Daichi was becoming more well adjusted to early mornings. One would think it would have happened sooner, with the various activities ninja are required to do. Daichi still required more sleep than most. This morning though, Daichi was alert and awake. He had to be if he didn't want to get injured. The journey to the Valley Of The End was not short, and much of it was traveled moving from tree to tree. Maybe some shinobi could do such things in their sleep, but for Daichi, it was still a pretty active effort. Once he reached the tree line at the top of the waterfall, Madara's head came into view. He could see the tiny image of someone sitting atop the head, from this far below he only could assume who. The fact that he was summoned here by Seto for team 7's training meant that it was most likely his Uchiha sensei. Daichi began to run up the side of the statue using chakra control to defy gravity. Once he reached the top, he saw his sensei in the village's official military uniform. He also saw two girls around his age, one with red hair and training clothes on. He noticed her flail and wondered what happened to the other girl with the flail he had sparred against. In order to get past the sense of deja vu, he completely ignored the girls at the bottom of the statue. He had things of importance to say to his sensei.
"Seto-sensei, I'm glad to see you're okay. One moment I was surrounded by your sand, the next I grabbed Etsu's hand and we were gone."
Daichi immediately began recounting the events of the last time they had seen each other. He had been waiting for the chance to thank him for his protection. "I want to thank you. Without your help I.. I wouldn't have made it."
With that realization he left a long pause, embarrassed to admit what he felt next. "But that's the reason. The reason I was glad Etsu took us away. I was only getting in the way...
Another pause as the quiet Daichi gathered all his strength to say these things. "That's why I want you to train me. Show me how to be strong, so that next time I won't need to be rescued."
Thoughts of his parents flooded his mind. He wondered if cowardice was hereditary. If he was cursed to a life of fear and weakness. In that moment, with that speech, he committed himself to finding out. He would train with everything he had to prove to himself that he could be a true shinobi.
After he had finished he collected himself in a few short breaths. He looked down from the statue again to see the girls, who Daichi now realized would likely be his new teammates. Did his style match up particularly well with flails? And why had his team been broken apart and reassigned yet again? Three times was truly too many. He hoped that he would like his new team well enough and that this time they would stay together longer than one meeting.
