Shivering against the cold, the silver-haired girl let out a long sigh. Her breath hung in the air in front of her as she swiped a hand through it. "That Uru, she's so impulsive. What did she even come back here for?" she said aloud, hoping her voice would somehow fight off the cold. Luckily the cold seemed to stay in the Land of Iron and the closer to home she got, the warmer the weather got. After some time of walking, the girl found herself at the gates of the village. She was angry at this point. There was probably no way they'd get back in time for the next round of the Exams. She had hoped to catch Uru on the road somewhere but that miracle was one she did not get. A glimpse of a small girl in the distance however, lit a fire in the Yuki's stomach.

Having arrived in the Land of Smoke, Shingen was quite happy to find an absence of any smoke at all. He had feared that he would arrive to late, and that he would find either flaming battlefields or smoking ruins. Instead, he was greeted by what was, for the time, the beautiful scenery of rolling hills and fields; something not entirely unlike the Land of Rivers, which Shingen not fancied calling his home. However, despite the peace that he found here, Shingen was still uneasy, and for a number of reasons. He did not know when the war would arrive, only that it was sure to, and he feared such beautiful scenery being marred by blood and sword. He also felt anxious, not knowing the exact details of the war as it had unfurled. Being halfway across the world, Shingen wondered if the news of the war had even reached most of the people in this would-be paradise. If it had not, was he the bringer of bad news?

Shingen was unsure if the guards standing infront of the gates would let him pass or not. However, what Shingen was sure of was that he didn't have the time to sit around and figure that out. Time was short, and he needed information. He couldn't simply wait to find out. Igniting in a flash of blue and weaving several quick seals, Shingen felt his body leave the ground and hover into the air. At his maximum speed, he soared through the village gates with a flash; uncertain if the guards below could have even seen him or not. He was sure that he had likely triggered some kind of sensor, even if they couldn't see him, but that didn't matter. He was on his way to the person in-charge, after all.

Exit.

The False Light Shrouded, Shrouded in Darkness
"No matter how wonderful, tradition exists..." Kanari sighed to himself as he left the Chiming Forests. It was a gorgeous day, warm and sunny, but one the Wartime Hokage could not enjoy on this long trek towards the gates of Kemurigakure. As he approached, the distant and jagged structures that pierced the heavens were met with nothing less than scorn. His brilliant blue eyes, squinted in hatred, wanted little more than to see these ambitious structures reduced to rubble. Donning his immaculate and glinting red armor atop his flowing red robes, he would surely be seen by any Konoha shinobi that had stopped shy of this open field. His windswept black hair and fearsome weapon in hand, the sight of their Hokage would be the signal:

It was time to advance.

Ruyi Jingu Bang in hand, he would only be stepping towards this structure for a few minutes. During this time, the guards manning the entrance to the village would not see the approaching aggressor. Kanari, ever impatient, would not keep them waiting long, however. Once he was confident that the members of his village would spot him, his form would suddenly be replaced by a silhouette of dust.

In what one guard could only describe as a sudden blur and a large whack before being left unconscious himself, Kanari had dispatched a pair of guards at the gate. It was too little too late, however, as the gate then immediately slammed shut before the Handsome Hokage could slip inside. Even with his incredible speed, it couldn't be helped. So much for ending this early...

Turning back to the many units of shinobi that had witnessed this assault, a brief smile came across his face. In the eyes of his enemy, Kanari saw two things in succession: Recognition followed by fear. What followed next was unlike anything many of these unremarkable shinobi had ever seen. Before they could even fully grasp the concept of the fact that he had even moved, the Handsome Hokage would introduce their faces to the business end of his new weapon. Barely distinguishable from a gust of wind over the grass plain, his flurry would continue in an arc around the front of the gate before nearly thirty shinobi would be felled by his hand- unconscious, but otherwise fine. This was a necessary show of force in his eyes, though he had no intention of pursuing further conflict.

Turning back to the enemy's second line of defense, Kanari called out to whoever might be behind it. "This is Kanari Osoi, Hokage of Konohagakure; Send me a message to Saizo to meet here. We can stop it immediately, without breaking the blood!"

As he yelled out, he turned back to the almost inane group of fodder before him. Reeling from how easily Kanari had torn through their comrades, they continued to hesitate. "Until then, I will break them," he almost chuckled as the a few shinobi found their courage and charged the Handsome Hokage. It seems they were more loyal than intelligent.

With a quick twirl of his staff before him, Kanari charged the incoming units while he awaited Saizo's arrival. The siege of Kemurigakure had begun.

It had begun.

Tane and Rumi cursed under their breath as they dashed as swiftly as possible towards their villages gates. Already? It wasn't a possibility that the twins excluded, but still, they had hoped it wouldn't be the case. The village had yet to evacuate everyone, meaning that danger was closer than ever to striking the lives of the innocents. Until they were out, the village would have to do its best to keep the enemy from passing through the walls. Once everyone was gone, the interior would be barren enough to wage war in should it be needed, but until then ... They had to hold them off. They needed to buy time.

As the twins moved, one thing stood out as peculiar; the Hokage had requested that Saizo come forward. Did he truly not know about Saizo's assassination? Or, was he playing the fool to lower the chances of the world connecting the Darkeater to Konohagakure? It was a hard question to answer, one that the twins couldn't dwell on long enough to figure out. Their heads needed to be clear. Whatever happens, we'll tackle it together, Tane. Rumi's voice came through to instill a few last-minute, comforting words to her sister. As always. The gates came into view. As the Kemurikages drew nearer, they could hear the sounds of shouting more and more clearly.

Tane and Rumi climbed the wall, and Tane swerved her head around to the front beside Rumi's in order to best get a look at the situation unfolding beneath them. As expected, a mess of shinobi had already formed-- Konohagakure's forces were closing in from the distance, yet the battle had already started. Standing in the center was none other than the village's Hokage, batting away units of shinobi as if it were nothing more than child's play. The man barely broke a sweat, befitting one of his stature. Upon noticing the remaining units that prepared themselves to charge once more towards the Hokage, Rumi yelled out a command loudly for them all to hear.

"Shinobi, halt!" She cried, begetting hesitance in the battleground from each her shinobi. Assuming that Kanari and his forces respected the decree and stopped to shift their focus upward, none of the units would dare take another step. Tane and Rumi's eyes narrowed onto the form of her soon-to-be-opponent. "Our names are Watari Rumi and Watari Tane. We stand together as the Kemurikage. The one you're searching for is dead." Rumi watched for signs of genuine surprise from the Hokage, hoping to discern if he really knew or not. It took effort, but Tane managed to keep her emotions in check upon hearing that. Rumi considered her words, knowing that the longer she could keep Kanari engaged in conversation, the longer the rest of her village had to evacuate the civilians through the other exits.

"A war, without any sort of diplomacy prior to it ... Tell me, Osai Kanari, what has brought you down this violent road? Why do you wage war against my people?" Rumi shouted down towards the Handsome Hokage, waiting to move until given cause by the enemy forces.

Just as the shinobi began to charge, a voice commanding their halt was heard behind Kanari. With their stopping, the Handsome Hokage turned to the woman- women?- on the ramparts. Chakra surged through his armor as he prepared, just in case, for any of the combatants behind him to get any sort of funny ideas.

