Standing alone in the smoke, Saya closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her scarf served to stop the smoke from choking her, but she still tasted the acrid assault on her tongue. The battlefield was growing more hectic now, but at least Daichi had come back to his senses. The insects that had been blown back by the large monk flew up and joined the swarm in the air. A sudden disappearance of a thousand of her allies gave way to the realization that she had failed in her attempt to stop Yuuma from attacking her friend. The clone that had thrown a dagger into the female's sand sphere had also failed, the girl floating upwards in a manner extremely similar to her sensei's. As if that wasn't enough, a new presence took it's place on the battlefield, diving into the ground among her Shokaichu. The bugs wriggled away from it's presence, knowing full well that fire was the domain of it's master and wary that the summon may use the same techniques.
Time seemed to halt for a moment as a decision presented itself. She had two options, to try to win, or to try to protect her friend. Either way, she could not stand still. Images of more dragons filled her mind as she weighed the two paths ahead of her. She opened her eyes and huffed as she formed a single handseal. Two things happened with the real Saya, firstly, she flickered out of the smoke, a trail of the blinding substance following her rapid movement. Secondly Chiisai walked to the top of Saya's scarf, eyes rotating wildly as he took in the entire battlefield, hands moved through rudimentary seals as walls of earth rose to meet the dragons again. The flicker took Saya backwards, away from the fight. She could not allow herself to fall, she had to be there for her teammates.
Meanwhile the two clones had work of their own to do. The one that had thrown the smokebomb at Yuuma watched as the insects that had attempted to barricade the attack were felled. A glint of steel, and the clone was off, racing towards the monk as he checked on Maia. A swift combination of slashes came out towards his torso as the clone took it's place between her friend and the enemy. The other clone, the one that had attacked Ayane, ran forward to retrieve her dagger. As she did this, she threw the other dagger up towards the bottom of the desert suspension. When the weapon struck the sand, it would break apart into it's components, the Kikaichu. Bugs swarmed up and over the sand and attempted to take hold into the girl's legs.
The real Saya took a deep breath as she came to a stop from her dodge, watching on as fire struck earthen structures. She hated fire, hated the idea of her insects burning to death under it's oppressive force. She cut a quick glance up to the VIP section and then flickered once more. This time it was faster, her body pushing itself to the limits. She hopped over the walls and appeared in the air directly above Rensu. Chiisai locked his gaze onto the fire boy and then he would feel it. A force even more oppressive than his fire. His body would freeze, unable to act as Saya came down from her jump, the full force of her body and flicker drove directly into the top of his head through the pommel of her dagger. The aim was simply to incapacitate, she only wanted to even the odds, but she would do so at any means. Should she hit, she would cover the boy's body in bugs, enough to drain him dry should he wake up before the fight was over.
As Ayane floated into the air and the insects moved from below her, the ones in the air swarmed and converged, attempting to meet her on two fronts. Saya had experience fighting a sand user and expected that eventually the girl would take to the sky. By doing so however, she had pincered herself. As above, so below. The insects would become a torrent of wings and chitin, tearing away at flesh and draining the girl of her chakra as they did so.

Ayane had made some errors. Not choosing to fly so high as to be unassailable… But yet, still high enough to become a beacon for attack. A swarm of bugs made their way towards her, while one insidiously built itself in the foundation of her flight. Having only knowledge of one, she turned to deal with it. She almost expelled chakra enchanced breath – she hoped it had enough force to deal with-
Oh, she had prepared replacement last round. Errors unmade!
The bugs swarmed over the faux Ayane, no jutsu forthcoming. As they chewed and burrowed into the girl, she crumbled into sand quite like what had been suspending her. The illusion unnecessary at this point, the suspension also began to dissipate, sand sloughing off in insect filled clumps. The real Ayane materialized from the sand where she had started last round, rather close to the Maya girl.
Ayane used her chakra to force the sand, both what was on the ground and still falling, to converge on Maya’s location. If left unchecked, the sand would bury her up to her neck, leaving only a small hole for her face uncovered.

[Connecting a hit on Saya’s clone who made no attempt to dodge the fire that came their way inside the smoke. The fire incinerated anything on the wall and you made no attempt to dodge it.]
There was little space for her (and the clone he was not aware of) to hide inside the smoke.
Remember it’s THREE dragons inside that smoke that arc from three directions. Whether the clone is meant to be hanging on the wall it would have been melted by one, or if it was on the ground it would have been hit by a different one. It needed to dodge and nothing was stated for the clone… I believe that it’s the clone who was handling Daichi that is now dead.
Rensu smiled as things seemed to finally be going his way. It wasn’t much but it was something. If he kept this up eventually Saya would have to surrender, and while she was being occupied all three of his companions would be able to overwhelm her allies.
Nail in the meanwhile jumped back to avoid the incoming range of the chains before burrowing back underground. He wasn’t going to be done in so easily! Those chains couldn’t touch him underground, and he was going to make sure he stayed in the fight!
Rensu meanwhile was stunned and bugged out. Haha. This writer’s funny.
But for real. Rensu was screaming.
