Natsumi was perched on a tree branch looking out at nothing specific, she was in clear view of the ground only a few feet below her. Her back pressed against the tree trunk, her left leg dangling off the branch while her right leg was bent at the knee. Her right foot nearly flat against the branch, bringing her knee nearly completely to her chest. Sadly it was a somewhat overcast day today in Kemurigakure, but that did not exactly bother the young Sangre that much. She was instead in a pondering mood, thinking over one of her last experiences as a shinobi she had.

Tsume used her knowledge of what I can do to her advantage. She stayed in close where I was hesitant to use my Bakuton and where I struggle the most in her mind, she replayed the opening of that. Even with the aid of Daisuke, to help try and distract her and add to the issues. Tsume had just closed the gap with one of her first moves and then she just kept in range. Natsumi’s bow was useless, so were her Bakuton jutsus. And Daisuke’s best efforts, did not help much in trying to create a gap. It basically meant that everything she knew and had was useless. Even the mediocre amount of miscellaneous shinobi weapons would not have helped in that close range. How do I deal with that? Could I maybe get armor strong enough to withstand a small Bakuton blast? the idea had crossed her mind before, getting a set of armor made for herself. Blah, that would not work… The armor would be way to heavy then for me to move around effectively… she let out a heavy sigh. She just continued to mull over the fight in her mind, it had exposed something to her. It was a major flaw in her skill set, which meant she had to figure out a way to close the flaw. Or she’d end up like her father, forced into an early retirement.

(OOC: Due to the usage of Rain Tiger At Will Technique, all mentioned weather is overridden and replaced with "rainy")

It wasn't long after until the dual Kage had finished their task of passing off Tori to Shingen, grouping the foreign shinobi together in order to allow their clones to handle keeping a close eye on all of them at once. With that task completed, the twins were left to a moment of freedom. With the day passing into the later hours of the afternoon, Tane and Rumi had set a course for their home. With how busy their day had been, there had not yet been time to properly eat a lunch, resulting in a slight rumble from within Rumi's belly. The twins moved to fix that problem, debating telepathically between each other on what meal to prepare for today.

The soft pitter-patter of rain against the dirt beneath their feet masked their footsteps as they drew nearer, passing along a walkway that led just underneath the young girl sitting atop a tree branch. The quiet sigh and the dangling leg drew the two sisters' attention up above them, causing the hoods of their cloaks to slip back. As the raindrops now began to wash down their bangs and their faces, they spotted her. "You seem to be lost in thought up there." Tane called up, waving a hand loosely by her chest as she drew attention to herself. "Is everything going alright?" Always the caring figure to those around her, Tane couldn't help but check up on the girl. While it was just as feasible that the girl was simply relaxing under the cover of the foliage, enjoying the soothing sound of rain falling all around her, it was in Tane's nature to check up on people, just in case.

The two twins stood side-by-side, stopped just a few feet from the tree as they looked up to see what was going on.

Natsumi sat there, so wrapped up in her own internal thoughts that she was oblivious to the person... no persons that had been below her. It wasn’t till one of them spoke that Natsumi half jumped in surprise. Her eyes quickly looking down and spotting the two twins standing there next to one another. One was waving to her, which Natsumi returned. Waving her hand in greeting ”Sorry did not see you down there” she paused a moment trying very hard not to squint or narrow her eyes.

Wait a second, why do they look familiar? she could not shake the feeling that she had seen these two somewhere before. She knew at the very least, these were fellow Kemuri citizens. ”Everything is going okay... Just, thinking about something.....” Natsumi trailed off for a moment. Why do you look so familiar... it’s really starting to bother me she pondered as she turned on the branch. Settling into a sitting position facing towards to seeming twins.

”I was just mulling over a prior spar I had” she let out a grumbled sigh. ”More specifically a glaring issue that was thrown in my face by the sparring partner I had” she damn near let out a low growl as an image of Daisuke being smashed in the face and then lifted up into the air by the Rashoumon came to her mind. Her right hand clenched right into a fist, both of those happened because she had these issues.

Someone up close to her, was someone who had free reign to harm her.

