words the man spoke, his body language in the context of the situation gave them enough clues to infer what his move had been.

Stepping forward towards the ranks of the Kirigakure shinobi, Tane and Rumi looked to the faces of their reinforcements, the former turning her attention towards Kyo while the latter looked on towards the cluster of shinobi by the ink-created bird. They both offered a nod in appreciation. "We're grateful for your village's fast response." She thanked them, knowing exactly how crucial their assistance was towards the outcome of this battle. The twins' attention turned back towards the now-unarmed Hokage. Feeling that it would be disrespectful to so immediately attempt to butt into the negotiations, they waited for a short time to see how the rest of the situation unfolded, be it a follow-up from Kyo, Kanari, or anything new from the rest of Konohagakure's forces that were scattered in this forest.

"None of my people is so stupid as to translate the resolution to solve me," Kanari stated quite plainly. He had trained many of the people that had accompanied him here and none were impulsive enough to try to play the hero against these odds. Still, he had already ordered them to come here already. The fact that they weren't didn't bode well for his command, but it could bode well for their survival.

"Coming outside and everyone! It's good!" The Handsome Hokage would shout to the air, loudly for anyone in the area to hear. Anyone outside of earshot, anyone that had taken some opportunity to slink away in the devastation Ayano had caused, could be so far as to not even be in sensing range anymore. For those, there was little Kanari could do except hope that they saw the situation turning south and took this moment to flee.

Shrugging at the futility of his words to those that could not hear them, the Handsome Hokage could do little else without simply leaving to round them up himself. "This person is a hearty shinobi in Konoha and, above all, is faithful to me. You will go with my request and take others with him. When I tell him to leave me, he will do it."

The arrival of Tane and Rumi was something the Handsome Hokage expected, but there was no telling how it would impact the coming moments. He hoped they would propose leniency, forgoing the loss of mere structures in exchange for the opportunity for peace. He had gone well out of his way to make sure that none of their people would die on this day, perhaps that counted for something.

Talk about a sticky situation. It was bad enough that Kazu didn't quite understand why his village had entered this war to begin with, but it was even worse to not know what he was even supposed to be doing during it! The battle against Shingen had ended, taking down with it any certainty of what the young Uchiha should be doing. Shortly after the Legendary Loser had sprinted away, Ayano had terrorized the land with roots and branches as far as the eye could see. From there, the girl had left towards the main battlefield without a word to the rest of her team, leaving Kazu to trail behind into the battlefield after her. However, by the time the clearing had entered his view, there wasn't any clear answer on what to do-- Seto had been encased in some sort of solid crystal by reinforcements from Kirigakure (what were they doing here?), bringing the conflict to a standstill as hostage negotiations began. Not knowing what he could do to help, the brown-haired boy kept himself hidden behind one of the many trees around the perimeter, watching the events unfold through his Sharingan eyes.

As time passed and words moved back and forth between the Hokage and Kirigakure's senior member, it came to be known that the latter's earlier scouting was already aware of the rest of Konohagakure's numbers, and demanded that they come forth alongside Kanari, who was surrendering himself in exchange for Seto's life. Initially unsure whether the Kanari before them was the true one (knowing that his idol had a knack for convincing deception through the Shadow Clone Technique), Kazu hesitated on stepping forward immediately. It wasn't until after the Handsome Hokage's voice echoed through the area, calling the rest of his forces forward, that Kazu's decision was made.

With a heavy sigh first to calm his nerves, unknowing what awaited him on the other side of their capture, Kazu deactivated the crimson eyes of his heritage, returning his eyes to their natural olive color. Then, he took the first step out into the clearing. With his hands up in the air above his head and separated from one another, he walked towards the rest of the group at a normal pacing. "Alright, alright, I'm coming out." He spoke clearly for their captors to hear, looking between them all as he moved in. "How does this go, should we make a line, orrr?" Unless directed otherwise, Kazu moved towards his village's leader, taking a spot to his left only a short, arms-reach distance away.

Being honest, it was taking Kyo some thinking to figure out exactly what Kanari had meant by his words. His voice seemed agreeable enough, and while the Jounin never had a ninja be described as 'hearty' before, it seemed that the Hokage wanted him to allow Seto to leave with the rest. The Hokage genuinely did seem to want his subordinates to escape this unscathed, after all. Then why thrust them into such a dangerous situation? Was he so confident of Kemurigakure's weakness? he wondered, for the first time realizing that, with all he could see so high above the village before, most of the faces he'd seen were so very young. Certainly there was some strength there, but was he raising children for war, or had he dragged them unprepared here? Neither option seemed very palatable. Even if they weren't expected to kill their opponents, their opponents would certainly kill to defend their own home. If someone less benevolent had gained the upper hand here, those kids could be facing a proverbial gallows. I wish I knew what he was thinking.

