Despite the, mostly, friendly banter the inevitable was just that. Kanari yelled again however this time it was an order as well as a declaration. Daggers fell from Saya's sleeves along with the words, the Aburame catching them and then turning them into a reverse grip as Kikaichu began to pour out of her. Rather than take to the air the insects clung to her forming a network of information gathering. It was then that she saw Kyo move before he did. He formed his handseal in her mind while the real one stood. She saw the wave of destruction he unleashed as the ground began to tremble. She witnessed herself and her insects become encased in something like crystal, a metaphorical checkmate. She sighed into her scarf. If it wasn't one thing it was another. If it wasn't fire it was a Jinchuuriki, if it wasn't a Jinchuuriki it was something she had never seen before that seemed to wash over her and assure immediate victory. It was a rather typical position to be placed in, she thought.

The Kikaichu that had been flying from Seto and Kanari changed course and flew toward Saya at top speed. A small, sharp breath out of her nose signaled Chiisai of what was to come and what he was to do. She could not think of a way to beat the crystallizing wave so she wouldn't.

The chameleon formed a few seals as the rest of the party jumped into action. As the ground beneath her sank her voice would call out to Kanari and Seto, "Take cover. The Lyuun will cover us all." Her warning was said as loudly and clearly as she could manage in the sudden burst of action and she hoped that her sensei and Kage would listen to what she had to say. The top of her head disappeared below the surface before Chiisai quickly closed the hole above them with another Earth Release technique.

The two would wait underground for what was to come next. Kanari and Seto both had at least a few Kikaichu still on them, her Shokaichu were still around, and Chiisai had his own forms of sensing the opponents whereabouts and actions. She had faith that the two higher ranking shinobi would get out fine. If they didn't then she would simply surrender. Her orders didn't hold weight if the mouth that gave them was no longer. Holding out hope, she gave herself another portion of her pilfered chakra just in case.

After grabbing the Hokage's hand, Kaoru found himself quickly grasped by the man's firm grip, and consequently assaulted by insects. Although his opponents were skilled, their strength wasn't something he couldn't break out of, but there was no point to try to escape at this point. There were too many of them, and he couldn't take them all on. As time passed, he could feel his chakra being drained by the bugs until he was unable to hold up his steel armor. His skin and clothing returned to normal and the anbunny waited for what they would do with him next. Then the unexpected happened! Several mysterious figures arrived riding what seemed to be some sort of giant bird; announcing themselves to be from Kirigakure. Reinforcements? Am I saved? They spoke of ending this fight, and resolving this in peace; making it apparent that they were on Kaoru's side in this. Perhaps it wasn't over yet after all? Words were tossed back and forth and it seemed like neither side was willing to budge. Then action. Large tree branches burst from the ground suddenly and sporadically; attempting to wrap up several of the kirigakure shinobi. Pollen began to erupt from flowers after the branches stopped moving, and the Kiri shinobi began to retaliate. Bones were grown, wind was released, swords were drawn, and crystals were formed. In this commotion, Kanari had released Kaoru to attack the bird and created a couple of clones in his place. As the kiri ninja's crystals shot out, Kaoru would take this chance to jump forward, off of the wall; facing away from the village. Geronimo! He had no chakra remaining, and would be useless in this fight, but perhaps he could escape? Perhaps it was possible one of the Kirigakure shinobi could catch him, and even provide some of their chakra to him? Of course the more likely scenario would be that he would just fall. If that was the case then he would hit the ground below with a thud and with a groan, get up and attempt to leave all this craziness and head into the forest.

Jūbei fidgeted with his sword, Yoshimitsu, sheathing and unsheathing it in contemplation of what to do. In a blur of actions, he had decided what was right to do.

With Seto seemingly taken care of, and Saya not an immediate threat, the purple-haired boy turned his gaze skyward just in time to notice a figure falling at an alarming rate, having seemingly been dropped from a high place. His instinct did not falter, and he instantly dashed for the figure.

If he could catch the person without fail, he would find a spot that was not in immediate vicinity of the main battle at hand. Jūbei would drop the boy gently onto the ground, and quickly unsheath Yoshimitsu, pointing it at his throat. "Friend or foe? Tell me your name, or I'm afraid your path ends here." he demanded, voice trembling by the end of it. His hand would not shake, though.

[After several days of discussion, the Board has come to a conclusion on how to handle this situation. Given that every other member of staff is present in this topic, I will be the one giving verdicts on any conflicts that arise. Please feel free to bring to me any questions that you have, and I shall promptly answer them.

For any that are unaware, we have a precedent on TNRPG (viewable earlier in this topic, even, here), that all attacks coming from a separate topic must be mentioned by the attacker in the post where the victims are.

