Bloodline Name: Kumonosujutsu
Clan Name: Kumogami
Leader: Tsuchigumo Kumogami (NPC)
Village: Kemurigakure no Sato

Clan Description:
From times immemorial, there had apparently been a strange family of warriors who resided in the Land of Smoke. At some point in their history, this family, known as the Kumogami, was rumored to have encountered the Jorogumo, or woman-spider, a legendary yokai which had been living deep in the heart of the Land of Smoke since the age of the Sage of Six Paths. Kumohime Kumogami, the leader of this warrior family at the time, had supposedly made a eternal, binding blood pact with the Jorogumo in which it would teach her and her subordinates her secret spider arts and give them and their descendants her blessings in exchange for their eternal, undying loyalty. Thus, the fabled, long standing relationship between the Jorogumo, her children and the Kumogami warrior family began in earnest.

From then on, several stories with each subsequent one being more elaborate and fantastic than its predecessor, began to spread throughout the Land of Smoke and later throughout the rest of the world about the Kumogami family and the strange new generation which was born into it that was said to have disconcerting physical anomalies and incredible otherworldly abilities due to the blessings of the Jorogumo. At least, that’s what had happened according to the many stories told about the Kumogami. Whatever the reason for this change, it was a hard, irrefutable fact that thenceforth, all the members of the newer, subsequent generations were seen to have eight appendages (namely, six upper limbs and two lower ones) as well as the ability to create spider silk just like the spiders they had worshipped and continued to worship with great fervor. Over the next several generations and even well into the age of the first shinobi, these perks had allegedly allowed the Kumogami to excel in whatever battles they took part in more and more until their names had become famous throughout the world, and especially in the Land of Smoke. At the same time, the Kumogami grew larger and larger with each generation until the current age arrived in which the new leadership finally decided that since they would become a formal shinobi clan.

To aid in this endeavor, they set about condensing and modifying the hereditary arts passed down through their family, now a shinobi clan, to ultimately create a formal set of secret clan-specific ninja techniques thanks to the knowledge about chakra manipulation, taijutsu, genjutsu, and the like. Armed as they were with this new, much more efficient, modernized system of spider themed, secret ninja clan techniques, the Kumogami managed to get the attention of the new ninja village that had at last formed after all the recent wars in the Land of Smoke, namely Kemurigakure no Sato, or the Hidden Smoke Village. Once this took place, talks between the Kumogami and the leaders of Kemurigakure began and after what seemed like several months of back and forth, incessant negotiation, the Kumogami clan and the Kemuri leaders had finally reached a mutually beneficial agreement on how to proceed into the future. As part of the bargain, the Kumogami promised eternal loyalty to Kemurigakure no Sato and in exchange, they received the blessings of this hidden ninja village as well as their promise of continued future prosperity and good fortune. In this manner, the mutually beneficial relationship between the Kumogami clan and Kemurigakure which exists even into the present day took shape and will hopefully continue to hold out long into the future.

Clan Traits/Characteristics:
All members of this clan, whether they be male or female are dark skinned shinobi with black, shaggy hair tied into a pony tail (though usually only the men possess shaggy, coarse hair whereas the women possess smooth, silky hair), and keen, piercing black eyes. Two of these can be seen on their faces just like those of any other person while the third is usually kept closed and hidden beneath a headband or some other article of clothing which they use to cover their foreheads. Both men and women of this clan are fairly tall and have six upper limbs as well which, when taken together with their two lower limbs, give them a total of 8 limbs just as those of a spider.

Their attire may vary in exact hue according to the personal preferences of each clan member, but the over all pattern tends to be the same. They usually prefer to wear sleeveless dark colored tops under a sleeveless light colored tunics that can be seen bearing the clan symbol (namely, the Jorogumo) on the back. Below they usually either wear dark colored skin-tight shorts or standard ninja trousers. On their forearms are usually some manner of arm-warmers or perhaps wristbands and their choice of footwear is traditional shinobi sandals in the color of their choice. Some may also wear calf-length leg warmers covered by bandages, and some others even go so far as to wear a thin, purple, rope-like belt tied in an inverted bow around their waists to secure their outfits. The nature of the fabric making up these outfits naturally varies with the exact demands of the season that is predominant at any given time. That said, though the aforementioned outfit is the norm, the members are not actually required to wear it exactly to those specifications, and can choose to wear whatever outfits suit their particular fancies.