OOC: So I was originally going to B rank Saya in her face (which might have actually killed her and DQ'd me anyway...) but I'm also way too busy rn for this thread so.
This makes for better story. It's up to the rest of you shitheads, because your ADC just got CC'd into oblivion.
As the monk began his charge it seemed the swordsman in front of him decided to come back to the fight. He did this by releasing a bolt of lightning from his mouth aimed directly for the massive monk. An annoyed look took over the violet aura of Murasakibara as he skid to a halt and stood full height, even from this distance towering over Daichi. The monk's arm waved from left to right in front of him, his eyes locked onto his opponent. The lightning seemed to flow around him like debris around a rock in a stream. It flew harmlessly behind him, crashing into the wall of the arena. The swordsman then encased himself in his own aura, one of the Raiton and began again to run.
"For someone who carries a sword, you run away an awful lot. You do realize you have to fight to win this? This is not a race, but a battle and all of your running will be for nothing if you don't follow it up with something meaningful. All you're doing now is delaying the inevitable. You're the most boring kind of opponent. If you want to play a spectator than so be it."
With that the monk turned, the swordsman still in his peripherals and charged toward the bug girl in the back who had managed to down Rensu. If Daichi didn't wish to fight, then he would oblige him in that regard. Maia was down, they still had numbers and it seemed the scarf girl was the one holding the team together. Her and her clones had managed to either gum up or defeat their plans so far, so by removing her from the picture it would leave only the spectator cosplaying a competitor against the rest of the team. He moved his massive frame faster than would look possible. As he came from the side of the bug girl, he unleashed a devastating right hook aimed at her chest.

Many misjudgements and miscalculations were made on her part. Saya had done her best to defend her, and Maia hadn't been paying enough attention. Well, also totally underestimating the power of this monk boy. By the time the huge blast of energy had whacked her she was out. After that she also got put into a sand coffin for extra measure, I suppose, but either way, she was totally unconscious and pretty injured and out of the game. It was likely her teammates wouldn't be able to revive her either, she didn't suspect either of them had such abilities. Or rather, that's what she wouldn't suspect if she were awake. Which she isn't. RIP.
After successfully incapacitating one of their opponents, Yuuma shifted his gaze to Saya and her clones; one of which was rapidly approaching the cursed monk. The bug girl had drawn a kunai and as she was dashing towards him, Yuuma would put his left hand down and make a semi-ram handsign, and position his right hand so it was facing down with the palm parallel to the ground. A spiritual being would appear behind the monk while he held the pose, and giant energy fists would punch out from behind Yuuma towards the approaching genin. The fists would strike at the approaching clone 8 times; aiming to completely dissipate its form and protect Yuuma from any further harm. Not knowing what other tricks Saya had up her sleeve, Yuuma would plan on remaining still so that he could maintain the technique. His only projectile attacks could result in friendly fire, and so he decided that haphazardly shooting them at Saya while his teammates were in the mix was a bad idea.
As Saya stood over the downed Rensu, her eyes turned back to the rest of the battle. One clone had been unable to dodge the fire of her recently defeated foe while the other did it's best against the sands of Ayane and the spirit of Yuuma. As she stood and waited, the massive monk that had been fighting Daichi suddenly changed his course and charged her. He was fast despite his size, something that the Aburame had noticed previously. Despite his obvious advantage in speed however, she had the advantage in preparation. As he turned away from Daichi, who had once again frozen up, Saya began her retreat as Chiisai vibrated softly against her neck. The baby blue chameleon brought up the idea of stepping down and giving up, but that was simply not something the girl could do. Even if it was her against everyone, the Aburame clan would not surrender, and in this moment she was the champion of her clan.
The clone that stood between Maia was struck by the first of the spiritual fists, the insects composing it shifted and fell away, skittering towards her ally's body. The insects formed again on the other side of the girl, stopping in the way of the forming sand, the clone slashed pointlessly at the sand with it's daggers as the insects that had came toward Ayane before continued to surge toward the girl's new location. They had their target and they would not stop until either they or she were no longer in this fight.
The real Saya flickered away to the top of the earthen wall Chiisai had used to protect her with previously. Her raised perspective gave her a better look on the battlefield as the smoke of her bombs began to fade. She gave a longer look to Daichi who for the second time had frozen this battle. Heat rose to her cheeks as she grew the closest to angry that she could recall in a very, very long time. Eyes moved back to her opponent's. Two of them were monks, they had little way to deal with her insects, and Ayane already had the swarm coming toward her. She let out a soft sigh that was instantly drowned out by the sound of thousands of wings.
The clone of Saya broke into it's parts, the insects on her body pulled away and the ones in the air all stopped. From her location the rest of the insects in her body left in a stream of black, roiling clouds. The insects from Rensu joined the ones in the air and the entire sky above the arena was filled with Kikaichu. The sound of their chittering was all that could be heard in the arena as they descended in the form of a massive tornado that threatened to devour anything that it touched. The swarm spun faster and faster, the sound of 40,000 hungry mouths clicking sped toward the combatants. Saya watched as the insects closed the funnel of the tornado inward, growing closer and closer to the shinobi, one of which was Maia however. The Aburame knew that her attack would probably at least take out the monks, their inability to deal with something this scale would surely be their downfall, but the technique was only destruction and her friend would be caught in the crossfire.