"Our names are Watari Rumi and Watari Tane. We stand together as the Kemurikage. The one you're searching for is dead."

Kanari's eyes flared as his brow furled in confusion. Though, admittedly, part of that was in the presence of two people claiming to be the Kemurikage. Dead? That cannot be... Who would have killed him... No, that's impossible... This is some coward's trick...

"A war, without any sort of diplomacy prior to it ... Tell me, Osai Kanari, what has brought you down this violent road? Why do you wage war against my people?"

"Very good, 'Kemurikage,'" Kanari started, not believing her words for an instant. If she was to be some sort of delay for Saizo to escape, then he could play along for now. The man would be nothing without his people. "Then I will deal with you."

"Your house is barbarous and greedy, a traditional cancer in this country too dangerous!" He yelled back to the apparent Kemurikage. In his eyes, she would find his confusion replaced with a calculated hatred. Additionally, however, she would find that the downed units she had sent to protect this gate would not be bleeding. In fact, some would be groaning and making small movements: They were all alive.

"Leading the subordinates to surrender and will not harm them. Unless you're making hands!"

In this moment, they may be making one of the most important decisions of their lives. Diplomancy would not be one of them.

It was his first time seeing Kemurigakure, and if Kanari had his way, it would be the last time anyone ever did. The prospect of something like that was frightening, and to think it came from the man he had sparred with. During their training the Hokage had seemed so jovial and kind, if not a little strange. Could this kind of act really be hidden behind the words that Kanari couldn't speak? He wanted to believe that this wasn't really happening, but now standing in front of the gates of an enemy village, he could no longer doubt it's validity. The Inuzuka and ninken approached quickly, sweat already forming on Faulkner's brow and on his palms despite him not being out of breath.

"We're here, Hokage-sama. I had my team look around for a bit while waiting for you. You know what I'm capable of better than I do, use me as you will." He said all of this as confidently as he could, though inside he was cursing himself for going along with this. He was scared of what would happen to him, to Ame, to his two teammates who he did not believe were ready for something like this. He was worried about that girl he had seen at the Exams who had put herself in harm's way to protect shinobi from another village. Were they really the enemy? Why?

The time to wonder was past him though, as guards rushed forward. The Inuzuka looked over to his ninken companion and the two nodded before charging forward and with a synchronous leap into the air, the two became veritable whirlwinds that tore through the two nameless men, sending them careening back into the wall of the village.

The muggy afternoon air fit the humid Land of Rice Fields, their primary source of income demanding marsh-like conditions across much of the area. The Fox approached what she assumed must be about a day late - she had been moving faster than usual to make up time, but expected to find the Konoha forces already engaged with those of Kemuri. Soft footfalls upon the somewhat wet grass went mostly unnoticed by the local fauna - she was a ghost, slipping across the fields with barely any disturbance and a mostly untraceable speed. The Kemurikage is already dead - does that mean the strongest in the village has already been conquered? That being the case, the Hokage should easily be able to dispatch any threats... she thought to herself, seeing the village's gates and walls ahead. Her pace slowed, and the Fox began a cautious approach, rustling the somewhat tall grass. She had chosen a new bodysuit, this one a simple black with the standard ANBU equipment over it, chest and back plate, shin and forearm guards, and of course the half mask she preferred. Easily recognizable as a Konoha ANBU, she sauntered to the side of the Hokage uncontested, any enemies in the way parting like a river around the rock that was the Fox.

"Mission complete, Hokage-sama," came her slightly distorted voice, recognizable as female due to its pitch but otherwise unable to be identified. "Taken alive. One casualty. A Sunagakure ANBU attempted to kill me - I delivered him back to his village. It seemed personal - I do not believe it was an attempt by the village to undermine. There was a Genin with the Jounin - I did not have the means to retrieve him as well. In all probability he is recovering in Amegakure no Sato's hospital. Major damage to Amegakure's military district and wall - this was the fault of the Suna-nin," she stated emotionlessly, blue eyes staring across at what appeared to be the newest Kemurikage. "Orders?"

She had interrupted whatever parlay was going on, but she intuited that things were about to break down. The Hokage was unlikely to believe that Saizo was dead and there was a new Kemurikage, so at the very least on his end, things were going to heat up again after this brief lull she'd stumbled upon. She didn't really expect anything like 'kill them all' or the like, but it was likely that things were soon going to come to violence.

(OOC: Guards were ordered to halt by Rumi while speaking to Kanari, and were listed as remaining stationary unless someone was aggressive towards them. No guards would have moved towards Faulkner, meaning no guards would have been defeated.)

"Barbarous and greedy? Hah! That's rich." Rumi's haughty laugh bellowed out from atop the walls. "Do not act like your village is any different than ours, Kanari. We are not some villain, and your people are no saints. If you're going to lead your people to war, at least be honest with your reasons." Rumi preached, hoping to buy as much time as she could. The resilience in the Hokage's voice made it crystal clear that diplomacy would never amount to anything. At most, Tane and Rumi could buy time for the rest of their high-ranking protectors to make it to the wall. Tane's eyes flickered around the battlefield while Rumi handled the speech, taking note of the conditions of her men and the confusion in Kanari's expression. While the ten units left atop the walls had been untouched, most of the ten units standing below at the gates had already been spawled out onto the grass. Yet, they breathed. They're still alive ... He must not be going for kill-shots. Tane pointed out, a realization that alleviated some concern in their hearts.

"Konohagakure warred against Kumogakure for nearly ten years in order to maintain its place as their ruler. All that came from the occupation was status and riches to yours, without concern for Kumogakure's people. And yet, you call us the greedy ones? At least my predecessors cared for those that they took over." Rumi's words were unwavering, backed with all of her confidence. With Saizo gone, they had no choice but to double their efforts in order to make Kemurigakure look far from crippled. "You're showing our shinobi mercy. What is your goal in this war? Is it to take out those in charge that you deem so barbaric?" Tane's voice echoed out over the crowd for the first time.

"If that is your aim, then why don't we settle this between us and leave the rest of our people out of it: The Hokage versus the Kemurikage?" The challenge was issued. The twins knew it was a far cry, a challenge that held little tactical advantage to Konohagakure's forces. In truth, it only held advantage for Tane and Rumi, as it would delay the rest of the war and offer more time for her people to prepare and escape. However, if there was a chance that Kanari's pride and confidence would lead him to accept, then the twins had to take it.

Kaoru dashed through the village; pulling his bunny hood over his head as he equipped his anbu mask. Whiskers decorated the mask; the aim to add some fun pizzazz to it, while simultaneously getting others to let their guard down against him. Civilians were already getting evacuated from the village when he received the news of war. With a full stomach he was ready for combat; his body decorated with his extensive collection of weapons. The new Kemurikages had ordered him to accompany them to the wall to greet their visitors, and that is what he would do. Kaoru would dash up the wall and once he reached the top, would kneel a few feet to Tane and Rumi's right. They were outmanned by the squad Konohagakure had brought, but perhaps hope was not lost. Having the homefield advantage would help the Kemuri ninja considerably. Kaoru would nod to his Kages and remain speechless. They would know that he was there and ready to do her bidding.