Clan Personality:
Generally speaking, the personalities of the Kumogami clan members run the gamut of possibilities from the somewhat low key to the outright pompous and exuberant as well as everything in between, but there are certain traits which all of them will almost certainly display in most situations. They almost always see any situation, including combat, as a game and will approach them with a laid-back ease that can often prove irksome to those who tend to be overly emotionally sensitive to this type of behavior. They greatly enjoy combat and relish the thought and act of trying to find strong opponents/targets who can prove to be a source of entertainment for them very much. In contrast, they often tend to find weaker opponents/targets not worth their time and get bored easily when up against them. They may also be heard using typical gaming terminology such as “level”, “difficulty”, or “minor character”.

They also tend to be extremely arrogant and some may even have a sadistic side which can be seen by observing their tendency to play around with their foes/targets too much due to their wish to have fun seeing said foes/targets struggle in vain against them. As if this weren’t enough, they may even laugh and become gradually more brutal in their strategies, attacks, and responses. This is a big weakness to the members of this clan because it can cause them to slow their teams down by overextending their battles with interesting opponents/targets rather than finishing them off quickly and this major weakness is only compounded by the their typical overconfidence which can make them underestimate their foes/targets and then lose the fight because of this fatal mistake.

Bloodline Description:
The members of the Kumogami clan possess and practice an obscure form of secret ninjutsu which grants them three different kinds of perks. The first is their unique body structure which grants them a total of eight appendages, similar to spiders. These allow them to add extra power and variety to attacks, hold multiple tools simultaneously, to perform several tasks simultaneously, and even make multiple handseals simultaneously. They also possess a third eye on their foreheads which is usually kept hidden beneath their hitai-ate, but when revealed and active such as in a serious battle, the eye grants them a boost to perception and since it is related, to tracking as well. Some of the more intelligent members may also find themselves getting an extra precognition save above their baseline granted by their wisdom level.

The second perk enjoyed by this clan’s members is the ability to make spider webs by infusing their body fluids with chakra. They can use these webs to bind, trap, or even to sense enemies. These webs are extremely sticky, yet durable and elastic in nature due to the clan member’s ability to constantly funnel their chakra into them. As a result, these elastic webs cannot be cut with ordinary non chakra flow enhanced weapons and cannot be torn apart by brute force alone. The Kumogami clan members can also make a thicker golden liquid which can harden into a chakra-resistant type of metal when it makes contact with the air. By chewing this spider web substance in his mouth, they can make it more solid and gum-like, allowing to create makeshift weapons such as senbon, kunai, and the like. They can also secrete this material from their sweat glands all over their body to form full body armor which is highly resistant to physical attacks, metal throwing weapons, and even standard chakra based attacks. Finally, they can form their clan’s ultimate weapon, a giant war bow and its associated arrows that can even shatter trees when fired, with this golden spider web liquid.

The final perk afforded to the Kumogami clan members is their high affinity for spiders of all kinds. As a result, they actually have a clan specific contract with a certain spider family led by a giant spider named “Kyodaigumo”. This contract allows them to call forth and command various spiders for any purpose they see fit such as combat, scouting, tracking, etc.

Bloodline Limits:
Since the spider webs made by the Kumogami clan have a chakra base, they can be cut by chakra flow enhanced weapon or other pure chakra cutting techniques of the same or higher rank than the Kumogami clan jutsu in question. The Gentle Fist style of taijutsu is especially effective and so, any Gentle Fist technique can cut through Kumogami clan jutsu of up to 1 rank higher than its own without any difficulty since it targets the actual chakra flow through the spider threads to sever it instead of trying to cut the actual thread itself. The webs can also be burnt away by fire style jutsu of same or higher rank, such as the Amaterasu or the related Blaze Release jutsu. The weapons and armor made by the Sticky Spider Thread jutsu used by this clan can be broken with physical force of equal or higher rank than the clan jutsu in question.