In this circumstance, the attack from an outside topic (Ayano's attack here) was not mentioned by the attacker in this topic. According to precedent, that would render the attack void, as the proper procedures were not followed. The attacks from another topic are not valid until the attacker posts in the defender's topic.

However, some of the Konoha players acknowledged Ayano's attack without her having posted in this topic. This, in and of itself, means nothing, and the Kiri players could have chosen to ignore Eva's attack at that time, as procedure was not followed. However, they instead chose to acknowledge the attack; they chose to acknowledge Eva's pollen, which was more than they were obligated to do, and thus they legitimized that part of her attack even without Ayano having posted her attack in this topic.

However, given that Ayano did not post in this topic, only as much of Ayano's attack is valid as the Kiri nin would decide is valid. They chose to acknowledge the pollen and nothing else, meaning there is no other aspect of Ayano's attack (in this case, grasping tendrils of wood) that needs to be responded to. This means that no hits can be called on the Kiri shinobi, aside from any of those who did not properly respond to the pollen, which the group chose to acknowledge.

The topic will resume from Ayano's entrance, without any connected hits having occurred as a result of grasping roots. Her pollen attacks will remain and are valid. As well, given that her Advent of a Flowering World of Trees technique still exists, she may, in her current or next post, choose to formalize the attacks by the branches there, and then everyone in the post order after her may respond to them in kind, as they would a normal attack.]

(with the recent ruling the following has happened, just to clarify)

Right after you've dealt with the first advent and its pollens, the attack occurs again, except for the pollen, that has already been dealt with. So effectively you need to respond to the wood itself now, they work like I've described. The technique is S Rank Wood Release: Advent of a World of Flowering Trees Technique with double might points. Ayano does not enter this topic yet and is still where she previously was.

Btw, Greed and Jubei did not respond to the pollen, they're hit. Jubei basically jumped out of the windshield that would have protected him from it.)

Ayano entered, up in the sky, walking on top of a very large tree that lead towards the gates, but more importantly, Kanari, as she was commanded to do. The pollen attack from her technique had already been enacted and soon the technique would surprise her opponents once more. The tree went upwards diagonally, having grown from far behind the enemy backline. Chakra suppressed after her technique had been unleashed upon the world. She remained hidden between the thick forest's branches, trees, leaves and fog of pollen. She stepped, with haste yet with care to not keep a fair amount of distance from her now controlless sleep fog - with her chakra suppression up she had agreed to seize command of the amber cloud, it had been originally steered away from her allies but now it was a matter of time before it would settle upon them. Granted since none of them really knew what the pollens did, they'd naturally (hopefully) avoid it altogether. The growing trees would now grow rampant and dangerously, likely posing a threat to her allies as well, although the trees were originally never intended to target allied chakra signatures, they wouldn't go out their way to avoid them either.

Hoping to have reached her allies in time. She knew that she was about forty meters above the ground now but continued, the tree still ascending.

Meanwhile down below, unbeknownst to the little Senju, two had breathed in the pollen. One would fall sleeping towards the ground, probably crippled by the hard impact, but not dead. The other one that had forsaken the shield of his allies would meet the same sleepy fate, except he'd manage to catch the falling sleeper from 4 stories high (or something), but break some ribs in the process.

Wood Release: Advent of a World of Flowering Trees

Underestimated indeed. Even despite Saya's warning, the form of the Handsome Hokage had no intention of letting someone so close to them operate unimpeded. He may have swung his sword so deftly to bat away sand or wood, but Kanari was not as readily struck. Ducking low and moving in as the sword was swinging away from his opening, the clone lunged towards Kyo's midsection, tackling him unceremoniously. The man might have been quick, but he wasn't as quick as his opponent.

Even should the man realize what was coming and attempt to stop it, he had no guarantee of being able to strike the clone- much less so without giving ground to the sand. Either way, he would find his hand seals very much interrupted while Saya and Seto could retreat to a safe distance and the pollen continued to fall uncrystallized.

Simultaneously, back towards the ground, one of the other clones was making its way towards the bird. While the bowgirl took aim, however, the encroaching roots took shape and burst through the ground. While she thought for him to fly straight towards her, his path would be closely intertwined with these large vines. Her shot was loosed, though it would find its path interrupted by the wooden bulwarks that rose aggressively from the earth. In the spreading chaos, the clone would always be behind the trees and the insane scale meant there would be no entrance for the arrow. One of these trees shuddered and splintered with the power behind the shot, but the arrow would be completely obliterated before even approaching the opposite side.

With the crash, almost completely drowned out by the insane amounts of noise, the clone placed its feet on one of the approaching wooden tendrils before leaping high into the air and directly over the group on the bird, descending quickly with one palm outstretched.

And then suddenly both clones would poof away.

"Take cover. The Lyuun will cover us all."