Kaoru's piercing blue eyes scanned the battlefield; noticing that there seemed to be children among it. It was a shame, but if they were soldiers of war, then they would have to be taken out as well. He would leave the Kage's to deal with the diplomacy, but be ready to fight when necessary.

As the sand platform flew over an vicinity he remembered from a couple months ago, the Red Stone Canyons had came into view, his Sharingan eyed the area, scanning it further ahead, seeing nothing of course. As the distance to the gates came within eye sight of Seto, he would look down, seeing a group of people in the far distance. He slowed his speed down slightly, turning back toward Saya, by just turning his head, his right eye becoming visible to her as his hair flew out of his face. The Sharingan was staring at her, he nodded. She knew what to do. Saya was gifted. Kanari has understood why he was given her as his student.

"It's that time."

He would then turn his head to look back ahead. As the distance closed the first thing he would see is something standing on the wall of the village. He focused on that person for a couple seconds before looking down. He would see a bunch of bodies of people laying down on the ground in front of the gates and the area. He would then keep moving his eyes back to catch a glimpse of Kanari, he would see a former student of his in Faulkner Inuzuka a couple meters ahead. He would notice the suit of someone next to Kanari with Konoha ANBU gear. Seto had smiled as he crossed his arms over his chest. Granted, Seto arrived hearing none of the previous conversations. He would also notice that the troops of Kemurigakure weren't advancing and neither was Konohagakure. He started to lower the platform to the ground two meters behind the group of Kanari and Rei. As the sand platform touched the ground, it slowly started to fade away from the bottom part of the platform slowly dispersing particles of sand to the air around Seto as the sand lowered them to the ground with grace. Seems not everyone is here yet. I do not see Saizo anywhere in sight.

Seto would stand still as he would look ahead of the group of Kanari and Rei, his black cloak covering the entirely of his body. Seto would scan the area again to see if he may have missed Saizo. But, he knew he was right in not seeing him as he looked back down at the back of Kanari and the Fox in ANBU gear. He would slowly start to walk forward through the still spread sea of Kemurigakure forces. He would still be looking forward noticing a new person appearing on the wall next to the person who is coming into view as noticing the people as Tane and Rumi. The person who appeared next to them was wearing a bunny hood over their head. He would look at this person and stop his walking by standing to the opposite side of Kanari, as Seto didn't even look in their direction.

"Hokage-Sama, Fox-sama, it would appear that Saizo is not present. However, Lord Kanari I have completed the mission. I'm sure you are aware though, nonetheless. Orders?"

He would stand firm as his eyes narrowed as the Sharingan focused on Tani and Rumi, and whoever this shinobi is with the damn bunny hood. He just felt like that person didn't take being a shinobi seriously. He would stand unfazed by the appearance of the hat. He was not in a joking matter. The voice who has been rather silent as of late boomed in Seto's ears. That wretched Hokage Kanari and her...shee....Shukaku would bring his clawed hands up to his mouth and advert his gaze, as if he felted some sort of fear of the Fox person. Shukaku would then move his hands away slowly bringing them down to his sides. The trolling face painted on his features as he started laughing rather with an annoying tone. Ore-Sama fears no one!!!" Seto would sigh under his breathe and then start speaking within his mind only to the beast. Now, is not the time for your things Shukaku. The wind blew freely to the left as his hair would blow across his face and then fall to the side of his cheeks again. His sand still dancing around him from earlier but just in small specs of singular grains, as he would bring his right hand up to the middle of his chest with his right hand as the index and middle finger are pointed straight up while ring and pinky finger are curled down touching his palm, the fingers don't change positions except for the ring and pinky finger uncurl away from the hand. He then inverts all his fingers into a curled state turning his wrist thirty degrees south to complete the seal.

The sand slowly started to fizzle as he pulled that same right hand back up to a flat palm as the seals were completed. The hand speed of these movements were in a blur for most of the people looking at him. The sand would drop into the dirt they are standing on, slowly breaking up particles of the sand, infusing and mixing the chakra controlled sand into it, it was barely noticeable it was happening. Seto would rest his hand right hand back over his elbow.

As the three flew over the canyons of the Land of Smoke, Saya remembered the tale that her Kikaichu had told her. She remembered the battle that had taken place and the end result, that her sensei had stolen someone's face. She still had no answer as to why Seto had done what he did, but after meeting with the man more, she realized that he probably had no real reason to do so. He was an impulsive individual who acted on his own feelings and ideas. He was the opposite of her, but if nothing else, he was a powerful shinobi. She held her back to him on the platform, watching the rear should anything come when she felt the heat of his blood-red gaze on her back. Saying what she had expected him to, it seemed they had finally arrived on the battlefield.

The descent was slower than she would have liked, but it allowed her to ready Nagi. The boy was still tied and Kikaichu had worked to keep his chakra reserves empty along the journey. As they departed from the sand platform, she held the knot of his hands in her own. "You are aware of the others, Lord Kanari." She said in her usual monotone fashion, the image of Sanosuke's form disappearing before her flashed. Behind them, the sound of tens of thousands of small wings buzzed through the air as Saya's Kikaichu filled the sky. They were a plague of locusts bearing down on the field of wheat.

A den of wolves and reapers. I wonder if Kanari will be happy with this year's harvest.

As the Fox appeared, Kanari tilted his ears towards her while maintaining his glare at the "Kemurikage." Her voice was strange, though he knew it could be no one else. "Well done, Fox." Kanari was brief, but the situation demanded it. The notion of a Suna ANBU attempting to murder one of Konoha's own was more than a little disturbing, however. If Kyōsuke couldn't even control his own ANBU, what could he do? An ironic thought, of course, given the nature of the Darkeater, though not hypocritical.

He gently raised his free hand and waved a wave that would seem to suggest "hold steady."

"Barbarous and greedy? Hah! That's rich. Do not act like your village is any different than ours, Kanari. We are not some villain, and your people are no saints. If you're going to lead your people to war, at least be honest with your reasons."

Kanari watched with unmoved eyes as the woman before him spewed whataboutisms and references to the past- as if it even held weight. Had Konoha subjugated Kumo? Yes. Was Kanari intimately involved in the events of the ensuing rebellion? Yes. Even so, a sharp gust escaped his nostrils at the mere notion that that was relevant. In his eyes, stained by zeal and the power of the status quo, Kumogakure was at its best during those many decades of servitude and, most importantly, there was peace. It was their rebellion that cost so many lives. It was their people that incited an all out war. And it was that war which Kemuri used to annex Konoha land! Land Kemuri then used to bridge their homeland with a sovereign minor country they conquered! They were no different? Sure, but only if the world had forgotten context.

Preposterous...

"Konohagakure warred against Kumogakure for nearly ten years in order to maintain its place as their ruler. All that came from the occupation was status and riches to yours, without concern for Kumogakure's people. And yet, you call us the greedy ones? At least my predecessors cared for those that they took over."

A 10 year war to reestablish peace... A peace that had lasted for decades prior... A disintegrated peace that led your people to do what you now seem to hold so detestable...