A soft giggle escaped Tane's lips when she noticed the surprise that shook the younger girl. It seemed that they had caught her unaware, interrupting some sort of deep thinking just as the twins had surmised. As she explained the situation, the twins took a moment to examine the girl's features, coming up with a name to match before long. That's ... Oh, Sangre Natsumi? Julieanne's student, right? Listening to Natsumi's recollection of her experience, it was easy to hear the distaste she had for how the entire situation had gone down. Her tone carried with it frustration, likely plagued by her own inability to counter whatever it was that her sparring partner had thrown at her.

"Oh? What happened?" Rumi chimed in for the first time, interested in hearing of the situation. She sort of felt bad for the girl-- prideful as she was in her combat ability, she knew the frustration of feeling defeated all too well. "Maybe we could offer some help?" Tane kindly offered. It was at that point that Rumi turned to her sister, telepathically voicing her thoughts on it. I'm still starving here. It can wait, can't it Rumi? Be nice to the girl. It's part of the job. Internally grumbling, Rumi conceded to her sister. Tane wasn't wrong, but ... Food is just so tempting, you know?

Maybe you could help, maybe not she thought looking downward toward the twins as they each asked her questions. Natsumi took a moment, taking a deep breath. She was getting riled up and approaching this stranger-that-seemed-familiar with anger was rude. All they were trying to do so far is check on her and ask if they could help somehow. ”My opponent got in close, and effectively neutralized my ninjutsu” she sighed again trying to banish the thought and image of Daisuke from her mind. He was hurt enough to not be on speaking terms with Natsumi.

”I was at a loss for what to do aside from try and create distance but even that failed. My opponent just would not stop trying to keep the distance small. She knew if she didn’t that she would have a much harder time in the fight, it was so easy for her in close quarters. Even my best bet, bringing forth a summon didn’t help. Hell it only got him hurt... And now he is so angry with me that he doesn’t want to speak with me at all. So here I sit trying to figure out what the crap I could have done differently or what I need to learn to try and prevent a repeat of if the words just flowed out, like someone opened the flood gates of everything that had been bugging Natsumi since. Her eyes during the short speech had been moving between the two twins.

Oh....Crapbasket realization struck her like a fist to the chest. Her eyes widened a bit I just moaned and groaned about these problems to the KemuriKage.... she bowed her head a bit leaning forward a bit. ”I’m sorry, I just realized who you are... you probably don’t need to hear about my issues in this day and age” as she spoke she realized something else. She leaned too far forward and was now as she finished speaking sliding off of the branch.

As she slipped from the branch she had rotated forward, flipping over effectively. Her right hand instinctively shot out towards the branch. Her fingers missing the branch she was on and catching on a smaller branch that was growing from it. Using her grip she swung her body around till it was straightened out and she let go. Dropping within a soft thud onto the damp ground she looked up at the Kemurikage embarrassment coloring her cheeks a red hue. Standing out against her tanned skin. At least she had not fallen flat on her face too, was a comforting thought as she stood there a bit nervously in front of the Kage of her village.

Listening to the tale told by Natsumi, the twin Kage couldn't help but wonder who exactly it was that she had faced off against. It was undeniable that Kemurigakure boasted a large number of speedy fighters, excelling at closing the distance and keeping the pressure on their opponents. Tane and Rumi were familiar with employing the very same tactic in their own combat. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that ... Give him time. I'm sure that as the wound heals, he'll lighten up on you." Tane offered to console the distressed girl. As Kuchiyose users, she could empathize with the pain that would be born from a tear between the relationship of summon and summoner. It was fortunate for them that the slugs possessed an abnormal level of etiquette and formality, leading towards much more agreeable relationships.

Hearing the girl's slow realization of who the twins really were, followed by her comedic drop from the tree branch above, beget a short laugh from Rumi. "Bah, don't worry about it. As part of our military, your issues are our issues. The more glaring flaws our shinobi have, the more vulnerable we'll all be in the next battle." Rumi explained, perhaps unsympathetically failing to realize how her words could be construed to make Natsumi feel even worse about her inadequacy. Tane, quick to pick up on this possibility, interjected herself back into the conversation to cover it. "That said, maybe we could help you out with it? I take it you specialize in long-range attacks, right? How you choose to engage them will change everything. If they're able to close in on you, they can neutralize your technique, but if you can keep them at bay ... You'll have neutralized them."