Clan Techniques:
D-rank:
Name: Spider’s Extra Arms
Rank: D
Cost: 2, 2/post (upkeep)
Range: Self
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: Monkey
Description:
After they make the requisite handseal, the clan member manifest up to a total of two extra pairs of arms for a total of six which they can use for a variety of purposes. For instance, these allow them to do things like adding extra power and variety to attacks, holding multiple tools simultaneously, performing several tasks simultaneously, and even making multiple handseals simultaneously. As a result, the clan member is granted a Major Advantage to both Strength and Coordination while this jutsu is active.

Drawbacks: N/A

---

Name: Spider Sticking Spit
Rank: D
Cost: 2
Range: 0 to 10 m
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary/Offensive
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member spits a thick rope of spider webbing from their mouth at a target after spending 1 post creating it. The rope is very sticky because of all the webs that are layered together, which the clan member can further increase (or decrease) the stickiness of by altering how much chakra flows into the rope. The rope attaches firmly to targets at the point of contact, allowing the clan member to fling them around into the surroundings. Alternatively, the rope itself can be used to damage targets directly as a whip.

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, webs require 1 post of chewing to make before use so the clan member cannot use any other mouth related jutsu during that time.

---

Name: Sticky Spider Thread: Projectile/Tool Creation
Rank: D (can be trained once at C rank and one last time at B rank difficulty)
Cost: 2
Range: N/A
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member produces a golden metallic substance within their body, which they can gather in his mouth like saliva or secrete from their pores like sweat. It is very malleable when first created, but once it makes contact with the air it hardens rapidly, becoming as strong as steel. For this reason, if they intend to shape the substance into a particular form, they should do so before it's left their body, such as by chewing it into sharp projectiles or other types of tools (e.g. non combat ones) that they can then extract or protrude from their mouth. It takes 2 full posts of chewing to create any of these and as their experience with their clan jutsu increases, they can create more objects with every use of this jutsu starting with 1 or 2 at D class and going all the way up to 6 total at S class. The initial D rank training allows for small noncombat tools only, but this jutsu can be trained once again at C rank difficulty (to allow for creating most secondary weapons like senbon and kunai) and one last time at a B rank difficulty (for most primary weapons like ninja swords or short spears).

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, the substance takes 2 full posts of chewing to craft into objects so the clan member cannot use any other mouth related jutsu during that time.

=======

C-rank:
Name: Spider Web Flowers
Rank: C
Cost: 5
Range: 0 to 10 m
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member chews the spider web liquid in their mouth for 1 post and then spits several small nets at a target or targets; the small size of the nets means they can be produced rapidly, increasing the chances of striking the target(s). The nets are made sticky with chakra, causing them to cling to targets on contact and adhere them to whatever other object or surface the nets touch, thus immobilizing them. The more nets a target is struck with, the stronger the binding.

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, the substance takes 1 full post of chewing to craft into objects so the clan member cannot use any other mouth related jutsu during that time.

=====

B-rank:
Name: Spider’s Third Eye
Rank: B
Cost: 10, 10/post (upkeep)
Range: Self
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: Snake to Bird
Description:
After making the requisite handseals, the clan member manifests a large horizontal third eye in the middle of their forehead. This eye allows them far greater visual acuity to the point that they can accurately visualize and target something or someone at a distance of up to 50 m away from them. This eye also allows them to predict the next moves of the opponent/target by noting the muscle twitches in their bodies. So, the clan member is granted a Major Advantage to Perception and Tracking + 1 extra precognition save maximum in addition to their baseline while this jutsu is active.

Drawbacks:
This third eye is limited to normal human depth perception and can be blinded by anything that can usually blind a normal eye. Since this jutsu requires so much chakra it only lasts for 3 posts before fading and if the clan member uses up the 1 extra precognition save before the jutsu wears off, they will NOT get another one.