It was the words Seto needed to hear, as Saya started to go into the ground, his student have worked together for quite that he knew and understood what was to come. As Seto prepared to move back out of the way Kanari had rushed the Lyuun to prevent his hand seals. As an tree rose up in front of Seto with enough thickness to prevent him from being seen by anyone in front of him.

The Uchiha who moved much faster than most allowed the tree to bring him up off the ground as he slide back six meters up into the air as the tree kept rising, Seto's right hand went to seals, completing them with an speed slightly faster than most of the Kirigakure shinobi. The tree extended to twenty meters into the air as the thick foliage covered him but, he had made a mental note of there location. As he stood on the branch, his right hand started to glow a bright white color as Raiton build up in his right hand. He realized that the trees were going to restraint the others as well as Kyo, moving out of the way of any crystallization that was even likely not to happen. The knocking down of Kyo was good enough for Seto to allow him to do what he is doing.

Seto made no waste of time as Sand begin to form under feet creating a platform as he slide off the branch of the tree onto the platform, he dropped himself down into the foliage, appearing slightly into view of the following shinobi, with them having to deal with trees he had an opportunity to take advantage of the distraction. Seto threw two homing discs of lightning about two meters in length and four meters in width. The first one homing down toward Kyo, avoiding the tree by moving to the right showing off the homing abilities of the disc. The first disc arching downward coming toward the arm that happened to handle the sword Kyo had, hoping to knock the sword out of his hands, if he didn't move do something about it threatening to cut his arm off as well.

The sand was the forming again under his feet as the second homing disc of Raiton went east in a curve and came back around toward the top of his blade looking to hit it from the top. The sand finished it's forming, unknown to Kyo that he had control of even the dirt he stood on, the sand shot up from his feet looking to impale his legs and feet from eight different ways with sand, two piercing his ankles, two piercing his calfs and four piercing the heels of his feet to prevent his movement and slow him down. Seto watched in earnest as he was still far enough away to move, and his Sharingan watched the Kirigakure shinobi as they all lit up like blinkers to the Sharingan. He held the chakra of raiton burning bright within his right hand. The inner workings of his tailed beast at hand as well. Use some of Ore-Sama's chakra!

[OOC: One thing:

Saya did precog for the pair. Kanari acted on that knowledge to try and intercept Kyo, Seto relied on Kanari to interrupt and did not act on that knowledge other than to change his mind about things (something that required time to do, which I assume he acknowledged based on the way he worded his post) and enact different techniques. Attached to this is that he listed his handseal speed under Coordination, but it's the lower of the two, which is Ref at Masterful. I'll be posting from there.]

The quite speedy Hokage clone did, indeed, mark itself as quicker than Kyo, but what Kyo lacked in celerity he more than made up for in dexterity. Kanari's own bodily movements were not so agile when not armed – indeed, the swordsman outclassed him by two orders of magnitude in that fashion. While the Hokage needed to, in order to full on tackle Kyo, cross some distance, the only thing that Kyo needed to do was, with his body's own deific synergism, merely think to extend his chakra flow and allow the overconfident Leaf-nin to run into it while he maneuvers the physical blade itself to deflect the previously mentioned attacks. To lure in and allow the enemy to defeat themselves – that was the way of the waves, and this confusion was the trademark of Kirigakure no Sato, hiding their strength in the mists until the time was right.

Thus not needing to worry about being interrupted, his technique completed ahead of Seto's, though even if Seto's had completed, there would be little need for Kyo to worry – once he had been crystallized, his technique would no longer be active. Seto would not simply be trapped but actually turned into crystal along with all of the sand, pollen, and above-ground bugs. Assuming the clones did not poof, they too would be turned to that gleaming prismatic crystal. He kept his footwork clean, stepping with perfect balance on anything growing underneath that he could not cut and not at all launched into the air, crushed, or anything such as that. He would, if needed, jump and dance and maneuver while his sphere of protection continued, trusting at least that his allies would protect themselves in similar fashion.

Without allowing himself to be caught unaware or by surprise by attacks that might happen while he spoke, he shouted, “I can destroy him at any time. Surrender, or he dies – I'm not lying!”

The signature of the Mokuton user blinked out from behind Shouko, meaning they too had Sensory and were beginning to block their own signal. It was in that moment that something strange happened though, the signature flickered back into existence but she could sense no intent from it, almost as if the person had simply stopped trying. The signatures of the bunny-eared ANBU and Jubei took that same kind of feeling and she could only imagine it had something to do with the fact that they had been out of the range of her and Kyo's protection. The trees were beginning to erupt from everywhere, including under their feet. Dropping her bow in that same instant she formed a single handseal and focused a massive but concentrated cutting burst of Wind at the roots forming under them. The roots were slowed by the barrier of wind, which thankfully gave her enough time to attack them. For a moment it seemed that they were even, but due to the thin application of the wind it was finally able to cut through. She repeated this for each individual near her, cutting down the roots one by one the best that she could. It was a decent plan but it was by no means foolproof and she hoped the others would attempt to protect themselves as well. Using her above average speed and dexterity granted to her by her time dancing as well as the fact that she could sense the attacks coming, she danced around the incoming vines and roots, cutting away at them, jutsu after jutsu. The bird carrying her allies moved as best that it could, darting between grasping roots as they were dealt with.