Tane allowed those words to sink in for a moment before continuing on, offering a bit more concrete of advice to work with. "What kind of Ninjutsu do you use? You'll need to work on controlling the field around you-- make it unsafe for your opponent to approach, and it might give you the time you need to make a move." "Alternatively, you could always pick up close-quarters combat yourself. Give 'em a big surprise when they get in close and you can respond without issue." Rumi offered an alternative, being a firm believer that experience in both fields would be more helpful than hyper-focusing into one range.

Natsumi brushed her hand over the sleeve of her jacket, knocking loose some twigs and a leaf that was stuck there. ”I don’t know if he will talk to me, he refused my last two summons” she turned her head and half turned her body so she was not standing straight on with the twin but a few degrees different. Scorpions are a proud lot.... she looked over at the Twin Kages. ”My summons are a proud lot, and Suke most of all” she grumbled slightly afterwards. Proud and stubborn lot, made her wonder if she would have to actually go to their home and slap some sense into Daisuke herself.

Natsumi mulled over both of their points, sure she had a major advantage at range. Between her bow, her mediocre weapon skills and her bakuton. An opponent at range was in great danger, but once they got close... if they got close. It all changed. She turned her head to look at the two of them. ”I am a bit less concerned about distance, my worry is when someone slips in close enough that my skills with a Bow become less effective. Let alone my ability to use Bakuton becomes a danger to myself or my allies” she mulled over the second idea. What could she do if someone got in close again? Try to punch or kick them? Maybe use kunai like daggers? Her eyes darted between the two of them.

”What would you do? Given a penchant for long range and a semi hazardous elemental chakra nature. If someone slipped into a range where your weapon would be cumbersome or foolish to use, what options would you seek out to use?”

In order to better present the situation, Natsumi posed a hypothetical situation to the twins. If they were in her shoes, and the distance had already been crossed, what would they do? "Well, that's a bad situation. For that skill set, you're already at a massive disadvantage once you've let them into their preferred range." Tane explained, mulling over various options in her head. Truthfully, the situation posed was much more restrictive with the qualifier that the enemy has already gained the close proximity they needed. "If you don't have much skill in close-quarters yourself, staying there will only guarantee you lose. You need to get out of there as quickly as you can. You might not physically be superior to your opponent, but what you can try to use is your mind to outplay or deceive them. If you could hide for just a little, it might give you the opening you need to regain your distance. You could try Genjutsu to trick their perceptions, Ninjutsu to stun them, or maybe something as simple as a smokescreen to cover your tracks."

Rumi, the more reckless twin of the two, had a different solution to bring to the table. "Another thing that could help is if you practiced Ijutsu. You said you use Bakuton, right? If it's dangerous to use in close range, you can use that to your advantage. While it might be dangerous for you to use it in close range because you might hurt yourself, that means it also is dangerous to your opponent. If you learn how to heal your wounds in the middle of battle, you could use your Bakuton in a way that threatens the both of you. Maybe they fall into the blast, maybe they're forced to retreat a far distance to avoid it, but if you're able to heal through the damage you take pushing them off, then you at least will have regained your distance." Rumi shrugged her shoulders, giving a light chuckle along with her advice. "It's a bit exhausting on your stamina, and it might be a risky maneuver, but like Tane was saying-- if you're a long-range fighter, and you've let your opponent into close range where they excel, then staying there means you've already lost."

Natsumi brow furrowed, she had not thought of that. Medical skills… That is an interesting idea. If I can use an explosion to cover an escape at close range cause they are not expecting it, then heal myself of injuries that I sustain from it it would work, and it would be something her opponent would never think of having to expect. Her mind flashed back a moment to the spar, she could have just tossed an arrow or Senbon infused with explosive chakra haphazardly towards Tsume. The explosion would have made her, potentially, rethink her approach.