"Team Seven concedes." Saya's voice cut through the sound of the storming insects who instantly froze in an eerie display of control. The insects hovered for a moment before retreating back toward the Aburame. Under clothes, bandages, goggles, and into her gourd the insects disappeared leaving the battlefield free of any living Kikaichu. The Shokaichu climbed up the wall and joined the others inside of Saya. She cut a glance to Daichi and then the monk who had been berating him for the majority of the fight, "He's right. You haven't changed since your mission." She said solemnly before blinking to Maia's side and gingerly wrapping the girl's arm around her shoulders and lifting the girl to her feet. She bowed to her opponents before carefully walking Maia out of the arena with her. A sense of defeat hung around Saya's shoulders. Not the kind that came with losing a fight, but the kind that came with losing a fight she should've won. If the odds were fair, if the numbers were equal, if her teammates had fought as hard as she did.
If she were only stronger. "I am abject, I was not strong enough to lead you two. It is my fault that we lost. I should've been better." She whispered to Maia's frame. Chiisai rose from his home in the girl's scarf and rubbed his face against her chin. A comforting vibration attempted to alleviate some of Saya's concerns, but to no avail. She had let her clan down, she had let her team down, she had let her village down. She would just have to be stronger next time, for herself and for Maia.
As the massive monk expected, the swordsman didn't even try to stop him as he went off toward the heart of the opposing team. The bug girl had a knack for knowing what was to come however, and was already gone by the time he reached her location. "Tch, are all of you Konoha shinobi so skilled at running away?" he spat as he came to a halt, standing up to notice the girl's new location on top of the rock wall she had used to deflect the dragons of flame his teammate had used. Both teams had one down, but numbers were on their side still. On top of that the other standing opponent was exactly how Murasakibara had imagined him to be. A bystander who had fallen into the arena.
The arena filled with an otherworldy sound as the insects that the last Konoha-nin seemed to control roiled and riled into clouds of black. The monk's eyes moved with the swarm as it surrounded the arena, a literal tornado of chitin. As the swarm closed in, the monk began to take the stances for the Spirit Barrier once more. The technique had stopped the bugs before, and it was really all the monk had against an attack of this kind. As soon as the attack started however, the girl called out a concession and the bugs stopped and receded. The monk stared at the shinobi on the wall and nodded his head once. He understood that the fight wasn't truly over, but the writing was on the wall. The Konoha kunoichi had managed to disrupt all four members of his team however, which was impressive enough. He recognized her talent, "Your defeat was the outcome of misfortune, but you fought well. Of the competitors in this match, I recognize your talent the most. Next time I will test that talent against my own."
The monk walked over to the unconscious Rensu and picked the shinobi's body up. His teammate looked like a toy against his massive frame as the monk turned toward the swordsman he had tried to fight. A bored and unimpressed look bore down on the shinobi, "You however, what a pity someone like her was put on a team with someone like you. Have you found the limits of your abilities, even though your technique, body, and mentality aren't complete? People who are naturally better than you have been different from you ever since they were born. It's impossible to turn that around, no matter how hard you work, how well you strategize, or who your teammates are. I hope next time our paths meet, you'll do more than run, sworsdman."
With that the monk turned to Ayane and Yuuma, nodding toward the doors they had entered through. He turned his back on his opponents and left, planning to take his teammate's limp form to the infirmary. "Boring, I didn't even get to crush anyone." he sighed as his massive frame faded into the black of the hallway.
It all played out better than she had expected – the Konoha team conceded. They had looked good, especially with the numerical disadvantage they held. Perhaps what was a disadvantage in the fight would instead be viewed in a favorable light by their Kage. Bug girl will probably get it. Ayane felt like she had learned some, and that she was left with questions she didn’t know she had had. Namely, where she could find shinobi strength bug repellent.
The Monk picked up the unconscious boy and insulted the enemy swordsman – then, bug lady agreed with him. Ouch. Harsh. She fell in line with the Monk as he left the arena.
As suddenly as the match had started, the match was over and the monk stood with a feeling of relief. The insects that one of his opponents controlled would have been a huge problem for him. If she had turned her attention to him, he probably would have been out of the running. Yuuma put his arms to his side, taking himself out of his stance and dissolving the energy being that previously stood behind him. The opposing team had surrendered, but Yuuma wasn't too shocked by that turn of events. They had already been at a disadvantage, and he had knocked one of their members out of the running. He would make a slight bow to his opponents as he exited the arena. Nature chakra left his body and the black marks receded into nothingness. What would await their team in the next round?
Attributes: Strength: Average Constitution: Average Stamina: Average with a Minor Advantage Reflexes: Average with a Major Advantage Coordination: Proficient Wisdom: Masterful
Daichi watched as his team was beaten by the larger group of shinobi. Daichi felt full of energy and chakra, he could continue fighting. Yet they had to surrender, Maia had taken a hit and Daichi once again zoned out and left his team handed. Shame filled the young Genin as the monk tore into him. He left the arena without his headband on, feeling unworthy to be called a shinobi.