Kanari's signature hopped from tree to tree in a way that made her glad she had gave up her idea of shooting him. The terrain was shifting every second but unlike before it seemed as though it was chaotic and without guidance. Kyo managed to stop one of them and as Shouko was dealing with the roots that had managed to pierce through her barrier the Hokage's signature grew close, far too close, before simply disappearing. She could feel all of his signatures conjoining back into the first and if able, she would have breathed a sigh of relief. The Lyuun's voice called out amidst the rabble, heeding a surrender or a murder. A pit formed in her stomach then. Despite what Seto had said and how she felt about him when he said it, did he really deserve to die for this? Like the bundled up girl had said, they were all only here on orders.

She prayed that surrender was the path taken.

11 watched wide eyed as events quickly unfolded all around him. In a matter of moments the Kanari colnes disappeared in a flash, hastily making their way to attack. All the while Kyo managed to flash through a flurry of hand seals creating an area of crystal all around him, catching Seto in the mix. His body encased within the crystalline cage in the blink of an eye. Kyo making it look so easy. The group on the phoenix had their own issues to deal with as tree and roots began to grow around them.

11 made his way off the ink bird following Shouko as she attacked the branches with wind attacks. He hoped Mizui would follow since he had told him to stay close, but now was not the time to worry about that. As he charged puppets and Samehada at hand he looked for any weak spots that the wind attacks had made within the wood that surrounded them. Then with all his might he swung Samehada with full force at the punctured wood. Splinters and fragments of wood littered the area all around him. The sound of cracking wood filled the air as he smashed his way through piece by piece. His puppets dancing from broken branch to broken branch as he forced a clearing in the brush. Now was not the time for the Kiri nin to give way, they needed to make their presence known. They would not stand for this war and they would do everything in their power to end it.

When 11 had finally finished clearing away the damaged trees and fending off broken roots he made his way over to Kyo. He had just announced that they would be taking Seto prisoner and that if they didn’t surrender he would die. 11 felt pretty indifferent in this aspect, this was war it was his life or theirs. Plain and Simple, so if he were to die then it should benefit them as much as possible.

“Should you dispose of him, please make sure to do your best to keep the heart in tack. We will need it.” he said to Kyo. "Shouko is there anyone still nearby?"

((OOC: I'm not sure if it was unclear or not, but... Jūbei was on the ground the whole time. Just wanted to clarify for the sake of making it easy for everyone else to visualize the situation :P))

It would seem that, despite his noble attempt to save a life, Jūbei would not make it too far.

While he had managed to run out fast enough to intercept the falling Kaoru, he could not get far. Almost immediately, a cloud of intoxicating pollen shifted over the battlefield, causing the two boys to knock out as soon as they had inhaled it. "N-No... I can't be done already, can I...?" he mumbled, barely able to muster the energy to speak even a murmur. His body grew heavy, heavier than he had ever felt himself before. Not after long, he slumped on the ground. With the last of his energy he would turn to face the rest of his allies before slipping off into unconsciousness.

As the battlefield continued to evolve around them Mizui was caught off guard with the offensive, crushing nature of the incoming branches and roots that looked to be aimed at every Kiri-nin. That pollen must be what took out Jūbei and that bunny-eared fella. It’s doesn’t seem too different to my chemistry work, I’ve got to extract it out of him! His attention was focused on staying within Shouko’s wind technique that combated the pollen, forming three quick seals that would get him through this ordeal. As he formed the three hand seals Mizui took a deep drag on his pipe, igniting the entirety of the bowl and taking in the combat stimulant he’d prepared earlier. Water erupted from the Nuibari’s hilt upon the third seal’s completion, creating a Suiton squid that tethered itself to the legendary sword. The Hozuki pushed himself inside the squid, the amorphous chakra creation easily turning itself inside out at its base to allow its creator to dip himself inside of it. Now melded with the water creature Mizui was able to contort the squid through the enclosing branches and roots, slithering around the growing tree limbs to avoid getting splattered all over the place.

Nimbly avoiding the tricksy trees Mizui followed his sensei and Shouko, moving his torso outside of the squid as he gathered a large quantity of wire to toss Jūbei’s way. Tying a large lasso with his teeth he threw the wire towards his friend, the rope soaring through the air and fitting loosely around his torso before he fell to the ground. Pulling on the wire the loop tightened, bringing his unconscious teammate into the protective wind barrier and out of further harm's way.