”What else could I use?”
She idly pulled the braid from behind her over her left shoulder. Letting her hands rub along it in as she thought. ”What if I want to do something they won’t be expecting? If the person gets in close, they know that I’ll want to put distance somehow between myself and them” it was less a question directed at Tane and Rumi, and more just one she asked without thinking what she was saying. She was always a long range fighter, people saw the bow and would presume that. But what if she opted to adjust. She wondered, if she could create ether directional bakuton jutsus… Or perhaps expand her skills with something more suited for close range as a back up.

”What if, I surprise them by charging at them… instead of trying to retreat”

The conversation continued to draft more and more options. Considering each possibility, Natsumi posed another possibility: what if she opted to surprise the opponent by charging them instead of attempting to retreat? At that, Rumi shook her head from side-to-side, dismissing the idea. "Until you have some experience in one of the close-quarters styles, I wouldn't recommend that. The element of surprise can only get you so far. While it might offer you a small opportunity to catch them off-guard, anyone worth their headband that prefers fighting up close will be able to adjust to it fast enough and counter. Without the skill to back it up, the surprise will most likely just get you killed." She stated bluntly in order to dissuade that train of thught.

"But, if you learn Taijutsu for example, that situation could turn out much differently. With the skills to back it up, the surprise could work in your favor. It would be smart to practice-- versatility is never a bad thing." Tane added in. Being specialists of Taijutsu themselves, they could attest to the usefulness of having it in your arsenal. Oftentimes, it wasn't a choice whether to engage in close or long range, making it crucial to be capable of tackling either option.

Natsumi folded her arms, left arm on the bottom propping up her right arm. Her right hand lifted to her chin, tapping on it as she mulled over what Tane and Rumi were saying. Taijutsu… Hmm… she held her hand in front of her. Flexing the fingers, letting them curl and uncurl from a fist. She paused a moment, holding a fist in front of her. Her eyebrows furrowed as she stared at the closed fist. She lowered her left arm Wait a second… Arrows and Senbon… They are an omnidirectional explosion… Do they have to be? Can I focus it in a single direction? she clenched her fist tight. And did a, well… really really poor example of a jab straight forward. A second after her arm fully extended, she opened her fingers. But with taijutsu… Could I use the momentum of the punch, to launch a directional explosion? Could I actually direct it? Natsumi looked over to Tane and Rumi with a big goofy grin on her face.

”That’s it!”
Her exclamation was one of incredible excitement. She turned to fully face the twins. ”Taijutsu is very directional, your punching or kicking away from your body. I’ve never wanted to use bakuton in close quarters because all of my skills are omnidirectional… Perhaps I could apply the two together? I maybe a novice at taijutsu right now, but combine it with my explosive chakra… And how much will that matter? And if that wouldn’t work… Perhaps then I could figure out a way to actually direct the explosive chakra blasts through other means” now, now it all seemed so god damn obvious to her. She had to resist the urge to bounce on her feet, or more like what she wanted to do. Run up to the two in front of her and hug them tight.

Fortunately, Rumi was experienced enough in controlling her emotions and outbursts to stifle the laugh that wanted to emerge at the poor demonstration of a jab. Noticing the errors in Natsumi's form, it became obviously that she really wasn't a practitioner in close-range combat. After a moment, the gloomy mood that hovered over her when they first entered the conversation had seemingly dissipated, replaced with a gigantic smile as the young woman was filled with energy. Their brainstorming session had finally bared fruit-- Natsumi connected the pieces, realizing the plausibility of channeling her explosive bloodline through controlled, directional movements in order to keep the blast from endangering her as well.

"There you go, you got it!" Tane cheered along with her, partially matching Natsumi's excitement with some of her own. "That'll be effective, yeah. Many Blast Release users end up doing something along those lines. It's a powerful force, and it becomes even scarier the more control you have over it." It was a nice feeling to have been able to help the Genin with only a minute or two of their time. "You're definitely going to need to work on your form, but once you're trained up on Taijutsu, you should be a hell of a lot more effective in battle."