Had she really just condemned Konoha's occupation of Kumo while they occupied Ame no Kuni? Could she really not see the wealth they had plundered and siphoned from the place her own Kage's father ruled so harshly?! Kanari was now stuck in his own head, constantly repeating his logic for this war as she continued to demonize herself in his eyes. Each word was another brick in the foundation that affirmed his belief more strongly than ever. These people are not fit to rule.

She spoke of the past, where shinobi that no longer live made decisions that Kanari could take no responsibility for. But who were those shinobi? Members of an alliance that had existed for the better part of a century between Konoha and Oto itself. These people... Kanari sneered in his head; to him, now more than ever, they seemed like children carrying explosive tags. Stupid, naive, dangerous. Had she, who preached for an independent Kumogakure, forgotten that it was a former Otokage who deemed their village too dangerous to be allowed to persist? Had she, who condemned those that accepted prosperity at the expense of others, forgotten that Oto had been siphoning money from Kumo alongside Konoha?! Was she, whose village marched through and taken friendly territory, really surprised at the animosity?!? Had she, who seemed so invested in the past, forgotten that it was Saizo's own father who occupied sovereign land in an attempt to rekindle the superpower that Oto used to be?!?!

What crazed nonsense is all this... Kanari might not have been wise, but he knew war. He studied war, he studied wars past, he studied what caused them, who won them, why. Now this facade dare lecture him on such misguided views of what had brought them here?! Kanari gripped tightly at his staff and gritted tightly at his teeth, his slightly protruding jawline being their tell. It was then, however, that a voice of reason spoke up.

"You're showing our shinobi mercy. What is your goal in this war? Is it to take out those in charge that you deem so barbaric? If that is your aim, then why don't we settle this between us and leave the rest of our people out of it: The Hokage versus the Kemurikage?"

Turning to meet the other woman, Kanari relaxed a touch. Widening his eyes in disbelief at this offer, Kanari actually cracked a smile. An interesting pair... He noted; admittedly somewhat respectful of this woman's tact and poise. He hated to admit it, but he could almost see them being adequate enough to warrant the post.

"You are definitely a brave women, "Kemurikage," I will give it to you. Hokage versus Kemurikage, one battle to report the war and reinforce lives... I will accept it gladly." This was exactly what Kanari had wanted, the chance to end the war swiftly and without bloodshed. In a single bout, the world would be spared a country so steeped in greed, violence and blindness.

It was then that Seto and Saya arrived with words of their success and failure. Having had a clone in that room, Kanari knew their status, but the aerial confirmation that Saizo was not in the vicinity solidified his decision. Extending the same gesture he had given Rei, the Handsome Hokage turned on his heel to face all of his subordinates.

These were good people, these were his people. Importantly, these were strong people, people that had more than proved their capability to end what Kanari saw as a certain path towards global war. If he could help it, he wouldn't have placed any of them in this position; but Kemurigakure had showed its hand, that its ambitions superseded even the goodwill of former allies and friendly nations. Closing his eyes, the Handsome Hokage softly nodded his head before turning back to face the Pairkage; they had still not reconciled the most tragic misguidance: that Saizo was alive and well. Until he came to justice for his part in disrupting years of peace, this village was still his. Until he came forward, renounced the atrocities of his father and returned the land he had seized, the man did nothing but further Kanari's trust that a Kemuri under Saizo would be more of the same.

"What shame because Kemurikage is not here!" In a sudden flicker, the Handsome Hokage would be reduced to a blur as another swathe of the enemy score dropped to the grass and he returned to the front of the gate facing the Konoha shinobi.

"Genin, send the security guards! Everyone, stop this gate! Remembering: Do not kill the enemy!"

With that, Kanari turned and lunged forward to the gate and forced the head of his staff into its wooden face.

With a flourish, Shingen landed atop of Kemurigakure's massive walls, standing to the left side of the gates. He had landed in a a simple crouch, rising into a standing position as he surveyed the would-be-battlefield from his high vantage point. He could see the twin Kemurikages, along with Kaoru, the man with the bunny hoodie that Shingen's clone had met at the ramen stand. Together, it seemed like the four of them were to be the dam that would hold back the flood.

Casting his eyes to the enemy force, he noticed several familiar faces, and one hauntingly familiar mask. The Hokage stood out, along with two other individuals that he had seen at the exams. Most prominent was that damn mask, something Shingen had become intimately close with only days before. His hand immediately shifted to Kusanagi's handle, grasping it tight as he felt a wave of rage run through him. For now, he managed to swallow his fury, stifling his rage for the time being. There were so many questions that he wanted answers to, but they would have to wait.

With his Akatsuki cloak fluttering in the wind, the blonde kept his right hand on his sword's handle, ready to draw the blade at a moment's notice. His left hand rested casually at his side, keeping the ANBU in a neutral position as he stood atop the village's outer wall. "The Legendary Loser has arrived!" He loudly announced, the proclamation accompanied by a hearty laugh. His normal instincts would have told him to be more somber now, but in the face of an entity like the Fox, he could do nothing but smile and laugh. If he were to die this day, it would be with a smile on his face.

"I'm afraid I can't let you guys take down this wall, nor the gates," Shingen explained, sliding his katana out of its scabbard, twirling it once in his hand so as to affirm his grip, before pointing it outwards at the Konohagakure forces. "I've taken quite a liking to them, yeah?" He paused here, tapping the top of the wall with the bottom of his left foot, as if for emphasis. "Anyone who wants to get through this wall will have to go through me!"

Listening to all that had been said, Saya waited patiently after receiving Kanari's orders. A few thoughts threatened to burst through the girl's mind. One, what if the Kemurikage's weren't hiding Saizo? What would history say about the Hokage who had turned down his own wish? What would history say about anyone here this day? Surely they were the ones to be painted in dark tones. A force that had arrived with little warning to undo a wrong they themselves were guilty of committing. Saya knew much of the history of her village and what Kemuri had done to Amegakure was no new concept to the Land of Fire. It was not her place to point this out however. No, it was her place to press this village, to "send the security guards". As much as she could, she would represent the Aburame Clan. This was a moment in history after all, and she would make sure that her name went down in those books to come.

A name already known however, presented itself loud and obnoxiously. Turning her head up to the wall she noticed a new figure had joined with the previous three. The blonde hair, the blue eyes, and the attitude that reminded her of cheap comic books, there was no mistaking the figure. The sight of Shingen Mangetsu did not sit well with her, knots slowly tightening in her gut. She was not trusting of Sunagakure to begin with and seeing Kyosuke's capabilities had only deepened that distrust. Now however, seeing a Jounin of that village and not only that, a student of that same Kyosuke, here defending the gates; just what did that mean for this allegiance? Paranoia set in, mixing with the anxiety she was feeling for the fight to come. Where were the Sunagakure shinobi? Why was the only one present on the enemies side of the wall?

Shaking her head softly, she focused on what the man was saying rather than his presence. His boasts were ones she could respect, but only the stupidity of their nature. He had called out a threat to all of the Konoha shinobi present, strongest of which included her sensei, the Hokage, and the Fox. She felt dwarfed suddenly as the realization that she was in over her head set in. As with the fight against Sanosuke though, she resolved herself not to think as a Genin. Thinking only as her current rank would only ensure she never rose above it. She let out a long, steadying breath and then raised a single bandaged hand in front of her. They say that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. I guess I'll just have do this with as little good as I can. The Aburame sighed, and snapped her fingers.