Once Kyo made his announcement Mizui took the opportunity to work on Jūbei, laying him down and focusing on refinding chakra into his hands to begin the delicate work. The target was easy enough to find, it was pulling it out that was the complicated part. Slowly but surely Mizui worked to remove the pollen, pulling it straight out of his side in a small clump that hovered in the middle of his chakra laden hand. He made sure not to come into physical contact with the pollen, having seen what happened when it came into contact with Joobs here. Retrieving a glass vial that use to hold the herb he consumed but a few moments ago he carefully deposited the pollen into the vial for later studying. It was clear that Jūbei was in no mortal danger, it seems that the sleeping agent has simply knocked him out immediately upon contact.

“Hey Joobs, come on buddy. Give me something here.”

Having no idea if the procedure would work at all Mizui’s face twisted into an anxious and worried mess, hoping that his quick thinking would work to bring his friend out of the deep slumber.

As it was time and time before, the actions that Saya foresaw came to fruition. It was becoming more and more apparent to the Aburame that these were much more than simple premonitions, rather these seemed like true prophecy. That revelation was frightening to consider. Did it have something to do with the voices she constantly heard? Did it have something to do with the insects that seemed to speak to her moments before they should have? It was something she would have to delve into later, to try and discover just what it was that she experienced in battle. She only hoped the answer wasn't some kind of imbalance. She was already paranoid, to be told there was something different about her would only do more to aggravate that paranoia.

In a flash, a flash that she attempted to warn her comrades about, the battle had gone from raging to a standstill. Kikaichu and Shokaichu sent back signals that were both unbelievable and terrifying. The clones of Kanari had simply gone back to their original host, leaving only Seto and Saya against the enemy shinobi. To top that, it seemed that her sensei had not been able to avoid the wave despite her warning. The Lyuun called out a warning and an ultimatum. She could stay were she was, simply hold her position underground until Kanari made his stance on the situation known. That seemed to simply be the route of not losing rather than the route of winning. It seemed they had been bested, an outcome she had expected and foreseen. The enemy countered them in many ways, outnumbered them in more of those ways. She nodded solemnly, the chameleon in her scarf hesitantly opened a path to the surface.

Walking slowly out of the earth behind her sensei, the Aburame took in the battlefield with her own eyes. She had not thought her insects to lie or betray but to see it herself? Dire was a term that seemed light. She retracted all of the insects in the area that hadn't been crystallized and threw her daggers into the dirt. Blades sunk into the freshly turned soil as she raised her hands to the air. Her eyes turned to Kyo's chest as she lowered her head slightly.

"So be it."

As the anbunny jumped through the air towards the ground below, he felt a funny sensation spread throughout his body. It seemed like it probably had something to do with the airborne pollen. A person below him seemed to jump underneath to try to catch him. How thoughtful... That was the last thought that went through Kaoru's mind before it went blank. His limp body fell through the air and was caught by a Kirigakure shinobi. The fate of the bunny-hooded boy would be determined by whoever claimed possession of his unconscious body.

All of a sudden everything seemed to have stopped. The pollens went higher and higher into the sky and unless the Senju commanded them too, they wouldn't come back. They weren't even close from subsiding though, they could stay all day long. But right now they were out of everyone's reach. For now. Kyo's voice reached its way into Ayano's ears, a few bits and pieces were missing from his declaration but she managed to puzzle it all together when she glanced down into the distance. She was too late after all.

Their jounin had been captured in what seemed to be a pink imprisonment. The Senju couldn't discern precisely what it was from her distance but one thing she was sure about. One move of hers would determine whether her sensei lived or died. Her tiny gloved hands clasped together momentarily, but quickly they trembled back down. If she'd use chakra now...they could spot her, if not for that she could fail, her failure costing the life of an ally, one whom she wanted to protect in the first place. The wood user just couldn't risk it, it scared her too much. "What would Kazu do?" she thought. "What would Lord Kanari do?" maybe he'd have a plan, maybe he'd whisper her more instructions from the distance. For now, it was best to stay hidden she figured, still standing on top of a large tree, hidden from view.

If only Etsu-sensei was here now to save the day...unless...they had captured Etsu! Eyes widening to the sudden realization that whoever got trapped and became threatened to be killed could have been her own sensei.

Meanwhile despite the waterboy’s efforts both his ally and the Anbu got caught by the large tree branches, the thick empowered roots twirling around their bodies as it lifted them up in the air while simultaneously breaking their bones, in particular their arms, legs and a few ribs. They would survive ofcourse, but they were neutralized for now. Lifted up into the sky, climbing higher and higher until completely out of sight and reach.