Despite that distraction, he managed a grin at the twins that had stepped forward in Kage garb. Isn't Kemurigakure run by an Uchiha? He inferred that perhaps Saizo had fallen before they got there. Either way, he felt it a little crass to hit on a newly widowed - or married - woman, and he couldn't tell which was which, so Kyo kept his wandering eyes to himself, for once. The appearance of one more individual - oh, hey, one of those kids from before - had the Lyuun nodding and shrugging. "As long as everyone can be seen. The consequence of doing weird stuff is pretty obvious, so I won't make any more threats," he said, rolling his fingers to loosen up the grip on Hiramekarei. "But I'm getting kind of tired here and so, y'know - don't stress me out or anything."

Exciting, nail biting, and action packed were all words that 11 wouldn't use to describe war negotiation. Dull, boring, and snooze fest were the words 11 would use in this situation. He listened to the the short conversation Kyo and the Hokage were having, while even one of the leafs genin appeared out of the wood work. Trying to stay focused on any attempts on his groups life 11 found his fingers slowly begin to move, as if they had a life of their own. His two (Hariyama) humanoid puppets turned to face eachother bowing slightly. Then as they rose up the slowly began to twirl around each other like little ballerinas. As they began to softly dance with eachother 11 began to realize... What better audience would he have than one that was forced to watch while begin held captive. He knew this would distract from what was currently happening but that really didn't involve him and he was growing bored.

As one puppet lifted the other higher into the air 11 began to twitch his other fingers causing his snake puppet to swirl around the two. He made the two twirl, leap, tip toe, spin, pleeay, dip, and bend just like ballerinas would. Though should any others enter the area they would all sharply turn to face them in offensive stances. they would strike if necessary and return back to their show if the person were there to surrender. 11 was watching... he was just having some fun while doing it.

Boy oh boy, war was sure weird.

Having been the war Mizui had taken apart in he couldn’t have been farther off with his expectations. Given that Jubie made it out of this kerfuffle there were no casualties of either side thus far, a fact that would likely stay as such if the negotiations stayed their course. A flicker of movement caught his eye, his chest welling up with anxiety at the thought of one of the enemies throwing a wrench in the terms for surrender and what that might mean for his injured friend. Luckily it just turned out to be 11’s puppets, the two humanoid ones performing a beautiful aerial dance. The Hozuki was quite happy for the distraction, knowing that his wandering mind would think of unpleasantries in this sort of situation.

Taking in a small drag from the recreational herb he watched as the skeletal serpent joined in the dance, weaving around the delicate moves that the other two continued. He hardly noticed the newcomer who came out of the literal woodwork and stepped to the side after asking where Kyo wanted those surrendering to put themselves. While this had turned out to be one of the least physically taxing missions Mizui had been on it certainly had a toll on him mentally, his shortcoming displayed in full with his injured friend. He resolved to steel himself in the war’s next confrontation, knowing that this battle was the start of many to come.

As Konan walked into the scene he took note of the many people present, most notably was the frozen fella next to the one holding a truly massive weapon and the Hokage. It was his voice that the boy answered, walking over to where Kazu stood and faced in the same direction... Other than offering a simple raising of the hands to show he meant no harm he didn't make a sound, not wanting to stutter like a madman and make a fool fo himself. Konan's bugs were perfectly silent, his hive had never been as quiet it was now. The boy wasn't quite terrified, just slowly coming to terms with the fact that this war was a reality and something his village had perpetrated.

There was quite a lot of swordsman amongst the group who held Seto hostage, a simple headband check revealed them to be Kirigakure shinobi. It seemed the rumors of the villages savagery, particularly that of the Seven Swordsmen, was a tad exaggerated. Hopefully, it would remain that way for the remainder of this confrontation, but who can say for the rest of the war that the mist had now joined in on. If I just keep quiet maybe I can make it out of this...

"Coming outside and everyone! It's good!"

The words echoed in her ears briefly. Eyes widened in shock, the girl flustered and unsure of what was going on or what exactly had transpired down below. What did that mean? Surely it wasn't a trap, that's their Hokage, but...why? They were at war and now suddenly they were having a talk? She hesitated. Unsure of what to do next. One of their own was encased in what seemed to be bright pink crystal, but they had two prisoners of their own right here! Narrow eyes glancing at the still breathing but unconscious and bloodied duo. One headband from Kemuri origin and the other from Kiri. It wouldn't even take her a handseal to end their lives right there and then. War required sacrifices, it would cost both sides dearly, why were they giving all that up for one single stupid shinobi?!