The Kikaichu that had blocked the sky behind her rushed forward, the world roiled around their shifting swarms. The insects bore down on the enemy voraciously and in a less than subtle fashion muffled the screams of the eight closest men to her. As this was happening, the worm-like Shokaichu fell from her bandages and began to burrow their way under the soil. A male sat on her scarf, reading the pheromones of those who had pressed forward. A sudden network of information opened up to the Aburame, a collection of Chakra signatures and their whereabouts. The eight men her Kikaichu had swarmed, their signatures dropped to the same level as Nagi's. They were alive and unharmed, but they were also empty husks of the shinobi they used to be. No matter the strength, with no chakra left they were hardly a threat.

She placed her hands deep into her pockets; a casual display but in truth this was done to hide the fact that her fingertips were shaking. She looked up to the gates once more, past her leader who was attempting to beat his way into Kemurigakure. She steeled her resolve the best she could, but a simple truth wormed it's way to the forefront of her thoughts. This wasn't the Exams, this wasn't just a test.

This was war.

"You are aware of the others, Lord Kanari."

Seto would see Kanari wave his hand out the corner of his eye but Seto's eyes never left the people standing on top of that wretched village walls. His eyes, possessing the Kekkei Genkai the Sharingan staring at the three on the wall his murderous fire burning in his eyes. The body of Kanari turning to face everyone behind behind them all. He wouldn't move as he just focused on the people on that wall. Seto was watching for movements from the wall. He heard the Hokage say nothing for a couple seconds before he heard the words.

"What shame because Kemurikage is not here!"

Seto didn't move a muscle at the words as Kanari seemed to disappear and do some actions that Seto wasn't willing to watch as he was just looking up at the people on the wall. They were not far enough away for him to see. They were no more than ten meters away. He didn't even smile, he just watched. The words of Kanari came swift and fast.

"Genin, send the security guards! Everyone, stop this gate! Remembering: Do not kill the enemy!"

Seto would merely still stare at the bunch on the wall, as he didn't move a muscle. Then he saw a figure appearing to the left side of the gates as Seto's eyes darted to the left to look at him, as his view still had the other three in his right eye's sight. He would observe him reach for a sword. He took note of the cloak he was wearing, black with massive amounts of red clouds printed on the cloak that was fluttering. It was interesting that Seto noticed it was an Sunagakure shinobi which caused Seto's eyes to narrow at the sight of his headband.

"The Legendary Loser has arrived!"

He would hear those words followed by an laugh from the man, Seto's eyes remained narrowed and his facial expression hasn't changed. He expressed no hate, joy. Just expressionless. He appeared to have an zen about him, he seemed relaxed despite the fact it was war. But, this was nothing new to Seto. He has never recovered from what the previous war done to his psyche. He wasn't particularity considered crazy or insane, but he became much more ruthless shortly after that war with Kumogakure. He knew they lost. He never recovered from the defeat, then in comes Kemurigakure, to ravage and destroy while taking something from Konohagakure in a time of rebuilding, those savage shinobi killed his mother and father. He never got to see if it was true. No bodies recovered. Despite all of this, he was calm. Even watching the shinobi sliding his katana out of his scabbard while twirling the sword in his hand and gripping it pointing it out toward the shinobi of Konohagakure. He remained unprovoked on the surface. But, deep down. It was like a pressure cooker just heating up.

"I'm afraid I can't let you guys take down this wall, nor the gates, I've taken quite a liking to them, yeah?"

Seto said nothing as he watched with unchanged facial features. Stone and cold, he would see the man tapping the top of the wall with his left foot. Seto stared to unfold his arms at this point slowly as they fell to the sides of his body. His right hand quickly went to grab the left button hook on his cloak and unsnapping it with his left index and thumb while gripping the black fabric and pulling the cloak off his body and throwing it into the wind as it blew back onto the ground behind him. The Uchiha was wearing his green Jonin standard vest that didn't come above his neck or shoulders in the collar area. He wore a cutoff black undershirt with a black pair of pants, ending in black open toed sandals. On his waist their was three different pouches, one in the back, and one on each hip. The headband of Konoha dangling from his neck. The toned frame of Seto indicated he took his cardio and strength training very seriously. He knew what Saya was doing, as he spoke briefly to her, a tone of seriousness traveling in his voice. He also didn't move to look at her as he spoke, not out of disrespect. Just that he was watching the enemies so to speak.

"Have we got a location yet of all of our targets Saya?"

He would await her for her answer so that Rei and the rest of the people present could hear her words. Seto would then notice the rest of their troops still stood parted. A couple of the troops thought that cause Seto paid them no attention they could rush him thinking of catching him off guard, the eyes of Seto picked up the movement of one as he threw a kick as a patch of sand appeared where he was throwing the a right cross kick, making a designing of a wall of sand, the sand itself wrapping itself around the ankle of the unknown personally to Seto and yanking him off the balance of left foot lifting him into the air. Seto remained unmoved as the sand itself started to form an arm of sand from the hanging sand particles. As the form completed the sand acting as if it is moving of it's own accord, but it was Seto's control. It would swing the poor shinobi in the air overtop Seto's head as the arm swung forward toward the gate throwing the shinobi into the wooden gates face, the thud of the body radiating off the wood as he fell to the ground knocked out from the throw. Another shinobi approached Seto from the right of him taking a swing with a right jab that Seto just steps back off his right foot to allow the punch to pass in front of his face, leaving the upper chest of the attacker open, Seto would take advantage sending a solid right uppercut to the sternum of the man causing the man to grunt in response to the solid blow doubling down onto his knees, still conscious, Seto would raise his right foot stepping it down on the neck of the shinobi forcing his face into the dirt as he rested it there.

"Give up, you stand no chance."

He would notice a third person come from the left as he charged toward Seto who merely glanced at him as the distance closed between them, the shinobi yelling with an intent look of confidence painted on his face as the eyes of Seto and the person met, the piercing eyes of Seto latched onto to the helpless runt who knew nothing about the Uchiha or perhaps was just making a mistake. Old human traits to look at the person across from them, it's natural. The eyes of Seto flashed before the other man's eyes as he caught a real good glance of Seto's Sharingan, causing his frail frame to go limp falling into the dirt. Finally Seto let go of that one's neck by lifting his foot up off the second shinobi's neck who simply passed out from pain Seto had caused him with the punch to the sternum. The man appeared to have soiled his pants as well. The smell assaulting Seto's nose as he remained unfazed as it was noticed but not reacted to. The fourth and fifth man near the other three realized that approaching Seto one on one isn't working so let's both go for him. As they both charge toward Seto watched them as he didn't move. The fourth man who was to Seto's left threw a Shuriken toward Seto as a piece of Sand deflected the Shuriken, the sand itself starting to cover the edge of the ninja tool and throwing it back at the fifth one hitting him in the shoulder, a non-lethal location, but preventing the man from advancing. The sand was still attached to the shuriken stuck in the man's shoulder, pulling the throwing star out of his shoulder with blood on the sharp edge and flesh being pulled back out as the man fell over onto the ground. Seto's sand threw it back at the original guy hitting him in his left leg and dropping him to one knee as he writhe in pain. Seto would look back to the four standing on the wall with an unimpressed look.