The man was quick with a sword, there was no question. Though the idea of allowing the clone to impale itself would be found wanting as the clone pivoted on its heel, curving around the sword's tip and trying to further close the distance. This dance would prove unfortunately inane as, ultimately, there would be no time to stop the hand seals. One handed hand seals, despite the meta, was not something Kanari could have anticipated and his being caught off guard would prove to be catastrophic. Its mission incomplete, the clone poofed in accordance with the original's wishes.

Imagine the Handsome Hokage's surprise and dismay when it turned out that Seto had also fallen victim to this oversight! After everything that had transpired here today, was it really a single set of hand seals that would stop the first battle of this new war? Rushing through the air, his eyes fixated on the crystalline structure with some combination of fury and concern, the Handsome Hokage was fast approached and stopped fast in kind. Floating some 30 meters away, he would stop and address the Mist swordsman.
Oh, and Kanari redid his armor properties real fast on his way.
Shortly thereafter, two blurs that stopped to take the form of Kanari himself would be found atop an engorged root beneath. One watching towards the archer and one watching back towards the gate, they served as the Handsome Hokage's extra eyes.

"Now easing, easy!" Kanari's voice would sound, stern but calmly. "Nobody has a reason to die here. Allow his life." Extending a reassuring palm outward, he hoped to convey a willingness to talk. Despite their progress on this day and their ultimate objective in the war, there was now only one singular goal in the Hokage's mind: Save Seto's life.

Seto Sharingan quickly recognized the magnitude of the jutsu used, being his first time seeing it, the crystal particles lighting up like a beacon, but also in that moment Seto realized he wasn't quick enough to get away from the crystal. He observed in his eyesight Kanari's clone poof as his legs got encased in crystal. Saya started to descend into the earth. Seto also knew he couldn't move as the crystal encased his legs. He still brought his hands forth trying to form seals, Boar, Tiger, as Seto moved his head to the left and the right of him, observing that no other genin were in the radius to be hit with the crystal made him happy. It also brought his mind back to a previous event that occurred not too long before they left for the Chuunin exams.
Quote:
He knows those emotions quite well actually, Seto opt to listen but offer nothing to say as he had hard time with it himself. Seto looked away again and back down at the tombstone of his mother and father. He understands quite well the feeling of it not getting easier. As Chojiro then would go to reach his hand up to rub the back of his neck. Seto breathed in slightly and exhaled as the wind shifted in the area and it got slightly more chilly out. The change in the wind brought goosebumps to Seto's skin. Then the words that would come next was posed as a question toward Seto.

"Do you regret being a shinobi? Sometimes I think that if I hadn't taken this life that she'd still be around."

Seto would remain silent for a couple moments, bringing the flask back up to his lips and tipping his head back take a nice decent drink. As it washed down his chest and that warming sensation hit again he would bring the arm holding the flask back down to the side of his body. He would remain staring at his mother and father's tombstone as he spoke.

"I don't regret it because it's been in my family for years to be an shinobi. I would be lying to you if I didn't blame myself. Thinking I could have done more. Trained harder. I would then sometimes think I was weak cause of it happening. And, then other times I was so wrecked with grief that I thought it wasn't worth living. The truth of it is and what my old age has taught me. Is they would be unhappy if we changed how we lived our life on an accord of there death. Sometimes it becomes so unbearable that unfortunately it does happen. I used to think that way. Now, I have new bonds. Those I have formed in absence of my mother and father. I will hold strong onto that bond with them, cause it's what my mother and father would have wanted. I trust that Inoe would be unhappy if you stopped being a shinobi. So, you still have a friend left in this world. Reality is Inoe is still with you. Maybe not in the physical but, for sure in the spiritual."

Seto would turn toward Chojiro, placing his right hand on his shoulder of the man, looking toward him with a serious look but a closer look in his eyes you can see for a single moment the tinge of pain raising to the surface briefly but slowly going away.

"It never goes away. It just gets easier. You have people who think you should remain here for awhile. After all, you are an Jonin now. Soon, you will have if you already don't have someone who looks up to you like a father. You may not be blood related but they become your family. I care about my students that I would do anything to protect them. I know that is what my mom and dad would want for me and it would bring them great joy."
Seto was set into crystal, with a smile on his face and holding the hand seal for boar together. He was unable to move or do anything. His face carried a look of confidence. As if he knew regardless this was his life. He is an shinobi.

Kanari's arrival was less a blur and more a really fast guy moving really quickly for the trained eyesight of Kyo. Still, he was happy to see that someone had taken him seriously aside from the lovely Aburame, whom he'd gifted a grin and a wink. I figured she'd be reasonable! She seemed the type, he thought to himself even as the Handicapped Hokage arrived on the scene. The swordsman's guard was still up, careful not to step into any potential traps and keeping lines to him from any potential enemies decidedly less than straight. Knowing that the man had tried something incredibly foolish already, he didn't put it past the attractive man - which despite his SA, did not win points with Kyo because he sees attractive guys as rivals - to try something equally dangerous and strange.