She did not understand.

But she wouldn't question her leader's motives either. Whatever Kanari had planned, whatever it was they were here for. If it all led towards the protection of her family, her friends, her...Kazu. Then she would follow him to the depths of hell and back if she had to.

She suddenly gasped, crimson eyes widening once more as the figure of Kazu had made an appearance. "Kazu!" they were going to capture them?! She had to save them! Body wanted to move, but it wouldn't. No matter how hard she tried, no matter how focused she was on her resolve to protect the ones close to her. All she managed to muster were trembles, trembles of her body resisting. Her heart wanted to help! But her mind, for some reason said no. It knew that whatever hostile action she'd do, would cost her dearly. Was this what they called a woman's intuition? Ayano slowly moved her hoodie over her eyes, covering at the very least the upper half of her face with darkness, the tips of her snow-white hair being the only thing quite visible.

A final glance at the two hanging unconscious shinobi before her body dropped. From branch to branch, chakra suppression fading halfway towards the surface and hands held into the air except for the every now and again lowering of them to touch the branches as she hopped down. She felt something hit the top of her hoodie but gave it no further thought. At last her feet met solid surface from mother nature itself as she landed on Saya's right - hands raised into the air with no ill intent, for now. A spot of blood visible on her clothing, in particular on her right shoulder as well as there being crimson paint over and on her hoodie itself.

Either way, Kazu was safe. That was all that mattered to her.

The leaf genin's sensory field became overloaded as he entered the former battlefield. There were handfuls of chakra signatures that Zan recognized, though it took him several seconds to process which ones belonged to each person. The hokage's voice boomed across the battlefield; telling all of the leaf's forces to gather at this one spot. Scanning the battlefield, Zan's eyes locked onto who he believed to be one of the leaf's jounin encased in crystal. Was that the same man who had been clad in crimson mere minutes ago? Was he the other jinchuuriki? Next to the crystallized shinobi stood several people with Kirigakure headbands on their person. Why were they here? Had the news of this war spread to the land of water so quickly? Blue hair drew Zan's attention as his brain quickly processed his friend's appearance on the battlefield. "Mizui..." he muttered to himself, as he clenched his fists. Mizui had been joking around back at the chuunin exams; not seeming to believe that the war was actually about to start. It appears that the swordsman's thoughts on the matter had changed, and not for the better. Would he need to fight his friend to represent his village? Why had his sensei called them all here? Zan had missed the bulk of the conversation between the two sides, but would be ready to jump into action at any time.

Etsu approaches hesitantly.
One of Kanari's messages reaches her in an awkward in-between once again.
She arrives to a horrible sight; Seto, a Jounin the likes of which she'd've heroized when she was younger, is trapped in a beautiful encasing.
Noticing her students and recognizing a few she'd watched over before, the blonde makes her way over to them, nodding in silent compliance to anyone who may be all like looking like they're wondering what her intentions were.
She does so in a safe way that avoids any lingering harm from the brief bout before.

The situation was progressing smoothly. Slowly but surely, the rest of Konohagakure's forces began to come out, clumping together into a group out in the open as requested. Shortly after the brown-haired boy that asked Kyo about forming a line took his position, Tane and Rumi turned towards the Hokage, taking a step forward. For a moment, their eyes wandered once more towards where the gates of their village once stood. Now, all they could see was the debris of crushed structures, buried underneath the expansive sea of trees. With the time they had to kill while the rest of Konohagakure's forces came out into the open, the twins addressed the Hokage.

"You know, we thought it was kind of you to spare the lives of our shinobi that protected the gate." Tane started, a somber tone in her voice. "Then, all of this happened." Rumi gestured to the massive forest as she continued her sister's train of thought. "Did you and your ninja stop to think about how many innocent men, women, and children could have died in the midst of that destruction? Did you, Kanari?" Venom leaked into Rumi's words at the mere thought of it. "If we hadn't gotten word beforehand and managed to evacuate the village in time ... Those lives would be on your conscious, and for what?" Even then, the twins couldn't know exactly-- how deep did this forest run? Did it collapse the escape tunnels underneath the village? If so ... Did everyone get out in time? The image of Team Saizo flashed through her mind; she dearly hoped that they were okay.

"To think you called our village the dangerous ones. Yours should look in a mirror."