----

Name: Sticky Spider Thread: Armor Creation
Rank: B
Cost: 10
Range: Self
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Defensive
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member secretes the “Sticky Spider Thread” from their pores like sweat until it fully covers their chosen body part or even their entire body. This golden metallic substance then hardens when it makes contact with the air, becoming a defensive armour as strong as steel. The clan member can produce the armour very quickly, forming it even against attacks that take him by surprise. As a special property of this jutsu, the armour is fortified against chakra, insulating the clan member from chakra based attacks such as the Gentle Fist (All chakra based attacks interacting with the clan member while this jutsu is active perform as if they are 1 rank lower than their actual baseline).

Drawbacks: See “Bloodline Limits” section

---

Name: Spider Web Net
Rank: B
Cost: 10
Range: 0 to 5 m
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member chews the spider web liquid for 1 post and then spits a web of threads from their mouth, the web's size being adjusted depending on how far away their targets are and how many they intends to trap using this jutsu. On successful contact, the web pushes targets away from the clan member and wraps around them, trapping them. Because the clan member's threads are made sticky with chakra, escaping from them is difficult once trapped successfully. The most common form of use of this technique is in response to frontal attacks, the webs neutralising the clan member’s opponents before they can harm them.

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, the substance takes 1 full post of chewing to craft into objects so the clan member cannot use any other mouth related jutsu during that time.

---

Name: Spider Web Area
Rank: B
Cost: 10
Range: All ranges
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member spreads a network of "touch threads" throughout an area (the network taking about 2 posts to form fully). They then constantly send their chakra along the threads, allowing them to sense anything that comes into contact with the threads; the threads are sensitive enough to even detect slight disturbances in the air. Because the threads appear no different than normal spider webs, they aren't likely to be noticed and thus are effective as an alert of approaching enemies. The most common use for this technique is while the clan member and the rest of their squad are resting to ensure they won't be ambushed by any enemies. The touch threads, being as strong as standard ninja wire, can also be used to reel in those who've contacted them.

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, this network takes 2 full posts to form fully, and the clan member has to focus in order to create it so they won’t be able to use any other jutsu while making the network.

=====

A-rank:
Name: Spider Web Cocoon
Rank: A
Cost: 15
Range: 0 to 5 m
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member imprisons a target in a cocoon of spider threads that takes 1 post to form (the basic cocoon takes 1 post, but to constrict it around the target takes 1 additional post for 2 posts total). Because of how tightly around the target the spider threads are stretched, they are unable to move once they've been trapped successfully. The clan member can further constrict the threads by flowing additional chakra into them, to the point of ultimately strangling the target. The threads are produced by mixing clan member’s saliva with chakra, making them exceptionally sticky. As with all of the clan member's webbing, targets can free themselves by injecting their own chakra into the threads, such as with the Gentle Fist.

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, the basic cocoon takes 1 post, but to constrict it around the target takes 1 additional post for 2 posts total. While doing this, the clan member cannot use any other jutsu till the cocoon is formed fully.

---

Name: Summon Spider: “Kyodaigumo”
Rank: A
Cost: 15
Range: All ranges
Type: Kuchiyose
Sub-type: offensive, Defensive, Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: Boar to Dog to Bird to Monkey to Ram
Description:
After making the requisite handseals, the clan member calls forth the ”Kyodaigumo”, a gigantic female black spider with orange stripes going down the back of her abdomen which greatly resembles a tarantula. Once summoned, Kyodaigumo can quickly release an egg sac full of baby spiders, each of which is roughly the size of a small dog. Then, the clan member cuts open the sac, causing the rapidly hatched spiders to rain down on their opponent. The spiders will spin a strand of webbing as they fall, circling the opponent in webbing and sticking them to the ground. These spiders converge on their victim's location, ensnaring their victims in spider webs, cutting off the victim's exits and restricting their movements until the victim is completely encased in a cage like construct. Kyodaigumo can also explode into webbing if hit with a chakra based attack such as Gentle Fist.