There was still no sign of the rest of his team. He realized he had left them with heavy words but he had not expected it to be so heavy as to sink their feet into the ground. Perhaps it was for the best? He wasn't sure he was ready for this kind of thing, but he was almost certain that Shizu and Mako were not. If they could manage to hang behind out of the fight but not run entirely, perhaps the Hokage wouldn't notice their absence? That was likely the best case scenario.

It didn't take long for things to devolve past words and into action, and that was perfectly fine for the Inuzuka. He didn't like what was happening and he didn't agree with it, but he had orders. Plus, this would be the first time he got to hit someone that wasn't from his village, meaning he could really go all out! His eyes locked on to the gate of Kemurigakure and he wiped his lips with the back of his hand. By the end of this, I'll smash those to splinters. His goal had been made, and he would not stop until that goal was achieved.

Two groups of four sprang to motion once the idea of talks had been thrown out the window. Faulkner turned to Ame, still in his doppelganger form and the two flashed fang-filled smiles at each other. The two let out a feral howl in unison as they took off, clawing at the ground to pick up their speed. The pair both jumped into the air, spinning their bodies until they became a blur of centrifugal force. Each of them split, crashing through a group of four and sending the defenders flying. The eight men fell in unison as Faulkner and Ame slid to a halt near each other. Both of the Inuzuka grinned mischievously. This wasn't the Exams, but it would do. As long as he got to fight someone, as long as he got to break something, it didn't matter what the circumstances for it were.

Slightly lagging behind the other groups, Team Etsu arrived, the only of the teams that hadn’t ended in an utterly loss or were robbed for a chance to compete at the chuunin exams in the first place. With the split leadership between the team and a redheaded newcomer having joined their squad they arrived with five. Witnessing the preaches of all three kages before the leaf shinobi continued with their ruthless assault. That once handsome Hokage that Ayano looked up to so much just...did not look as handsome anymore. She was disgusted and speechless. Why was Konoha known as a warmonger village? Why did they suddenly decide to attack Kemuri? Why during an event that was supposed to symbolize the unity of all villages and the friendly rivalry between them?

It was just too much for the girl to think about now, she wanted answers, but she was scared. Scared to be judged, scared to be targetted, scared to be exiled, but most of all, scared of him. Yet she couldn’t help but admire him as well. Was it because he untrusted her with a top secret A ranked mission? Was it because of his words and way of speech back when she rebuild the konoha training field? She did not know. But one thing she knew for sure - he did not come here to kill and ordered to preserve the lives of their enemies. That was enough for the Senju to make up her mind. She would carry on his will. There was no turning back now. Not for any of them. They would see this to the end, together.

Inbetween the Chaos Ayano’s eyes spotted a blur. Her sensory levels rising once more to instantly identify the chakra signatures. “Faulkner?” The doggo boy that she would never forget. The pair had caused quite some devastation among themselves and peers when sparring against eachother. It seemed like he hadn’t changed a bit. Did he enjoy violence? Was he a machine made just for war and nothing else? Why was he like this? He seemed so caring yet on the battlefield so ruthless so...evil. Four chakra signatures suddenly perked up, a glance to her flank revealing four shinobi vaulting into the air from their hiding like a mole jutsu. An ambush for the mostly split off group. “Got ya!” They declared in unison. Ayano’s expression filled with the expression of surprise and panic. Her hand sweeped to the right as she shouted “Stay away!” A large vine materialized into existence, sweeping all four kemuri nin into the ground. Dust and debris following their trail. Hands glasped for two seals before four wooden but quite durable cages sprouted all around the opponents, entrapping them in the process whilst rendering their chakra reserves null. Determined crimson eyes brimmed with tears.

Team Etsu was here.

(OOC: Please don't control my units into being in places they aren't and force them to disobey Tane and Rumi's orders. There's a reason Kanari only took out 3 units and then dealt Gate damage. The remaining 10 units are perched up on the gate walls, with orders currently to not engage. From what I saw, Seto, Faulkner, and Ayano bunnied troops onto the ground and into their range, which isn't the case. I'll proceed as though those eight troops are still in their previously described locations.)

Upon hearing the Hokage accept the challenge, Tane and Rumi turned their attention away from the collected group below at the gates, turning to face her own shinobi. To her side knelt Kaoru, ready to act on the orders of his superiors. "If his shinobi stay out of it, I want you to stay on standby. You're to engage them when they move." Rumi spoke quietly to him, as Tane turned her attention to two more shinobi that stood near their location. "All units remain in position, attack from the walls." As soon as the orders were given, those two shinobi moved to convey the assignment down the line of units in both directions.

It was then that Tane and Rumi's worries doubled in size. With a sudden declaration announcing his disbelief of the twins' claims regarding the Kemurikage, Tane and Rumi's attention shot back to the front just in time to focus in on Kanari reigniting the flames of war with a swift strike to the remaining three units on the ground level before dealing a blow to the gate's surface. That move signaled the end of discussions. Now, it was time to act. "So be it." Rumi muttered, bringing her hands together for the quick formation of five hand seals. A radiant-blue aura engulfed her hands, stretching out past the fingertips up to a meter. Armed with the Chakra Scalpel, her gaze caught Shingen and Kaoru for just a moment as she issued their command: "Let's go!"

Applying chakra to the soles of her feet, Rumi descended full-speed down the wall, her figure blurring into a speed few could entirely watch. Her feet touched down onto the wet grass beneath her feet, and nearly instantaneously after that sensation hit, she would be upon her target. With observant eyes watching for anything that could come to intercept her advance and a lightness to her steps, the Kemurikage remained prepared for a sudden, reactive dodge. Hopefully, though, the burst of speed could be surprising enough to her enemies for her to reach her target unimpeded. There was one benefit to them not believing that she held the title of Kemurikage; if they didn't think that she held the title, then perhaps that meant they would underestimate her ability.

Staying low to the ground, Rumi moved to enter into close-range with the Hokage. While her right arm stayed close to her body, her left arm shot out towards the closest leg to her-- Kanari's right. With a sweep of her arm, the woman struck across her foe, keeping her hand back just enough for the far-end of the chakra scalpel to cut into the man's tendons above his kneecap in hopes of disabling the leg early on in the battle. The man's speed was clearly one of his strengths: taking that out would be a crucial step.

As predicted, the Hokage was not at all buying the fact that Saizo was dead - he ordered a renewed attack on the Kemurigakure forces, seeming incensed. A slight pang of guilt hit her then. She knew the truth, but had no believable lie as to where that intelligence could have come from - the logical conclusion would then be that she were the Darkeater, which was not something she wanted people to be led to. Ahead of this, however, she nearly sighed aloud at the appearance of Shingen. What's he doing on that side? she thought to herself. I threatened his life, and still...? She knew she shouldn't be surprised. Of course a threat of death, even from someone so obviously out of his class as she, wouldn't really faze that....idiot. She almost smiled. That, however, was something that Rei would have done - being inspired by his will to continue on no matter the odds, to look danger in the face and grin. The Fox, however, found him suicidal, impulsive, and entirely too stubborn for his own good.