The end of the battle was here. She had heard the Hokage call to everyone to come out and surrender, and from another part of the battlefield saw her fellow companions doing so. She was exhausted and deeply bitter about how everything had gone, and now they had lost on top of that. She joined the sides of her fellow genin, just standing there looking kind of miserable. She noticed her sensei covered in crystal, and another pang hit her stomach. If even he had been able to be defeated... she searched around for signs of Saya, and saw the girl some distance away. At least she was safe. Anyway, Maia would do much nor say anything, just make her presence apparent and wait for what was to happen next.

Everyone, at least, seemed to be accounted for - save the Fox, whom had been last seen dashing away after the blonde guy - or wait, wasn't that Mangetsu Shingen? The Legendary Loser himself, who went toe to toe with the Fox and survived to tell the tale... well, they were probably having a battle elsewhere, then, and good riddance to that sort of annoyance. They'd probably have put the rest of them all in danger if they'd decided to fight here. His finger danced as Kyo counted up each of them, and nodded. "That does seem to be the right number," he confirmed, conveniently substituting Etsu for some doggboi and forgetting all about Faulkner, whose name he probably wouldn't have been able to say anyway.

"You've all been captured by me, Lyuun Kyo," he stated, judging their reactions for a long moment. "...but I'm a generous sort, and you're really a bit too young for me," he continued, letting his eyes bounce between the girls. "Well, not you," he grinned, eyeing the blonde Jounin and giving her a wink. "Uh, in any case, look. We're all sick of this battle, yeah? Now that I've undeniably stopped you, exploiting your camaraderie, why don't you just go home? I'll keep this guy until you're all gone, just to make certain there's no funny business, but consider my release of all of you my measure of goodwill," Kyo continued, running a finger across his upper lip to wipe away a bit of sweat. It was humid. "He'll be along in his own time, I'm sure, after I've freed him. I just want some insurance - I assume that this is agreeable to you, too, ah... Kemurikage-sama. "

Any human lie detectors - or bugs capable of uh smelling a lie or the chemicals produced by humans when they lie or any other weird things - would know that he was telling the truth. He intended to let them go, and then release Seto after it was clear they'd quit the field.

Just after the twins had finished speaking, but before Kanari could offer a reply, the entirety of Konohagakure's forces had been rounded up (as counted by Kyo and the rest of the Kirigakure squad's earlier scouting). With the entire party there, the man announced his intentions to the entire group, offering them the chance to return home out of his generosity. Well, mostly generosity-- there seemed to be some other themes present in his words, referring to the majority of the group as "too young" for him save for the blonde woman. A bit confused, wondering whether it was wrong to try and pick up girls on a battlefield, the twin Kage decided to brush it off in favor of the important matters.

"I suppose we don't have business with anyone other than their Hokage." Rumi responded when prompted, followed by Tane announcing more loudly for the rest of the group to hear for sure. "As thanks for those on our side that were spared, the rest of you are free to go." Their eyes turned to look towards the rest of Konohagakure's forces, as if to spur them on and out of the area. After that, it would leave them with Kanari and the crystallized Seto to deal with.

Closing his eyes, Kanari was actually quite disappointed that his wards were near enough to hear his call. Such dismay was met with immediate relief, however, as Kyo offered to let them all go. This was especially fortunate since he still had no intention of ordering their surrender.

"Go back to the village and do not look back. This is the system!" The Handsome Hokage tilted his head so that this yell would be well heard by those in attendance, but he never took his eyes off of the Pairkage. Their words rang true, that the destruction to the village was great.

"I do not do that lightly, Kemurikages." Notably, this would be the first time that Kanari would refer to them as such without derision, sarcasm or skepticism. "But believed that I did this with your evacuation knowledge."

Having sent a clone inside to retrieve the Fox earlier, the desolation of the village was palpable. Even with his remarkable speed that wound the streets mere minutes after his arrival, there were few shinobi and no civilians to be seen. Even so, he did not make the order until the forces of Kirigakure- forces not present at the exams- had arrived and proved that Kemuri had received advanced warning of their arrival. Oh, and Saya did tell him about the group escaping out of some not-gate exit. Anyone left in the targeted buildings could only have been shinobi capable of avoiding being squashed by the jutsu that was not targeting them specifically.

The twins only confirmed what he already knew, though convincing them that he knew this ahead of time was another thing altogether and not something to be bothered with here and now.

At this point, the Handsome Hokage had few legs to stand on. That, of course, was why he was flying.

"So, now something, Kemurikage?"

