Mei entered the training grounds unsure as to what she was doing here. She knew she wanted to get some training in but she wasn't sure how to really go about that alone. This was why she needed to make friends. She knew all about studying and basic concepts of techniques. But how did one train these practices alone? Most of all trying to specialize in Ijutsu made that even harder! She had no one who was injured to practice fixing wounds on. Healing fish was one thing, but a actual living person was another thing completely.
Secondly what would she do if someone where to attack her? She knew basic defensive moves but that would only do so much. Being a teams medic meant that she needed to be able to survive to help ensure her teams survival. Even though she had graduated the academy Mei felt as though she had a long way to go. With a long sigh she began to stretch her muscles. That was a good a place as any to start right?
Hopping from tree to tree Ayla arrived at another more distant part of Konoha's training grounds. She had met Enkou previously, yes the boy was cocky, overconfident and a bit silly. Yet, she knew he had a heart and had woken him up from his delusional dream state. She had to punch some sense into him and throw him into the water a couple of times but at the end, it worked out. Now she was hoping to fill up her team with more potential members. She had one so far, ideally, she wanted at the very least two more, three more would be the maximum.
Effortlessly she landed on top of a branch, her balance remained close to perfect as she stared down onto the sparring genin. Gold and grey eyes scanned for any interesting looking individual, but sadly she found none immediately. Her gloved fingers gripped tightly for the cord of her backpack as she suddenly twirled into an upside down position, chakra on her feet keeping her attached as a large suiton technique raced by and into the trees. "Man, what's up with these suiton user's today?! It's as if they're actually trying to hit me!" she cursed in her thoughts before noticing a girl stretching right underneath her.
"Yo! What's hanging?" she asked whilst revealing her white canine sharp teeth in a grin. Her brown fluffy tail sprawled around playfully as if it was beckoning for attention.
As Mei stretched she began to wonder if she would ever be able to make any friends. She tried to push the thoughts from her mind, focusing on her breathing instead. If she were to ever make any friends she would have to be able to help them and be there for them. That's what she was doing here, getting better for the friends she didn't have. She began to loose herself in thought as she stretched out her arms.
"Yo! What's hanging?" a voice said from above Mei. She let out a yelp in surprise stumbling to the ground from the shock. Looking up she saw a tailed woman with a full grin across her face. She was standing upside down on the tree branch eyeing Mei like she was some sort of prey. She probably wasn't far off by the way she had reacted. Man I really need to be more aware of my surroundings She thought to herself.
Unsure as to what this woman wanted Mei began her response as she began to stand up "W-Who are you?" she mumbled. "Why you are what's up, literally!" dusting the dirt off her jacket. Why was Mei such a frightened mess?
Different colored eyes looked down upon the potential pup. Ayla’s face forming the expression of a face in deep thought. “She’s kinda...small, looks a bit frightened, lack of awareness seems to be an issue too. Probably fresh from the academy...why is she nervous?” Unfortunately she had to take care of the smoke trail first. The one that had recently appeared within the village. Truth be told she hoped it was just an accident and nothing else but...that did not happen often, if at all. Not to such an extend. “Hey pup.” She spoke as she effortlessly poofed a perfect replica of herself, standing on top of the branch instead. “The name’s Ayla Inuzuka, you’re in luck. Welcome to team something!” The real one spoke with an uoside down grin.
White canine teeth hid themselves, “Sadly I need to go, but my clone here” hand pointed towards her copy “will take care of you. Good luck!” A final grin and wave caused for the Inuzuka and her ninken to vanish in smoke. Today was a busy day, hopefully she could wrap things uo quickly - that was not to say that it was kinda interesting.
Mei looked up and listened to the jounin with two different colored eyes as she analyzed her from above. Before long she welcomed Mei to team something as a clone of her poof'd into existence. The real one looked off toward the cloud of smoke that had risen within the village..... smoke from the village?! What was happening? where people injured? should she go and help?