The ANBU shadowed Kanari as he moved forward, attacking the remaining ground forces. The various ninja were easily taken by the Hokage, and when none were left to challenge him, he set a solid strike against the gates. They hardly budged. Just then, the more aggressive of the pair of twin Kage had descended, and in that interval, the Fox also moved, instantly springing into the air at her maximum speed. The teen alighted atop the wall in the place that Rumi, her sister resting inside her, had just left, giving the softest of landings. Though her senses were attuned to Kaoru's position and actions, she addressed Shingen as though ignoring him. "Cub," came her distorted voice, as though happy to see a pet that had wandered into the room by accident. "I promised your Kage I'd kill you if you attacked me again," she said, a dangerous edge in her voice clearly heard under the slightly robotic, ominous tone. "Stay out of my way." Once again - though for some of them, the first time - from the short, somewhat petite girl, the intent to kill flared, as certain as the setting sun.

Her final words were more of a general statement than anything else, and after that, the Fox slid by both Shingen and Kaoru, targeting the regular forces on the walls. It was a simple matter, uninterrupted, to give most of the ninja upon the wall an outmaneuvering and leave them in various unconscious or disabled states, groaning and writhing on the battlement. She wove through them as though unconcerned for anything at all, her sharp movements as she approached each one as efficient and precise as possible. In the end, none of them would remain, and true to form, the Fox gave a slight stretch with one arm over her head, yawning. Nearly three dozen gone in the blink of an eye.

It seemed that diplomacy was not on the table. The Hokage had ceased his talking and began his assault on the gate; forcing the Kemurikage to engage as well, but not before letting the Anbu know to fight back. A blur passed by Kaoru as the fox wove across the top of the wall and took out the rest of the low-end guards. The Kemuri anbu would speak to Shingen quickly before he burst into action. "Shingen, you've fought the Fox before so I'll leave her to you. I'm going to take out the ones on the ground." With that, Kaoru would grab one of the metal kanabos from his back and launch himself off the wall and towards the leaf male with the green vest that arrived on a platform of sand.

Kaoru would hold the kanabo with both hands and make the motion to begin a mid-air overhead strike. As the kanabo passed it's apex, the steel wielder's chakra surged through the weapon and the spiked bat began to rapidly multiply in size. The kanabo reached 50 feet in length with a diameter of 4 feet, and was being slammed into the ground with all of Kaoru's strength. His aim was to utterly squash the sand user, but collateral damage was sure to occur from the force of the strike. When the kanabo made impact, the earth would shudder in fear. Everything in the surrounding area would be forced backwards by the shockwave of the blow. The ground that had once laid flat and lush with foliage was replaced by a massive crater. The bunny-hooded shinobi would let go of the kanabo once it had hit the earth and he would fall several feet to the ground below. Once he had stuck his landing he would draw his second kanabo from his back and prepare himself to continue the fight if his target had survived.

Coming in alongside Ayano and the rest of his teammates (and Maia), Kazu was quick to allow his eyes to flicker from their natural, olive color to the infamous crimson shine of his heritage. Three tomoe swirled into existence around the center, and his eyes zig-zagged back and forth through the area to take in all that was developing. Truthfully, it brought sorrow to the young boy when he saw his idol strike forward against the gate. If there was any hope left in him that the war could have been avoided, the opening attack sealed that thought away. Now that the offensive had begun, there was no going back. This war was happening.

Instinctively, his left hand swiped across the underside of his right wrist, rolling the sleeve up just enough to access the intricately-inked piece of paper cupped around his skin. In a small poof of smoke, a singular kunai fell into his hand. Though his hand covered most of it, a small section of an extremely complicated Fuinjutsu peeked out from the top of the handle, distinguishing it from the usual ones. At the moment, it was hard to pin-point what exactly it was that he should do. Away from him, it was clear that there was a battle of godly extremes going on. The Hokage and the Kemurikage moved to engage each other at unbelievable speeds, the Fox leaped up onto the village walls at equally impressive speeds to strike the remaining generics up top, and one of Kemurigakure's ANBU smashed down into the ground with such massive force that a giant crater would remain in his wake. Thankfully, Kazu and his group were beyond the range of that one, left to only try and fathom the power of it based off of the great force of the shockwave that expanded from the point of impact. Kazu kept his footing, digging his heels into the dirt and concentrating chakra down into them as he refused to budge.

Realizing that it was probably a bad idea to get involved in those fights, Kazu held his position, turning his attention to any attackers that the enemy units may have gotten off before being dealt with by the Fox. A couple of ninja tools and small balls of fire were nothing to worry about. With a few side-steps, jumps, and swipes of his kunai to bat away the tangible items coming his way, Kazu kept himself safe for the time being. "What are we supposed to do here? Shoot at the gate, or ..? Any ideas?" Kazu called out to the rest of his team (and Maia), looking for suggestions as to how to proceed. Once he had finished taking the time to survey the situation and gather input, then he would make his move.

The tip pressed against the hard surface, but it would not go in. In truth, Kanari was hoping that the Kemuri gates would just cave in that moment; even after their general decline, they were still a village after all. Of course, this was what Saizo's father conquered to maintain. It was then that who would arrive? Shingen in the flesh... He stands distinctly apart from his village and fought against Rei not long ago, yet still he showed up on the front lines? He sure was a bold one.

"Let's go!" Prompted the Handsome Hokage to glance up the tall walls to what would soon become his foe. As she began her approach, Kanari found her speed entirely unexpected. He watched her as three clones poofed into existence, two at his side and one at his back. It was true that the "Kemurikage" seemed to be quite fast, but this sprint was from too far and far too slow to somehow get the drop on him. She would not find his knee where it was when she began her assault.

The Handsome Hokage wasn't about to be outdone. While it would take some serious effort to become faster, he could always make it almost seem like he was. In a sudden shift, the details of Kanari's armor would begin to slide, making it appear as though he was turning to the side. He wasn't.

In four simultaneous motions as Tane and Rumi hit the ground, three of them sprang into action. Kicking off, Kanari flipped backwards over the back clone and stuck fast for an instant before jumping headlong towards her. With Ruyi Jingu Bang held high overhead and largely at one end, he would bring the rest down with all his might into a brutal slam across her back. His twisting armor would not cease, however, and the appearance of his arms displayed across the armor almost made it look as though he would be swinging the weapon from side to side. These images, of course, lacked depth or extension beyond the armor and would soon be spotted as forgeries; but, in battles like these, even an instant is sometimes all it takes.

Meanwhile, the back clone ducked low as well, first stepping slightly to the left, before its left palm would then stretch out as it too lunged towards the Pairkage. With its approach, a brilliant blue ball of spiraling chakra would appear as he extended it towards its foe's midsection. Meanwhile again, the rightmost clone instead opted to jump along and off the wall to position itself behind the twin's landing, though not yet approaching.

