When Konoha had decided to dismiss Kiri, they hadn't done their research. Beyond the fact that Kyo and their bunch held sacred Kirigakure relics, Kyo himself was the descendant of one of the most powerful Mizukage – and as well, running through his veins was the blood of one of the most powerful Otokage – even his very spirit was ready to protect this place. Rumbling caused Kyo's hand to immediately shoot up to his sword's hilt, his other hand already acting to produce handseals. I hadn't wanted to do this so early, but I guess this is it.
His gaze had been upon Saya, distracted as he was by his own vices, and so to bind him with Genjutsu via eye contact made no sense as he reacted by backing away a step. “Bad move,”
he stated, spinning a full circle and backing away a little further as that legendary blade, the Twinsword, Hiramekarei, lashed out in a spinning display of master swordsmanship. The ease with which he simply overpowered and delayed the sand reaching out to him and any stray wood release seemed to match his laid back style perfectly, the beautifully whirling weapon like an extension of his will. Meanwhile, uninterrupted, his hand completed the unique seals required to reach out with his bloodline. “Take 'em,”
he stated as an invisible wave of crystallizing chakra reached out to every individual grain of sand, every piece of pollen, every bug, and every enemy combatant in the immediate vicinity. Seto had stepped far too close, and would be the first to experience the uncomfortable sensation of being turned into crystal, while Saya would be next and then, further away, the Hokage's Kagebunshin – the technique, however, was nigh instantaneous. There was no running from the wave, and it was not blocked by structures.
His supreme close-quarters ability with the weapon he held the most familiarity for kept his hands and feet protected, quick-stepping with the sure-footed practice of a lifetime of training. The very shape of the blade seemed to come alive, his own prismatic chakra color seeming to encircle him in ways that the physical blade couldn't reach. He was a scintillating god of his sphere of influence, and all of the little crystal figures, the shining motes of crystalline light reflected the radiance of his chakra as well as the sky's natural light. This glittering arena was Kyo's alone to command, and he did so with the authority of the Third Otokage, Keshoukkei Tatsuya.