Her arm dropped back to her side. Ah crapbasket was her next thought. How the hell do you train to be better at taijutsu? She knew how to do train with her bow, just aim at smaller and smaller targets from greater and greater distances. Repeat shooting at them till you can hit the bullseye, before making it harder and harder. ”Sooooo… about that” she sighed, ”I have very little idea of how to train in taijutsu… I mean aside from like push-ups and sits-ups… But like… form? What form?” Oh why did she think this was going to result in a lot of sore spots and pained muscles in her future. ”I’ve only ever trained with my bow, and that is just a matter of improving my accuracy and range with shooting at a target from longer and longer distances”

Least I got a solution to my problem though…

Now presented with a solution to the original problem, the Genin seemed lost as to how to implement the solution. Having the skill so natural, so much an innate part of them, Rumi was momentarily confused as to how one might not know how to train in Taijutsu. Fortunately, she managed to keep her mouth shut and avoided any sort of exclamation that would make Natsumi feel dumb. "It's not so different, really." Tane took the lead on explaining, a gentle smile placed on her lips. "In either case, you're practicing with your weapon through repetition, gradually pushing yourself to accomplish a task a little bit better each time. Instead of a bow, your body is your weapon. Of course, building up your muscles through those kinds of exercises is an important step, but that isn't all there is to it." Tane allowed that thought to settle for a moment, while Rumi picked up on the next verse to their lesson.

"When you're practicing Taijutsu, it isn't as simple as throwing a punch or a kick however you can. A big part of it comes from studying the body itself, learning how it moves and what works best. How you center yourself, where your momentum comes from ... They're all things that you have to think about. What you did earlier, for example ..." Rumi mimicked the poor jab, throwing her arm out there without full incorporation of her body to add power to it. "That only uses your arm, which makes for a weak punch. When you utilize more of your body, grounding your feet and twisting your waist along with it," Rumi demonstrated a punch with the Strong Fist style, angling her body out to the side and spreading her legs apart. With her legs bent, she brought her back arm down to her waist, and sharply jabbed out in front of her, turning her body as she did. "It gives a lot more force behind the blow."

"That's just the most basic look at it. The more you practice and study, the more you learn how to best control your body. As you practice day-in and day-out, you work on mustering just a little more strength behind a punch than the day before, or kick just a little bit faster." Tane summarized, hoping that the explanation helped Natsumi somewhat. Seeing as she seemed fairly clueless as to how the style of combat operated, the twins figured that bringing her back to some of the basics would lay out a stronger foundation for her to eventually build upon.

Natsumi nodded in understanding. It made sense, even if it seemed and looked odd to her. Kyujutsu had gotten her to be, a bit more rigid. Considering it was simpler to fire a bow when your body was as straight as an arrow and as locked in as one could be. This made her wonder something Kyujutsu is all, pretty straight forward. Nock arrow, aim bow, release. Its all a pretty straight forward base for how to fight, fill it full of arrows. Somehow I doubt taijutsu is that way, considering your using your body. Which can twist and contort in a variety of ways, how would that effect how you fight with it? Can’t really twist and contort a bow, otherwise you risk snapping it and then you just have some sticks with a string… she pondered it a moment, trying ot think out to phrase the question.

”Are there different… How to phrase it, styles? I guess that fits out of what comes to mind. For how to go about fighting utilizing taijutsu? Like, I cannot imagine that everyone just goes about punching and kicking without trying to infuse their own additional abilities to it…” she paused for a moment bringing up a hand to cup her chin. ”…And I can’t imagine what I plan to try to do can be done with just some generic style of punching and kicking. If I really want to use Bakuton in combination with taijutsu, I do not think just going after someone with jabs and kicks would work in a way that is safe for me” this was a slightly worrying realization. She actually would need to train not only how to punch and kick hard, but also how to then punch and kick in such a way that if she release some explosive chakra with the attack it will not go exploding in the wrong direction.

It was pleasant to see Natsumi so receptive to taking on the different approach to her struggle. Tane and Rumi knew it could be difficult and uncomfortable to tackle a situation from an angle that one wasn't familiar with, so it was a bold step to take. If the jab from earlier was any indication, Natsumi would certainly need to put her heart and soul into this course in order to reap its benefits. "Of course there are. All of you archers don't fire off arrows the same way, do you?" Rumi asked rhetorically with a brief chuckle. "There are countless different styles of Taijutsu. It's more than just being about everyone infusing their own abilities into it-- just looking at the body itself and how it moves, there are hundreds of different ways people choose to utilize it. Whether you prefer a light-footed style or one with your feet firmly grounded, soft swipes versus strong, direct hits, how you angle yourself ... Even without thinking about any special abilities you want to mix into it, there's a lot to think about." Tane explained, watching the girl before her to make sure that her face didn't appear too lost.