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, the clan member must have already earned the trust and respect of and bonded successfully with the ”Kyodaigumo” as per the standard protocol before they can even use this jutsu [see associated spider summon page for more details on bonding protocol). Also, if they not skilled enough, the ”Kyodaigumo” and her children might actually turn on their summoner instead of attacking their opponent(s)/target(s).

---

Name: Spiral Spider Web
Rank: A
Cost: 15
Range: 0 to 10 m
Type: Ninjutsu
Sub-type: Supplementary
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member chews their spider webbing fluid in their mouths for 1 full post and then in 1 more subsequent post, they create a ball of spider webbing which they then expand into a large spiralling web using their six arms. They most often use this while they are in the mid-air, allowing the web to spread over a wide area. Approaching enemies are usually caught off guard by the technique and end up suspended in place by it. The webbing is made sticky with chakra, restricting victims' movements and thus leaving them at clan member's mercy. The web is elastic enough and strong enough that a kunai cannot cut it and that two elephants pulling it from opposite ends cannot break it. As with all of the clan member's spider webbing, targets can free themselves by injecting their own chakra into the webbing, such as with the Gentle Fist.

Drawbacks:
See “Bloodline Limits” section, the clan member needs 2 full posts to chew the spider webbing fluid in their mouth and so, during this time, they won’t be able to use any other mouth related jutsu.

======

S-rank:
Name: Sticky Spider Thread: Spider War Bow & Arrows
Rank: S
Cost: 20
Range: 10 to 50 m
Type: Ninjutsu, Kyujutsu
Sub-type: Offensive
Elemental Affinity: N/A
Notation: Hiden
Handsigns: N/A
Description:
The clan member first chews the ”Sticky Spider Thread” and the golden metallic substance it creates in their mouth for 1 post and in the subsequent 1 post, they craft it into a giant war bow by carefully expelling the ”Sticky Spider Thread” and the golden metallic substance it creates from their mouth. With it, they are able to fire arrows, using their body's eight limbs to boost the bowstring’s tension beyond the capacity of normal people. Because of how much power is put into each arrow, they travel incredibly quickly, too fast to see for anyone whose Tracking is not Masterful or above. On impact, the arrows pierce cleanly through the target and obstacles alike and can even crater the ground behind them. However, to use this jutsu, the “Spider’s Third Eye” jutsu as well as the “Spider’s Extra Arms” jutsu must both be activated first due to the high level of accuracy, precision, and power that the clan member needs to target the opponent/target properly. If they need more penetrating power and more accuracy and precision, the arrows used with this jutsu can be crafted to have drill-like heads and a long, elastic, thin rope made of spider webbing can be spun from the end of the arrow and can then be used to guide the arrow to the target almost perfectly.

Drawbacks:
Since this jutsu involves firing an arrow with a spider web rope attached to its end, if it makes successful contact with the target(s)/opponent(s), then they can potentially use the chakra conductive spider webbing to fire a chakra based jutsu and trace it along the length to the webbing to hit the clan member if said clan member doesn’t have the foresight to disconnect the webbing after the jutsu is over.

So the question this makes me ask is, what kind of strength does one need to overpower this? How much more strength does one need when struck repeatedly, etc. for example: "requires masterful strength to break out, + a minor/major advantage per additional times struck by this in the same instance" This question also goes for any other technique you have posted that ensnares targets as I assume that they all vary in potency.

yea about that, i was thinking something like this:

D rank trapping techs: proficient base + major advantage every additional time struck with them

C rank: masterful base + major advantage every additional time struck

B rank: Epic base + major advantage for every additional time struck

A and S: Legemdary base + major advantage for each additional time struck

would that be reasonable?

also how do you suggest i do the arms and the third eye? an actual genetic perk or like only through a jutsu? or perhaps, they are born with the arms and third eye, but need to actually learn the associated jutsu to properly control them and get the stat boosts inherent to these body parts?