"What should we do?" she asked hesitantly "What is team something?" Why was Mei so unsure? It sounded like she was getting an invitation to finally make friends. But would she even be helpful on a team? Only time would tell.
"What is team something you ask?" the clone tilted her head "Well I'm not sure myself but It's a team that you're now a part of, congratulations." chakra released and she hopped down the branch. Allowing herself to descend upon the soft grass-covered earthen floor. "As for what we should do." she began with a wink. "We're gonna train you up until your teammates arrive!" a grin spread on her face, revealing the canine white tooth for all to see.
Ran twirled a kunai from her blue holster. Spinning it around as she was in thought. "Let's see...I guess we can play a game." the kunai twirled through the air, tossed towards the genin, Ran hoping that she could at least capture a slow moving object from the air. "So attack me, and each time you do, tell me something about yourself, hobby, age, name, strengths, weaknesses and so on."
Ayla had suggested that the two play a game as she dropped down from the tree. As she did this she explained that she was in charge of team something and that Mei was now a member of it. Did that mean that she would have teammates too? Who where they? Why was she chosen? So many questions! But before she could start rapidly asking them to her new.... sensei? A kunai was tossed in her direction. As she stepped to the left to let it pass Mei maintained eye contact with Ayla.
"So attack me, and each time you do, tell me something about yourself, hobby, age, name, strengths, weaknesses and so on."
Beginning to build chakra in both her hands Mei took a defensive stance rather than an offensive one. She was a medical ninja... "No medic ninja shall ever die until they are the last of their platoon." Mei thought as she thought back to her text. Looking at her sensei with a determined face, she was ready to prove her worth for a team.
Ran looked with a confused expression, unsure of what had just happened. Was she under attack? No. At least not visibly so. Curiously she began to inspect herself, raising her arms to look underneath them as well as bend to see if she was wounded elsewhere on the lower parts of her body. She even twisted her midsection to have a look at her back but nothing. Did she not attack her and just state info about herself? That was annoying.
She sighed, planting her face into her palm. “Okay, listen. I’m gonna ignore what you all just said. The point is to attack me. Will you do the same when a superior shinobi asks you to coordinate an attack with him? Just stand there and watch him rely on support that may only come once he’s down and bloodied?" Arms folded underneath her breast, pushing her firm assets slightly upwards. A more stern gaze glared at the genin this time.
“Again. Attack me or you'll become a medical academy student, yeah?”
It seemed as though Mei had already failed what her sensei had asked her to do to. A wave of disappointed washed over her as she stood watching her sensei look herself over. She had probably thought Mei might have caused some sort of genjutsu but that wasn't the case. As she dipped her face into her hands in disappointment Mei made her move. She was slightly distracted so that might give her an upper hand... yea?
Kikaichu began racing along the length of her arms as she barreled toward her sensei. In a matter of moments Mei would clear the few feet between the two keeping low as she charged. In her last step he would thrust her left hand forward palm open aiming for her Aylas chest. Keeping her scalpels up she would try to cut a nerve or collapse a lung, knowing that she could repair any damages that she may cause. Mei also flowed chakra into her muscles as she pressed forward wanting to show how strong she truly was. If she would land the hit Kikaichu would plant themselves on her person leading the way.
Unsure of what was to come Mei only hoped that she would be prepared enough to deal with it. She had to prove her worth on this team.
Chakra Enhanced Strength (10 sp)
Chakra Scalpel x2 (10 sp)
Mei 100/100 sp (0/30 Ijutsu)
Strength: Masterful + Minor (w/ Enchanced Strength)
Everything else same
"Cheeky." the Inuzuka grinned as her new pupil made a move after all. "She shows more promise than Enkou, a medical student that knows how to deceive, find an opening and attack." This kid, she had potential. Ran liked her. An eerie grin popped up her face, revealing her sharp canine-like teeth as the Aburame entered melee range. With a twist of her body she turned a sharp right allowing Mei's palm attack to continue forward where Ayla's midsection would have been. In a blur Ran lashed out. Her gloved hand grabbing the wrist of Mei tightly away from the sleeves where the insects would have attempted to pour out from. She then pulled in the direction Mei was thrusting towards while her right feet extended to not only use the girl's unstable momentum against her - but to also add in her own brute strength - guaranteeing that the medical student would fall, face first and hard into the dirt. The actions so fast that it would have seemed to have happened in barely a second.