It was good that Natsumi was already considering how to incorporate her bloodline into her future style, but it was important not to rush it. "Take it slow for now. If you're too caught up on how to mix your explosions into it, you won't be focused on properly learning the basics." Rumi nodded in agreement with her sister, shaking her head side-to-side twice afterward to further emphasize it. "You should start off small, practice some of the most common fighting styles, use them to get a feel for how you can use your body and what your limitations. Once you have some practice under your belt, then you could start the process of making your own unique style."

Natsumi’s hand started to rub her chin in thought as she was listening to Tane and Rumi. Interesting she pondered over the idea of different footing and hitting and movement. Something told her that she would be better off with trying a light footed style first. Only reason was because with her experience at this current moment in taijutsu, that is to say none, trying to be nimble and quick about fending off the attack to retreat out and position. Being heavily planted like she does when going for a very long distance shot would root her in place, and her taijutsu skills suck. Something told her that was a horrible way for her to fight this early. Let alone, depending on how her explosive chakra would function when merged with explosion… She had no idea how that interaction would behave, so nimble and fleet of foot sounded good to her…

”What is a good beginner style to learn that would be based around being more nimble? Or perhaps just something that’s an easy thing to learn how to do?” she didn’t realize until just now that in her internal process, her chin had lowered closer to her chest. She looked up now before continuing, ”I, do not think that a more heavy handed or heavy footed style would do well for me. Even if I just learn taijutsu for the sole purpose of fending off someone who closes in on me, having to plant myself to block and counter their movements would be counter to that. But being fleet of foot and fleet of fist… That’s something I might be able to get behind…” she smiled.

Better watch out Tsume, next time is going to be vastly different if I have my way

The twins listened carefully as Natsumi described the type of style that she had interest in learning. Aiming to capitalize on agility to outmaneuver an opponent rather than conquer them with a straight-forward engagement or strength contest? That was something that the twin Kage could definitely assist with. "We could show you something for that. We have a style that matches that, one we developed a couple of years ago. It's fairly basic on its own, as it was made as a stepping stone to move into something more advanced with medical ninjutsu, but you might find it a good starting point." Tane explained, turning her head around to look for a suitable spot to teach in their surroundings. "Who knows? Maybe you'll end up building something off of it too."

Meanwhile, several internal grumbles gave voice to Rumi's dissatisfaction with the offering to teach. Couldn't you have at least said, 'Meet up again in an hour.'? She didn't mind teaching, of course, but the lingering temptation of food still wafted through her head. It's like you weren't trained to be able to survive with little food. From the outside, all that would be seen was the small tug of a grin at Tane's face as she quipped back at her sister. Besides, isn't it about time we get back into teaching? Team Saizo has grown so much ... They've become full-fledged ninja before we even knew it. Unable to find the words to dissuade Tane from the situation, Rumi relented, turning around to aid in the search.

"There's a small park a block down that way. It wouldn't be a bad place to do a little bit of practice, if you two want. It's better than working in the middle of the street, at least." Rumi pointed back in the direction that they had come from, angling her wrist inward to indicate a turn off towards the left.

A grin spread across Natsumi’s face hearing that Tane and Rumi had, well pretty much exactly what she would be interested in. She bounced happily on her feet, her grin widening… if that was even possible. At the mentioned of actually practicing and showing this taijutsu style to her. Especially since it sounded like they would be willing to do it now, ”I would be extremely grateful to you for showing me, but…” she paused, half trailing off. ”…I mean, you being Kage and all. I understand if you two have something more important to do” she added. It, felt a bit odd to her. To occupy the time of the Kemurikage for what amounted to one on one training. Surely there were things that were more important than training some… well basically random Genin. She felt bad in a way, but also very excited. It was not everyday that some random Genin did get a chance to get some one on one training with the Kemurikage.

