Shang had never ridden on a boat before.

He had been standing on the bow of the ship, his Raikage attire covering the very obvious battle armor he wore underneath it, for several hours now. He had been taking in the fresh salt air as Kirigakure grew. It had started as a small dot on the horizon, and now the massive walls that protected the island towered over them. He hadn’t sent word that he was coming, which left him with mixed feelings. He realized he was intruding on the Mizukage, but he hoped that she wouldn’t mind. It wouldn’t do to have a bird intercepted with his travel plans. He had only one genin with him, and their foes were innumerable.

The boat docked, the experienced crew performing the procedure very quickly. The port official that came to check the cargo manifest almost lost his jaw when he saw Shang. He pushed the manifest back to the captain and retreated, while motioning – as respectfully as he could manage – for Shang to stay there. ”Well, Kazame, it seems we have received a warm enough welcome. I was considering sending you out to mingle with some of the other Kirigakure shinobi. Would you prefer that, or to stay with me?” It was a real question, with a real choice; Shang wouldn’t make the boy do something on what amounted to a vacation for the young man.

This experience was a new one for the young Takoyaiba clan member, the violent seas crashed against the wooden exterior of the ship as it made way to Kirigakure no Sato. What lay underneath the surface of the ocean would be nothing short of a mystery to Kazame, one that he hadn't thought much of being in the Clouds for the most if not all of his life. But now, being on a ship roaring past waves after waves he couldn't help but wonder if he would be able to master this harsh element one day. The salt in the air only increased by the waters dividing as the tip of the ship cut through the liquid. Kazame's ears were assaulted by the crew's ramblings about keeping the ship afloat and making sure it was on course for their destination, keeping the Raikage waiting due to lack of skill would be a poor choice for self-preservation. Kazame doesn't know a lot about the man, but he could only assume he liked things a certain way and one wouldn't become leader of a country without having the discipline to be on time wherever he want, something the Kazame still lacked.

Suddenly as the boat halted its movements upon entering the docks a man would come to the ship, eyes almost closed, looking upon the leader of the Cloud Country asking for semantics like who he was among other things. His eyes opened when Shang opted not to answer such petty questions and when they did, his mouth sat agape and his hands that were once steady caught a case of the shakes. It was clear he was nervous and knew he had made a mistake simply assuming the ship wasn't carrying royalty. He then bowed and gestured for Lord Raikage and Kazame onto the land at the same time. The rain picked up from when they were on the ocean and Kazame didn't do anything about trying to keep himself dry. He simply allowed the rain to fall on his skin and hair as he listened to his master.

"Lord Raikage, I'd rather stay by your side." Kazame stated looking back at the foolish man from before, then looking back to his Lord. "These people seem odd." Another statement, true enough to its core. He sugar coated a small bit being in a foreign country for the first time he didn't want to truly offend anyone. Kazame simply stood alongside his Raikage and awaited instruction.

”Very well,” the old man said to Kazame. ”It’s not every day you get to meet a Mizukage, eh? Well, hopefully we shall be allowed through soon enough. I’m sure the man is just checking with the shinobi that guard the docks, making sure we are who we say we are.” He looked to the people around, almost all of them pale as snow – a stark contrast to his onyx skin. ”Kazame, you will be privy to information that you would do well to not repeat. This is a sensitive subject. I do not know much about the art of diplomacy but, perhaps, together we shall learn.” He looked down to the young shinobi, seeing how he would respond. He had seemed responsible enough on the journey so far, and he was sure that the boy would raise no objections to being privy to secret information.

Kazame laughed at the comparison Lord Raikage made comparing the Mist shinobi's skin to the two from Kumogakure. It was a funny joke but had truths behind the statement. "Probably because of all this damn rain." Kazame said under his breath.

Kazame's head lowered a tad when Lord Raikage spoke to him about secret information, he could be trusted of course if Lord Raikage wished he not say anything then no words may be spoke about what he might hear. "Of course Master, I don't know much about politics either but I will learn as much as I can."

It had been a long and kinda tedious bumpy ride for the young Ainu, but, after having spent the majority of her time teaching many sailors on the boat the fine arts of swordsmanship - she couldn't help but feel invigorated for more. Never before had she witnessed so many people interested and willing to learn from her. Truth be told, all she taught them was the basics, something anyone could do. Especially shinobi. Yet, all of her 'disciples' seemed to be all equally satisfied with her teachings. And with that, she too was satisfied to be their temporary teacher. Hopefully one day, the techniques she had taught them, would aid them in the nearby future.

With her equipment doublechecked, Kirin rendezvoused with the Raikage and the other escort. She wore her usual purple attire and her headband was proudly worn around her neck, acting as a scarf of some sort. She walked up to the pair, announcing her presence rather quickly. "Good morning!" her soft voice resonated, causing even a few sailors that she had trained previously to respond in kind. The sword girl stopped right next to the Raikage before leaning forwards to stare into the yonder. Her eyes widened, the docks, the water, the fresh air, the seagulls, it was all breathtaking! Never had she imagined that she'd travel around the world. Especially over the great sea itself! One day she was at the training grounds, dealing with a 'titan-shifter'. now she was the Raikage's personal escort. As a samurai, she couldn't imagine why he picked her, but she dare not question his reasoning.

It seemed Kazame got the gist of what he was saying – which was good, since Shang had been pretty explicit. He was about to say something when Kirin walked onto the deck, greeting them. ”Ah, Kirin, good to see you.” He was pleased that the girl had been able to catch up – it would do her well to see some bit of the world before the conflict that would likely follow. ”Ah, Kirin, I’m pleased to see you. I trust that the seamen have made astute students?” She had been teaching them the basics of swordplay during the trip – always a good thing for the sailors to know. Piracy was an ever present threat on the high seas, they were explaining to him.