She hopped roughly two meters back, where Mei originally came from "My middle name is, Ran Inuzuka. But you can call me sensei!" the clone grinned as it slammed its fist into its open palm. "Come, tell me more about yourself!"
Ran was far more dexterous than Mei to no surprise as she easily grabbed her students wrist. In one fluid motion she trusted Mei to the ground and jumped away. Asking for more information about her new student.
Mei stood up brushing dirt off her favorite jacket trying hot to show her disappointment. She knew a frontal assault like that was likely to fail, yet she had tried it anyways. She needed to take a new approach. Forming the usual seal a clone proofed into existence on her right.
"I have a photographic memory" she stated as the two began to charge her sensei once more. The real Mei kept a her scalpels on both hands up while the clone stayed bare handed. As the two charged the clone would grab the fallen kunai by its hilt in its left hand as it passed.
The clone started to speed up in front of the original looking to strike at Ran head on. A few feet before they would make impact it would charge chakra into it's right fist and slam it as hard as it could into the ground in front of it. In the same instance it would do this the real Mei would jump off the crouched clones back and leap to try to surprise Ran with an attack from behind the debris. As a cloud of dirt rose she would pass through left hand extended, right hand held back ready to thrust forward. Perhaps a move like this could work. She would have to wait to see.
The girl charged once more, and for a moment Ran considered to stop her right there and then in her tracks. "A photographic memory huh? Cool, I got that too!" She observed the pair running for her, probably about to do a very standard 'deceive' tactic. One was going to distract her, the other was going to attack her. She knew because she'd have done it too. Eyes glanced towards the sky, "It's getting late." before glancing back down at the fight at hand. It was then that the clone crouched, probably attempting to destroy the ground with some earth jutsu or to. *SLAM*"Ah yeah, of course." Dust and debris covered their attack, but not only theirs, that of Ran's too. She moved. Faster and preemptively. A hand emerged from the cloud as Ran dashed in, moving her body to lean towards the right as it barely missed her.
She grabbed it once more in a blur as the girl emerged from the cloud before once again using her momentum against her to slam her down into the ground. Before the clone could react, she'd pounce at it - her movement never stopping. Right now free hand, cocked into a fist before punching through its face. Sending it hopefully back where it came from. To clone land.
Ran stood up, cleaning off the dirt she had gathered on her hands. "Well, you pass. Prepare for tomorrow, you'll meet your teammates then. Or...well, teammate." she glanced towards the Aburame, not having witnessed too much of the girl but already having calculated roughly what she could and couldn't do. She was strong, very strong, Ran knew, that this girl could make a difference already in a battlefield. "You should practice your taijutsu, you're good at it now, but you can get even better at it. I'm sure of it." she gave the girl a last grin and reassuring thumbs-up before disappearing into thin smoke.
"Don't be late!" a lingering message as the smoke dissipated into the air.
Meis attack had failed yet again as she jumped off the clones back to lunge at her sensei. As she move her sensei was quick to react poofing the clone away while then grabbing Mei again and throwing her to the ground. As Mei stood up brushing off dirt her new sensei Ran informed her that they were done for the day and would meet the rest of the team tomorrow. With a bow Mei would thank Ran and begin to leave the scene the day turning out to be more productive than she had thought it would. Passing by the kunai as she left she bent down to grab it and put it in her leg holster for later use. It sounded like she was going to be needing it in the future.