The excitement was contagious, manifesting in Tane as a relaxed smile and a soft giggle. "I'm glad you're so excited for it." She commented, clapping her hands lightly together in front of her. The twins listened as Natsumi voiced her momentary concern, not wanting to occupy the village's leaders if they had something much more pressing to do. "Oh, don't you worry about that. We didn't have anything important to do, right Rumi?" Tane's sly, teasing expression shifted towards her sister, who grumbled back in response. "No, nothing at all." Rumi turned away from them, facing off in the direction of the field that she had pointed out. A brief chuckle escaped her lips, hopefully providing enough indication that she wasn't all that bothered (despite the grumbling over her lack of meal-time). "Well, let's get going. It isn't that far off." She began the march, with Tane's own pacing quickly catching up and falling in a rhythmic line.

It only took a couple of minutes for the park to come into view. As Rumi had mentioned, it wasn't particularly big-- it was mostly a community park in the middle of a shopping district, used primarily for non-shinobi-related purposes. A small arrangement of swings and jungle-gyms created a fun environment for the kids, and benches lined the walkways. The shrubbery was well-kept, regularly maintained and trimmed. The twins walked past the play structures, heading for an open patch of grass that was somewhat isolated from the few others that were around at the moment. Being in the middle of a communal area, it wasn't a fitting place for the more dangerous shinobi maneuvers. For teaching someone the basics of Taijutsu, however, this would prove more than enough.

Coming to a halt, the twins turned back to face the young woman. "Alright, this'll do. Are you ready to get started?" Tane asked, waiting for a confirmation. "Before we start, I should ask: what do you know about Taijutsu already?" Hopefully, the answer would be something more than nothing. "It's one of the courses you take in the academy, so I assume your instructors gave you at least a couple of lessons."

Natsumi was relieved a bit that she was not pulling the Kages away from something more pressing as she started to follow them. Pausing mid-step, she leapt back up to the tree and pulled her bag from the branch she had been sitting on. Landing on the ground with a soft thud she quickly ran to catch up with the twin Kages as they headed off to the park. She looked around the park as they walked into it. A small community one with jungle-gyms and swings for the kids and some benches for the adults. Note to self, no chakra related stuff here was the first thought that crossed her mind as she followed the two Kage further into the park to a more open section of the park. She looked around, an eyebrow partly lifting as it seemed… Maybe to small? It really depended on what she would be shown she supposed. She walked over to the side and set her bag down.

Her head snapped to attention looking back at Tane and Rumi as they spoke. A sheepish smile coming to her face, followed by a light hearted chuckle. ”Uh… About that…” she started, her right hand coming up to rub the back of her neck as she walked over towards the two. ”I was uh… Well… Since I took a liking to the Bow and Kyujutsu so much I did not exactly pay attention to the taijutsu stuff… I always uh…” another light hearted chuckle considered the whole reason she was here. Her cheeks started to get a little red as she continued ”…Never really thought I’d need it. So I only paid enough attention to pass the exams on it” her hand stopped rubbing the back of her neck but stayed still pressed against the back of her neck. She looked down for a moment before continuing, ”So in truth I only know the basics, punching and kicking. And using rotational force from my body to add weight to my punches and kicks but nothing beyond that” as she finished she was looking back at the two Kage. The red coloring to her cheeks a bit more noticeable, as it was from her viewpoint a really embarrassing thing to be admitting aloud. Especially after what had happened to her and Daisuke. Let alone ya know, admitting this to the KAGE…

A small sigh of disappointment was vocalized from Rumi. It wasn't at Natsumi's lack of Taijutsu knowledge, but rather at the instructors at their academy for letting the students graduate without a higher understanding of it than that. We should have a talk about the curriculum with the academy later ... That just seems sad. The woman complained internally to her sister, who nodded her head in agreement. "That's okay. We'll just have to start with the basics, then. Like with everything else, punches and kicks can become drastically better or worse depending on how you do it. Without a good form, all the strength in the world won't help you to do much with them. The basis for good form lies in a well-designed stance." At that, Tane began to demonstrate. Spreading her legs shoulder-width apart, she turned her body outward to narrow her body's size from the front. With her knees bent slightly, she placed her wait onto the balls of her toes, keeping her footwork light and nimble, ready to move at the slightest inclination. Bringing her upper-body inward slightly, she raised her loose fists up. Her back-hand sat comfortably out in front of her breasts. The other rested at the same height, yet further out in front her her body. She kept herself bent at the elbows, her muscles loose but not completely relaxed.