As the rest of the Genin that had been inexplicably missing from the fight showed themselves a wave of ambivalence washed over the Aburame. It was at least good to know that Maia was safe. When the final arrival showed up the Konoha forces lined up. The scene reminded Saya of pigs to the slaughter. The Kirigakure Jounin decided to gloat and remind them that he alone had captured them all. It was a verbal slap but she supposed it was better than a physical one. Given the rest of the people among the battlefield she definitely did not feel to be in the worst place as her eyes drifted again to Seto's back. They would not linger there long however as Kyo continued. A braggart through and through, now he was a generous man, if only due to the age of his captives. A raised eyebrow accompanied his claim that he would simply let them go home. Disbelief set in like hooks under her skin. No one would capture the majority of an enemy force and then simply let them leave.

Then the other two, three?, Kage seemed to believe it even if she couldn't. Kanari's voice called out an order to retreat and go home. She would have to leave her sensei behind to do so though. Another conflict of ideals and teachings. She understood that sticking around was not only disobeying orders but also would likely prove ineffective. She also understood that Seto's teachings had been to never leave a comrade behind. As she searched inwardly for what to do the answer came easily. She would leave him the same way she left Daichi at the Exams. If Kyo's words were true then Seto would come back after her. If the Lyuun was lying then her sensei's fate was already sealed and nothing she did would change it.

Eyeing the daggers in the dirt for a moment she decided that it was better to just leave them. She had money and plans for new daggers anyway. Turning away from the crystallized form of her sensei, her voice called out softly to him if he should be able to hear it. "Ja ne, sensei." She wasn't sure how permanent of a parting it would be but she had nothing more to say to the man at this time. If he returned after her then they would have plenty of time to talk later.

[Exit (thank you baby Jesus) 10 hours to Konohagakure]

The Senju nodded before lowering her hands. This could all be a trap, either they wanted to kill them off as they were on their way home and their guards were lowered or...her slightly concealed red eyes glanced upwards. Or they wanted to assassinate their leader. The girl wasn't sure, but neither of the two outcomes was one she wanted to occur. What guarantee could the kiri and kemuri-nin give them to ensure the safety of their leader? Surely ending him right here and now would end the war entirely, surely the kemuri-nin would wanna enact revenge on them for destroying their village.

"Wait we do still have..." that's right. Ayano had managed to incapacitate and capture two shinobi with her wood technique, which was...worse than she had expected, but better than nothing. She could try to sneak away with them, even kill them right now without anyone noticing. Crush them quietly, they were still fifty meters above them, no one would notice until the blood finally flowed on top of their heads, which in that case they could use the sudden confusion to their advantage. "What am I thinking?!" she shouted internally in thought. Why was she thinking about killing people all of a sudden? These people had friends, family, loved ones too! Just like her! She had one important person right now, right here, Kazu. She had to protect him, even if she couldn't, she had to try. What about the two captives, would it be right for her to sacrifice them to protect her Kazu? Was it the right thing to do?

"This is not you."

She finally had made a decision, even with the 'leave' order given, she had to get this load off her chest, this...burden. Face aimed upwards as hoodie fell off, revealing her young freckled face. White hair freed from their enslavement rested like snow on her shoulders. "Kanari-sama!" she spoke out loud enough for the floating man and everyone else to hear. "I have captured two Shinobi within the forest, one from Kirigakure and one from Kemurigakure, what do you want me to do?" she'd gladly spare their lives and let them return to their loved ones, but if ordered otherwise...

As she waited for things to turn out however they did, her Sensory worked overtime to take in the locations of all the enemy shinobi. She could also sense Jubei and the Kemuri shinobi that had been captured shift behind her. That meant they were near that girl who was responsible for the woods that surrounded them. When Kanari called out for the rest of his forces to show themselves she felt the presence of that girl begin to come down toward the ground. Leaning back to Mizui and 11, she spoke to both of the swordsman.

"The girl who used the Wood Release technique is coming down and she left Jubei and the Kemuri-nin up in the trees. I can fly us up to them if you guys want to cut them down?" She would wait a bit and see what the swordsmen wished to do. While waiting she produced her scroll, an unease setting on her now that so many enemies were in one place. If either of the men were interested in going to cut the still living bodies of their ally down then she would have the bird fly them to Jubei and Kaoru's locations in that order.

Kanari issued that the rest of his forces retreat and it seemed that they were beginning to follow that order. That was until the girl who raised the forest spoke up. Shouko drew her bow at the sudden exclamation she made of the Hokage's name. Catching the weapon out of the air she pulled back the string, an arrow of ink forming in the draw. "I can sense where they are and am sending people to cut them down. I can also sense you and everyone else here. If I sense any intent or any sudden fluctuation of chakra I won't hesitate and I'll tell Kyo the same. I would implore that you let us retrieve our wounded." She trained the arrow toward the one who spoke out and held her in her sights. They were so close to a peaceful resolution that allowed everyone to go home. She would not let this girl ruin that for everyone.