In what would occur in brief flashes, these many blurs would meet in what Kanari hoped would be a quick end to the battle. For Kanari himself, these speeds were his element.

The left clone, positioned away from the gate, instead simply kicked off near the genin, just in case they should need assistance or had anything to report. Obviously he didn't jump right in the path of the big ass weapon strike.

As the Fox moved into action, Shingen's eyes were barely able to keep up with her as she cut through the air, eventually reaching the top of the wall itself. She gave him a sudden threat, and even despite all of his bravado, Shingen couldn't stop the chill from running down his spine. A strange mixture of emotions rose in his gut, but the ANBU did not move. If he had felt like the Fox was going to kill the other shinobi on the gate, he likely would have acted. However, knowing that she only planned to render them unconscious, Shingen was unable to make himself move. Instead, he watched, his blue eyes observing his female counterpart's movements. She confirmed his suspicions, and none of the defending shinobi were too badly harmed. "Quick, as always," he muttered to the fox-masked shinobi in a halfhearted compliment.

The boy's free hand clenched into a fist as his other hand tightened its grip on his sword. For a moment, he considered attacking, but he pushed the thought aside. He was still so angry, but a motherly voice in the back of his head dissuaded him from taking any action. This time, the blonde listened. "I won't get in your way," he replied, turning his head to cast a glance at the masked figure. "I owe you a debt for saving my life. Consider it repaid." Glancing back at the battlefield below, Shingen surveyed it for a long moment as smaller battles began to break out among the major players. Eventually, his blue eyes settled on the group of younger shinobi, presumably genin.

I should deal with them, he eventually decided. It'll keep them away from the bigger dangers, and it'll also stop them from meddling. I don't want Tsume-tan's party to be waylaid. Taking a few steps forward, Shingen stood on the edge of the wall, sheathing Kusanagi in a fluid motion. "What I want to know is... why? Why did you spare me? And that wasn't the only time, either..." His voice was shaky, though he tried his best not to let his conflicted emotions show on his face. He wasn't succeeding at that.

"What is it you want from me?" The blonde lingered atop the wall for a minute, waiting for an answer from the fox-masked figure. However, whether or not he received one, his last word word was the same before he hurled himself off of the edge of the wall, hurtling towards the ground before landing on his feet with a thud at the bottom. "I'm..."

Brushing some dust off of his coat now that he was on the ground, Shingen cursed his own stubbornness as he replayed what he wanted to say in his head. I'm sorry. However, despite the remorse that he felt, he just couldn't force the other word out. Not now, not so soon after their last encounter. The pain was still too fresh. Shoving all thoughts of the Fox out of his mind now, Shingen dashed across the battlefield towards the gathering of children, stopping beside the Hokage's clone that guarded the genin.

"I'll keep them safe," he said, as he dashed by the Handsome Hokage. "I'm here to protect Kemuri; I won't let the genin get passed me, but I'll keep them out of harm's way. I'm sure your battles will be messy."

Glancing at the assembled group of genin, Shingen put his signature grin back on his face and gave them a thumbs-up. "Sorry to say, you guys aren't going any further," he explained, moving a bit further back and away from the front of the battlefield so as to give the two kage some space to fight. "If you guys don't impress me, I'll recommend you be sent back to the Academy."

Exit.

As the battle began but didn't truly start, the Konoha forces began to cut swathes through the Kemuri defenders. Her sensei's voice called out a question and taking a moment to look at the Shokaichu placed on her scarf, she spoke loud enough for the higher ups to hear. Her voice was scratchy and hoarse, she couldn't recall ever speaking so loudly. "There are the ones on the wall. Sixteen or so on the other side within 100 meters. There is a group moving away with a more thickened number of signatures. They seem to be balked for the moment."

Shortly after her description of the enemy locations, one of the adversaries on the top of the wall began their move. Faster than the Aburame could follow with her eyes, the two Kage, or at least the Hokage and the proclaimed Kemurikage, began their fight. The shaking of her fingertips stopped suddenly. What's the point of being nervous? Nothing I could do would matter. If they wanted me dead, then I would be. Her heartbeat which had been erratic up until this point slowed to it's normal pace. In some ways it was comforting to know that your best didn't matter. Her eyes were drawn to another event however, this one moving at a speed she was much more familiar with. Well.

Grabbing Nagi's knotted hands tighter in her own, she leaned in slightly, "I remember what you did. Gomen." She placed the boy between her and the falling Kemuri shinobi and raced the pair of them backwards. It was similar to what Nagi had attempted with the two downed opponents from Kumogakure. She had meant to draw the parallels but was not willing to let him take the brunt of the blow. With a final heave, she flipped him over her back as the two skid away from the shockwave that followed the bunny-eared shinobi's blow. The attack was straightforward however it was nothing short than impressive. The target of the attack had been Seto and so she would fight alongside her sensei. Besides, someone had to watch his back or his impulsiveness would surely be a hindrance to the mission. She gave a once over glance to the captured Kemuri-nin and after deducing that he was unharmed, she stood and called her bugs down from the walls. As she sent them toward the kanabo user, another movement halted her actions.

From the first sentence she knew what he was going to say. I've read this chapter. It's cliche for him to be this cliche. She nodded once he had finished however and stared at the man's chest. "I'm sure your recommendations hold weight in our village." Keeping her eyes on his chest and hips, Saya threw up a hand so that Seto could see it. That one movement would tell him that she had this covered and most of all, it said good luck.

"You hold your head too high." Her words were harsh, both in tone and in meaning, but if she didn't act strong for the rest of the Genin who would? The Fox was taking out groups of men, the Hokage was fighting at speeds she couldn't follow, and Seto was now fighting a man who shattered the earth in front of him. She would need to stand taller. Unbelievable or not, her body language would tell anyone that looked at her that she meant what she had said.

Seto's eyes never left the men on the wall, as if he had tunnel vision and the others around him became invisible. The sand had been seeping into ground for quite awhile now shifting the sand in the vicinity now for awhile. Seto could feel the difference in the air and the area. He would see the Fox appear on the wall as he watched the men on the wall. The Uchiha watched Kaoru go to reach for an Kanabo on his back, which to Seto was easily visible and launch himself off the wall and toward Seto. Seto merely smiled as his eyes locked onto the man with the bunny ears. This is childs play.

As Seto completed the hand seal for horse he would hold it as he allowed Katon to begin building into his chest. As Koaru made an motion to begin a mid-air overhead strike, the weapon before even reaching it's apex. Seto would release the massive blast of flames from his mouth toward the Koaru while he is in midair. Seto focused his aim on Koaru keeping the flame shooting forward hitting the spiked bat before it even had a chance to grow. With the intense heat which started to melt the metal almost immediately, burning a hot red color as the destruction of the front of the spiked bat from the heat made it malleable before it even touched the ground. it created no such shockwave. The flames leaving Seto's mouth kept flowing the flames as it quickly blew past the entirely of the rest of the spiked bat swallowing it in flames. The heat coming from the flames was gonna put the other man in danger of being swallowed by the flames as they danced toward him. The flames were daring to swallow him whole as flames flew toward him at an increasing speed and intensity. The object of it's burning destruction: Koaru.