"Here, try to copy this stance. This is what we use for the 'Swift Step Style' of Taijutsu." She explained, keeping her body still for the green-haired woman to observe. Rumi took a step back, gesturing towards her sister to allow Natsumi the room to circle around if she so desired in order to look at how the body should be positioned. From there, it was a matter of waiting until the Genin felt comfortable giving her own attempt. That was where Rumi stepped in. "I'm gonna fix your mistakes, don't resist if I start moving something." Without any further warning, the tougher of the two Kage stepped in close, adjusting what areas she could to correct any imperfections. "Even the slightest shift can change how your body can perform, so each of these are important." Rumi lectured while sweeping her foot in beside Natsumi's back-leg, pushing her legs just an inch further apart. "Focus on getting more in-tune with your body, feeling how each adjustment feels in your muscles. A lot of Taijutsu is building up your muscle memory, so let your muscles get familiar with the stance." Rumi continued giving short critiques as she moved their student into position, only stepping away once Natsumi had met her high standards.

Swift step style?
Natsumi repeated the name mentally to herself as she circled around Tane. Shoulder width…turned frame…legs bent…arms in front… noting each thing as made one circle around Tane. She stopped and stared a moment at the positioning of the hands, it seemed odd to her. Out of everything else, both hands being somewhat in front of the body if not slightly offset. Was not apparent to her as to why. Stepping back Natsumi started to shift her body into the pose, matching Tane… Or at least trying to. Rumi stepped over and began to correct issues, like her feet not being far enough apart and her knees not being bent enough. As she adopted the pose, the positioning of the fists kind of made a bit more sense. The one in front could be used to push an incoming attack aside and then you have an instant follow up to a now exposed opponent.

”Muscle Memory huh? Kinda like drawing the bowstring back, knowing exactly where to release to get certain distances”
She mused it aloud, though it was more a way to compare what she was learning to what she knew. As it was probably best for her to compare these things to her own kyujutsu trials and tribulations. At least it would give her a frame of reference she was familiar with.

Once the girl had gotten it, Tane and Rumi inspected her, admiring the stance for a moment before returning to their positions in front of her. Natsumi compared muscle memory to drawing the bowstring back, knowing exactly how to pull it to achieve a desired effect. "Ehh, sort of. It's not just as simple as knowing how to do it. It's about having it so pressed into your mind that you can do it subconsciously. It's not so much about knowing how to do it, but instead knowing how to do it in a split second while you're mostly asleep." Without that level of subconscious reaction, it was useless in the heat of battle. In close combat, a split second could be the difference between landing a hit or having the flow of momentum turned against you. Before Taijutsu was something Natsumi could excel in, it had to be ingrained deep into her spirit.

"Good job with picking up the stance, Natsumi. Now, I want you to close your eyes, okay?" Tane asked politely, waiting until the girl obeyed the direction to continue. "Now, I want you to tune out everything else around you. Drown out all the other sounds, all the other smells. Concentrate only on your own position. Memorize each way you positioned yourself, each way Rumi corrected you. Imagine it all in your mind." Tane spoke soothingly, her mellow voice melding with the calming pitter-patter of rain around them. After a couple moments of stillness between the three, she turned to her sister, offering only a nod. A light grin crossed her face as she stepped in quietly. Then, with a quick motion, her foot came in. Catching Natsumi's leg just above the ankle in the curve of her own foot, Rumi pulled the green-haired woman out of her stance. It wasn't enough force to hurt, but it was definitely enough to disrupt her focus, likely breaking the stance entirely. A small laugh came from Rumi afterwards.

"Now, let's see if you were paying attention. Think you can get into the stance again? Without a demonstration this time." With that, Rumi was ready to circle around their student once more, watching Natsumi attempt to create the proper position from memory alone. This time, Rumi would wait longer before interjecting with her own critiques. By waiting longer, she afforded the Genin more time to realize her own flaws.