Easing, easy? he thought to himself, one eye squinting slightly. Wow, I hope he doesn't decide to say anything more complicated. He kept Hiramekarei in guard with one hand, the twin handles of the sword turned so that one handle guarded the hand with which he gripped it. "I know that better than anyone. Surrender your forces for capture, lay down your weapons, and we can end all hostilities here." That was it - that was the hard, jagged pill that he'd prescribed for Konoha - their remedy. It was fairly simple. If they can trust, then they have a chance at being trusted. If they can't trust, they're unworthy of such consideration. Everyone can walk away from here if he makes the right decision.

Between her actions and those of the puppeteer, 11, the two had managed to cut down the roots and trees that were grasping for them. Sweat clung to her forehead from the exertion and the sudden rise in humidity that came with the veritable rain forest's arrival. The rise and fall of her chest, normally so casual and controlled, had switched to fortissimo her heart a drumbeat in double time. Despite that however, they had done it. They had broke through and made it out the other side in one piece and untouched. Her eyes scanned the battlefield though her sensory had already told her enough. The Wood Release user she had fought at the Exams and then met again here was still hiding their signature somewhere behind them, Seto had been caught in the crystallizing wave, and Saya had thrown down her weapons. With an audible huff she lowered he barrier of wind.

With an appreciative hand, she touched 11's shoulder, "Thank you for helping out." She then leaned in so only the Jounin would hear. "Should this not be the end of the battle, the one responsible for all of these trees is somewhere behind us. They're hiding their signature but that was their location beforehand." That information would likely not be necessary for the man, but it was better safe than sorry.

The wait for Kanari's response to Kyo's call seemed like it took forever. She felt a harsh tension in her chest as she waited, eyes turning between the heavily clothed girl and the crystalline man. After what seemed like eternity the Hokage appeared and began to speak in his usual fashion of just-barely-using-words. Kyo called out the ultimatum she had been expecting. She stood in slight awe of the swordsman. He was confident and spoke quickly. She was thankful that others had decided to come to Kemurigakure's aid that day. Part of her was afraid she would have been alone in her decision.

It seemed as though the kiri nin had made a shift in the tide of battle. As tree and roots littered the area around him 11 would check their ranks. It seemed as though joobie had fallen victim to the spore with Mizui trying to aid the boy with his ijutsu. While this took place kyo kept Seto within the crystal cage. Shouko dropped her barrier just behind him as she let out a sigh of relief.

Things seemed to be going smoothly, though 11 still kept his guard up. As he looked to the sky the handsome hokage flew back into the scene with two clones in tow. As he eyed the sky Shouko placed a hand on his shoulder informing him that the person responsible for the previous attack was still near by but was suppressing their chakra.

"Thank you." he whispered over his shoulder to her "Keep as many tabs on them as possible. If they or anyone else turn up again I want to know. Keep your guard up."

11 hoped that hokage would keep things peaceful. Yet he was also the one who started this war; trying to keep things calm in the way he spoke. 11 didn't trust this man, he could see the monster that was behind that beautiful mask. A monster similar to his own how could he think that death could be avoided in war? Seeing as how Kyo was the one who had trapped Seto the hokage would be addressing him. 11 would be ready to act as the events would unfold.

Boy, Jūbei sure is incapacitated.

Despite Mizui's efforts to retrieve the poor boy, it was for naught, and the twisting roots of Ayano's techniques had already snatched the latter up. His limbs were broken, though he would not realize this until he would finally wake up.

And that's... pretty much it. Not much else to say, he's just knocked out for the time being. Neat.

"Noooo!"

Mizui cried out as his attempt to bring Joobs to safety failed miraculously, his teammate swallowed up by the undulating vines that had assailed their group. Luckily he wasn't pulled underground or brought completely out of sight, it did look like Jūbei might have survived the vicious attack. At least for now. An internal struggle raged within him, on one hand, the battle hung on the ultimatum put forth by Kyo and on the other hand his friend’s life could very easily be in danger. Gripping his sword tightly he tried to push back the tears that welled up under his eyes, every muscle in his body screamed to move and tear his friend free from the wood that ensnared him. The only thing that kept Mizui in place was the fear that a reckless move would put his friend in further danger. What he did hold in his power was to voice this concern, having all the more edge with the Kiri-nin holding one of Konoha’s hostage.

Sliding over to where 11 stood he leaned in, a nervous voice asked about his friend. “Wh-what about Jūbei? He’s still trapped in those vines, if we could get him out I should be able to easily heal him! But, if we don’t get him soon…” Mizui’s words quickly lost the courage he tried so hard to keep up, showing his true inexperience at the first sign of losing someone.

She eyed the opposition wearily, knowing full well that at any moment herself and her sensei could be dashed away. It was a different, yet somehow similar, feeling to how she felt after her Chuunin Exams fight. She had lost again but again she could draw that the reason for her failure did not lie solely on her shoulders. Partially this loss was on Kanari for bringing nothing but Genin to a battlefield. Partially this loss was on Seto for placing his faith in Kanari to stop Kyo Lyuun's attack. She had done her best to warn them knowing that the Kanari they were with was just a clone and that even if it should fail no real harm would be done to the original. She had her trust in the Hokage but it seemed that it was not as blind as her sensei's was. That blind trust was the reason she was standing now, and he was encased in crystal.

Frustration was the deeper emotion than fear. While she did worry about her survival and that of her sensei a stronger feeling churned in her gut. She was not one to believe that life was fair or that it owed anyone anything. Never would she believe herself entitled to something or expected things to just fall into her lap. However recent events had been dramatic examples of just how unfair life was. Beginning at the Exams where she started her match already outnumbered only to have one of her teammates freeze and the other... Maia had trusted her blindly, the same way Seto had trusted Kanari and both had paid the price for that action. The words of her sensei echoed in her mind, that the most important thing about being a shinobi was teamwork.

Teamwork had lost her two battles.

Her initial resentment and hesitation toward the idea seemed justified. After the Exams she and Seto had gone after Sanosuke but, in the only display of allegiance that Suna had portrayed, the Jounin was cut down by the Kazekage. From there to "fighting" Shingen, if you could ever call it such a thing. A grandiose display of how his strength was greater than the Genin's as if his title didn't speak loud enough. Now here, facing down the members of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist, again, outnumbered. She bit her lip under her scarf, the tang of iron in her mouth from the small cut it caused.

Where was teamwork now? The position they had been placed in was done by the single action of a single man. Kyo Lyuun had not relied on teamwork. He had not waited patiently for his allies to act. He had not worked to overcome their weakpoints with his strengths. He had simply acted and through his actions he had stemmed the tide of war. That, that was what Saya wanted to be. That, that was what power looked like. As much respect as she had for Seto, today was the distinction between principles. Teamwork was, as she thought it to be, unnecessary and hindering.

(sorry short post, not much to do.)

Not a lot happened ever since the capture of their jounin, Seto Uchiha. The Hokage joined the fray once more, or that was atleast all Ayano could see from her point of view. Sadly she couldn't hear what was being said but she knew for sure, if needed, her Kage would call for her aid once more. Crimson eyes suddenly met the two unconscious body that was barely ten meters below her now, still rising. They had two prisoners of their own now! Maybe they could bargain the release of their jounin for one of their own? Kill wasn't the objective, the Senju knew that, so killing them wasn't an option, their bodies seemed crippled and bloodied though, that meant that they weren't a threat right now. She looked down upon her allies once more, able to discern who was who, but just barely really.

She kneeled, peeking down below from the height, chakra still suppressed, at least...for the time being.

Trust was a strange thing to expect while holding a knife to someone's throat. What exactly was it that he was meant to trust? Kanari did not know Kyo, did not know his orders, did not know what lengths he would go to end this damnable conflict. There could be no trust beyond that of the blind variety, a gamble. To barter for Seto's life on the off chance that this swordstranger and his ilk would spare the best that Konoha had to offer? The Handsome Hokage had an obligation to save Seto, but he had a greater obligation to the village as a whole.

"Please take me," Kanari started, taking Ruyi Jingu Bang and passing it over the staff form of Enma. "Kan? What are you doing?" An eye opening on the weapon, it peered into the Handsome Hokage's soul and knew this battle was lost. Silence then befell the summon as an arm reached from the staff to take the weapon before disappearing into a puff of smoke. Likewise, each of the clones here and at the gates did the same.

Now free of all weapons, Kanari's armor glowed a brilliant yellow before it too disappeared. Disarmed and unarmored, the Handsome Hokage held his arms out wide. "Another life for one. Take me and finish this battle. You only need me." he started once more, his lower lip trembling as softly as the wind brushed his hair. This was fear, this was frustration- but above all, this was duty.

"But please forgive others. Let those that are led, as you have, leave. This is my war, my fight, my transgressions. I'm beg you."

In good conscience, Kanari simply could not give the order for his people to surrender themselves to a hostile power- not while they still had the opportunity to escape. Perhaps they would surrender themselves, a show of solidarity that they stood with their Hokage. Perhaps they would wait for Kyo's denial of these terms and leave on their own accord, sacrificing Seto to save themselves. It was now their choice, their lives. There was no world, however, where Kanari would order their lives to the line on the mere chance that they could save one other.

The Handsome Hokage could only hope that these swordspeople were a merciful band.
